Faulty engine

My daughter bought a Renault twingo for £5500 cash from our savings we took it back after a couple of weeks with a knocking noise and whirring from engine plus oil filter was broke and exhaust was loose we got car back after a few days they had fixed oil filter but noise in engine was still there when asked they told me it was common in these cars as engine was in back of car but everything was safe so trusted them and thought nothing of it then 7 months later the engine timing chain snapped which had only been replaced 18,000 miles ago the RAC who recovered the car said my daughter was lucky not to be fatally injured as she was parking the car at the time so went into see Evans Halshaw management and was told “ well we should have bought a 2yr warranty” and told us there not gonna do anything with the car as we haven’t got a leg to stand on there words not mine.
