Very bad
I bought a second hand car from Mark Ingram, Sales Assistant at Macklin Motors, Peugeot branch, Edinburgh, spending almost 8K. The selling process was quite slick and smooth, but 8 weeks after the brakes of the car stopped working while driving, putting myself and my passengers at great risk. As I was 400 miles from Edinburgh, I called a local garage to have a look at the car, and they found break failure and 3 different leaks from the front of the car, including the radiator, thermostat housing and oil housing. The car is under 1 year third party warranty, but it would only cover 1 of the leaks and not the rest, resulting in a £800 bill to get the car back on the road. Once back in Edinburgh, I called Mackling Motors to discuss the situation and wrote some emails to them, to which they have not even bothered replying. It took me 3 days and several attempts before being able to speak to the sales manager, with numerous false promises of being called back. The different staff I have spoken to in several occasions was rude, unfriendly and annoyed to grotesque levels, making the whole experience extremely unpleasant. The sales manager was also unfriendly and dismissive, and despite my attempts to explain the situation, he kept saying that the car needed to be booked in and looked by one of their mechanics, which at that stage did not make any sense. When asked if he was comfortable at the idea of having sold me a car that almost killed myself and my passengers and that has not one but 4 major issues, his reply has been “What do you mean?”, clearly not taking any responsibility whatsoever for the extremely low quality of the faulty car they have sold me, and showing what their ethics really are. The car came with 1 year fresh MOT done by the them, which is probably why 4 major such faults were under reported. And who knows what other problem is expecting me, considering the overall state of the car. This is an extremely distressing, scary, damaging and unpleasant experience I would not recommend to anyone.
