I've just had the worst trick a dealer can do...... I took my wife into Richlee Motors last week to buy a car, picked one and traded ours in, did the deal with the owner's son shaking on it, we paid up front and looked forward to today... My Wife was so excited and has been waiting to buy her car for so long. The day arrived to pick the car up and once finishing the paperwork, Taxing it and going through all the extra insurance bit, we was approached by another sales person to inform us that he had just checked the car over and we need to pay £250.00 before we get our new car!! He was shocked when we got upset and continued to tell us that he was doing us a favour by not charging more!! I'm sure this sort of thing goes on but not at a large main road garage! I will be investigating if this is allowed by anyone they may be accredited to? It turns out the faults on my car were found once they plugged it in and a glow plug module had a short, there were no fault lights on the dash and the car start perfectly! The other thing was the rev counter not working, this was like that on our last visit when they had the keys to look it over and to be honest this is a 12 year old 7 series with just 1 problem is not bad at all. Our car was being sold on to a trade dealer who had already given his price and Im more that sure they wouldn't be telling him there is an old fault in the log and he can have it cheeper.....no I think they were just being greedy and didn't mind upsetting my wife in the process, the new car we were purchasing was a very good price and I think they tried to recoup a few more pennies.. We got a full refund and now have to cancel the insurance and tax!!!

I bought a Peugeot RCZ from Richlee motors on 3/9/2015 within 2 hours of driving it off their forecourt it had a noise coming from the clutch each time I used it I took the car in to Richlee's the next morning, their mechanic took the car for a drive and said he could not hear any noise they agreed to take the car in for a couple of days and after driving it said they would replace the clutch. This did not cure the problem and after having the car back in a couple more times told me that there was no fault and I should go to a Peugeot main dealer and if I got proof there was a fault then they would pay for it to be fixed. I did this and they reported back that there was a fault, the main dealer contacted Richlee's and told them that an inspection would need to be done inside the gearbox and a part replaced but it might not fix the problem richlee's paid the bill for this approx. £200. Unfortunately this did not fix the fault after this Richlee's refused to pay anymore money to fix the car I rang the owner of Richlee motors Mr Richard Shayler and he said that he would not speak to me anymore and that I should get a solicitor he then put the phone down on me. I contacted citizens advice and they said to go to my bank as I paid with a debit card. They said that they could only help if I returned the car or got a letter of rejection from Richlee's. I took the car to them and saw the manager Jerry, he said said they would not take it back or sign any rejection letter so I locked the car up in front of their workshop put the key in my pocket and walked away. Richlee's had 60 days to respond to the bank with their evidence of why I should not be given a full refund which they did not do so the bank took the money from them and refunded it to me all this has taken 6 months and during this time I have not had a car to drive as the main dealer advised against using the car and the last 2 months it has been locked up at richlee's. In my opinion Richard Shayler the owner and Jerry the manager are both horrible men who use bullying tactics to try to get there own way.
