I recently called into Hills of Lymington. Brandon and his dad Andrew were very helpful, approachable and friendly. Prepared to take time and explain everything and anything, a great experience. Could find no fault with their service.

I recently purchased my Nissan 370Z from Brandon and his dad Andrew at Hills of Lymington. The whole experience was friendly and professional. Everything I asked for was done. An example of this was the fact that there was a fault on the washer bottle level sensor when I picked up the vehicle, Brandon said get the fault sorted when you get home (we live 200 miles from them) and I will transfer the money into your account, this was done as promised. First class service.

I part exchanged my Audi R8 V8 for a slightly newer V10 model at Hills of Lymington. The pre purchase was ok so we agreed a deal, pending viewing, over the phone. When I turned up to purchase the car, it wasn't prepared and the service history wasn't as I was told because it was due a major service (£900). Because I was so excited I struck a deal there and then post a little compromise and went on my way with my £68000 car on the promise I would be sent some things in the post. These things did arrive after at least 6 reminders and 2 months including the 6 month warentee paperwork. One month after this I had a problem with the trim that goes around the windscreen; Hills initially appeared helpful but, again after several chase calls, stated that it wasn't covered under the Guarantee and there was nothing they could do. I got this repaired throughout Audi who kindly gave me 50% discount on the £2500 bill. They also informed me that the damage was caused because of incorrect fitment of the aftermarket windscreen and that Hills should have rectified the issue. I can't be bothered to interact with them any more other than to say I will never buy a car and would actively dissuade people from purchasing a car from them. Hope this helps.

Staff from Hills Of Lymington in response to Terrible after sales

Good Afternoon, Having just read this review i feel very disappointed that you "can't be bothered to interact" as if you don't get in contact and tell us what is going on, how can you expect us to help? I think you will find , as i sold you the car, that we knocked the money off for the service that was due and the "incorrect fitment" of the windscreen was done by Audi under they're recall or warranty procedure! We did try and get Audi to contribute towards it and that is why you received 50% discount in the first place! Apart from all of this, that V10 R8 was a beautiful car , and the one YOU PART EXCHANGED (Audi r8 v8) required us to spend nearly £2000 repairing failed air con condensers which you failed to mention when part exchanging the car... I'm sorry that you feel your experience was only worthy of 1.6 out of 5 stars, but you know as well as i do that car was next to perfect, and considering it wasn't new (2010 done approx 25,000 miles) I'm not sure what more you could have expected ? We always strive to do better so we will take on board your comments and will be better for it. Kind regards Brandon Hill

I purchased an Audi RS4 from Hills of Lymington in May. Car appeared fine upon test drive and on first inspection. Was informed by Andrew Hill that before I picked the car up the car would be MOT'd, serviced and undergo a pre sale inspection by a RAC approved garage and I would receive the checklist. I picked the car up a week later, advisory on the MOT was a leaking fluid suspension pipe which I was told by Andrew Hill that a replacement had been ordered and would be fitted when the part arrived which I was happy with. I drove the car home with a rumbling coming from the front right wheel which I put down to the suspension leaking. However upon starting it up the next day within 2 miles the EPC warning light came on, I contacted Hills and dropped the car off to them to get it checked. Whilst the car was back at hills the suspension was fixed but they could not find the cause of the EPC light. The car was given back to me and no more than a few miles of driving again the light came on. Again it was sent back to Hills who said their garage could not find the problem. This happened once again before giving the car to Audi who informed me there was a fault inside the inlet manifold but they would need to take the car apart to find exactly what it was. Hills then said they would take it to their garage to fix rather than Audi fixing it. Whilst the car was at Audi the first time a complimentary health check was done by them, amongst the various faults picked up by them they discovered both the suspension ball joints on the front were leaking grease badly, surely the "pre sale RAC inspection" should have picked that up? This was mentioned to Brandon on the phone who said he would repair it whilst the car was back with them for the EPC light. Again I got the car back from Hills and again within a few miles the light came on. After a lengthy discussion with Brandon on the phone the option of having Audi fix it or refund my money was given and fixing it at Audi was decided on. I took it to Audi who took the car apart and said the car would need a repair costing in the region of £3400. After a discussion between Brandon and myself he informed me he would not be prepared to spend this much to repair it so a refund was offered and accepted by me. During the above time of my car being back and forth with Hills I was constantly having to ring to get updates about the status of repairs, findings etc. The pre sale RAC sheet was not given to me on the day of the sale either. The warranty was posted to me 2 weeks after the sale but wasn't stamped by the garage doing the pre sale check, which I doubt there even was. I probably had this car in my possession for around 5 days in total between me buying the car and it being given back to Hills after picking it up from Audi, wasting my money on a month of car tax. The refund was agreed on the 22nd of June, a Wednesday. I went in that Saturday to drop the manual etc off and to get an idea of the date of my refund. Brandon Hill could not give me a date or even refund some of the money, quite strange considering they had an R8 and Bentley in the showroom. He said he would try and sort something over the weekend and update me on the Monday morning with a phone call. That phone call never happened. On the Tuesday I received a text message from Andrew Hill saying he would ring me tomorrow. That phone call never happened either. I then informed the RAC of everything that had happened up to this point, who assured me they would do what they could to help me get my money back as soon as possible. After weeks of emails between myself and the RAC, with no contact from Hills at all, I received a phone call from a Tony Taylor the account manager for the RAC who finally informs me I will be receiving a cheque from him next week. The cheque was put in to my bank and would clear by the 29th of July. The day before the cheque clears I receive a call from Andrew Hill, bearing in mind this is the first time in a month he or his son had even bothered to contact me, telling me he needed the keys and V5 back which I agreed needed to happen but was busy with work and would contact him Saturday when I had a better idea of where I stood with work etc. I received a text message from him minutes after the phone call, telling me the car was sold and someone was driving the car and needed the V5 back with the keys despite just calling and me telling him I wasn't sure when I would next be free. The keys and V5 were given to Tony from the RAC the day after as it just so happens he lives local to me. Having no contact in over a month then a phone call saying they needed the keys back etc with no apology for how long it took me to receive the money etc is absolutely disgusting and unprofessional behaviour for a dealer. I would not recommend this dealer to anyone, quite the opposite, steer well clear and take your money elsewhere.

Andrew Hill from Hills Of Lymington in response to G Wood

I would just like to point out that Hills of Lymington did everything they could to rectify any issues with this customer and to the point we felt it best to issue a full refund the vehicle in question was then fully main dealer inspected and as thought was fit for purpose with no faults. The vehicle has since been sold on to another customer who was and is still very pleased with is purchase and has just been and purchased a new car from Hills for his Son.

I purchased a VW Touareg from Hills which came with 12 months MOT and an independent RAC inspection report. Imagine my absolute horror when I discovered, a few days later, that the car had a broken front offside suspension coil spring, a twisted rear offside flexible brake pipe and the brake pad warning light had come on. So much for the MOT. When I eventually managed to speak to Andrew Hill, and explained my discoveries, he blamed the Garage that had carried out the MOT and that I should speak to them. After a "discussion" it was arranged that the spring would be replaced and the brake pipe attended to. On the agreed day I took the car to the garage,(about three miles further out of Lymington on the left) and was greeted with disbelief that the spring was broken. It transpired that they had not even ordered the parts despite the arrangements being made a whole week before. Guess what, the car was not ready by the end of the day. Furthermore, they told me that the brake warning light was not a faulty sensor, but that the rear brake pads were worn out. Again, so much for the MOT and the so called independent RAC inspection which, incidently, were carried out by the same "mechanic" at the same time. Not very independent. Armed with the news that I had worn out brakes, I went back to Hills and spoke to Andrew. After a long exchange of views which included the fact that I am an Authorised MOT Examiner, he very reluctantly agreed to replace the brake pads. The next day I got the car back and I observed that the front spring had been replaced, minus the dust shield. I didn't bother to complain as, by now, I had lost all faith that this company had any integrity whatsoever. Unfortunately, the story does not end there because I knew that I had to check the work carried out. It so happens that I have access to a vehicle ramp. I discovered that the rear pads had indeed been replaced but the brake discs were very corroded. I purchased new ones and was absolutely horrified at what I saw with the old discs upon removal. They had sections missing from the braking surface due to excessive corrosion and were just waiting to fail. I showed them to an MOT Examiner and he stated that the were seriously compromised and that the vehicle should of never been on the road with such a dangerous fault. Remember. a full MOT, an "independent" RAC check and new pads fitted, which nessesitates the calipers being removed exposing the discs. All carried out by the same garage. No doubt Mr Hill will claim that they have done everything that they could to help. The cold hard fact is that they sold me an un-roadworthy vehicle with dangerous faults. I still have the old brake discs so if the vehicle inspectorate, the RAC or Andrew Hill himself wants to see them, then please contact me. Beware warned about purchasing from this company.

Andrew Hill from Hills Of Lymington in response to Very Cross

In response to this review all works carried out on vehicles sold from Hills of Lymington are undertaken by a completely independent and established garage with no reason to overlook any faults that would jeopardise their reputations and the loss of their license to MOT vehicles and I'm sure that if this was the case the governing body would have taken action and to date this has not happened so to suggest that Hills of Lymington has sold a unroadworthy vehicle with dangerous faults is completely false and untrue we have sold over 3700 vehicles in the last 10 years and are proud of our reputation for selling good value and quality vehicles.

Very Cross in response to Very Cross

I would be interested to know why Andrew Hill states that he did not sell me an unroadworthy vehicle. Does he deny that the front spring was broken, the flexible brake hose was twisted and that the rear brakes were worn out? If so, why did he pay for the replacement of these parts? Oh, by the way, I have shown the seriously corroded brake discs to VOSA.

Andrew Hill from Hills Of Lymington in response to Very Cross

In reply i do not deny that when the customer returned with the car the front spring was cracked the brake hose had slight twist in it and the brakes where becoming low but to suggest that Hills of Lymington had these items overlooked is completely false and untrue also i would like to point out that the spring could of cracked at any point after hand over and the customer using the car and the brake hose being slightly twisted and brakes being worn were not a MOT fail and I'm sure if VOSA thought there was a problem with the MOT station they would have taken action i just seems to me that some people just can't be pleased we as a garage dealt with the issue quickly at no cost to the customer and replaced the brakes as a gesture but he still sees fit to rubbish us on the internet and to suggest that VOSA have taken action is completely false and not true .

I bought an Audi S3 Quattro from here and the service was really good. Everything was simple and sorted easily. The car was really nice and clean and in brilliant condition and the price was pretty good too! I have had no issues up to now and I have had the car since May. I would recommend this dealership.
