I am extremely disappointed with my experience purchasing a 2020 Nissan X-Trail from Carworld. Only seven days and approximately 421 miles after collecting the vehicle, I took it to Western Nissan Edinburgh for a major service and inspection. Nissan recorded both front lower-arm bushes as split, abnormal wear on both front tyres, rear brake pads at approximately 4 mm, and rear brake discs that were corroded and starting to break up. For complete fairness, before purchase I was told verbally that I might need to replace the front tyres and brakes at the next MOT. However, I was not told that both front lower-arm bushes were split, nor was I given the detailed findings later recorded by Nissan. I also specifically asked the salesperson before purchase whether the vehicle had Android Auto and was told that it did. When it did not work after collection, I was advised that I needed an original cable. Western Nissan subsequently confirmed that this vehicle is not equipped with Android Auto. Carworld later rejected this part of my complaint because Android Auto was not written in the online advert, describing what happened as possible “miscommunication.” This does not address the verbal information I was given before purchasing the vehicle or the later advice about using an original cable. The vehicle was also supplied without the expected floor mats. I reported the problems promptly and provided Carworld with the Nissan inspection report and quotations. Their initial response focused on the fact that Nissan marked the mechanical items as amber advisories, rather than properly addressing the specific findings or offering a practical inspection or repair arrangement near Edinburgh. An amber classification may indicate that work is not immediately hazardous, but it does not change the fact that Nissan recorded both lower-arm bushes as split and the rear discs as deteriorating. I have had to spend significant time contacting Carworld, Nissan, the AA warranty administrator and consumer advice services simply to establish what assistance may be available. Advice Direct Scotland reviewed my case and referred it for Trading Standards consideration. I purchased the vehicle in good faith and intended to keep it for several years. I was not seeking to return it; I asked for a reasonable solution involving necessary repairs, the missing mats and an appropriate remedy for the Android Auto representation. Unfortunately, Carworld has not provided a satisfactory overall resolution. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. Anyone considering buying from Carworld should independently inspect the vehicle before payment, obtain every claimed feature and promise in writing, retain the original advertisement, and carefully check the warranty terms before collection.
