Not worth the risk

Bought a car 26 days ago from this garage. It's spent 16 of those days back at the garage. Car was cutting out and occasionally completely dying (i.e. had to be started again from scratch). Many times the engine doesn't even start. I took it back for them to have a look, got it back two days later with them saying it was fixed (to this day I still haven't been told what was done) - it wasn't fixed and in fact seemed even worse. Took it back to them again and 13 days later (without a courtesy car) I've not even been told what the problem is let alone it being fixed. At this point they've probably driven it more than me. Have demanded a full refund but these guys don't seem to have heard about the Consumer Rights Act 2015 which clearly states you're due a full refund if the car is defective and you've informed them of this within the first 30 days (30 days of it being at your property that is), They are refusing to refund the money and only giving the options of getting it fixed (which clearly they can't) or choosing a different car. Trying to work out where we go from here (I'd rather not go to the step of bringing in solicitors if I can help it) so yeah, unless you can 100% guarantee nothing at all will go wrong with the car you fancy don't risk buying from them. As others have noted, nice sales staff but if anything goes wrong expect a very stressful experience.
