Thank you for your 1 Star Review received at 01.39am on Mon 17th Nov 2025. We have tried to resolve this amicably with goodwill gestures that have been rejected. We cannot be liable for the state of the UK roads. We would like to clarify several important points to provide the full context of our efforts to close this matter. Firstly, regarding the welded alloy on Mercedes WF66 WVB. This Mercedes failed its MOT on 26 Jan 2021 and it was rectified for its re-check on 27 Jan 2021 at 29311 miles. All this information is publicly available on the Government mot history website. We sold the car with 78167 miles so over 48000 miles has been covered since the repair. For reassurance, we asked our local Mercedes dealership in Farnborough to email, confirming that a properly welded alloy is considered a safe and satisfactory repair and that such a repair would pass an MOT. We also contacted 3 independent MOT stations who also confirmed that this is acceptable and would most likely not be mentioned as an advisory. The new crack on your Mercedes is next to the old weld and is consistent with impact damage such as a pothole or kerb damage rather than any fault at point of sale. It was also mentioned there was a nail in the tyre after 6 months. Customers are always given as much time as they would like to fully inspect their car to make sure they are happy with their purchase and they always sign to confirm their acceptance. It is worth noting that mixing run-flat tyres and non flat tyres is not dangerous. In many cases owners choose to replace run-flats because their stiffer side walls are more prone to causing cracks on alloys compared with standard tyres. Despite not being liable for any impact damage, we made several goodwill offers in an effort to resolve this matter amicably. New genuine Mercedes alloy wheel - £795. Declined by customer as unacceptable. Set of new upgraded aftermarket alloys as customer was thinking of changing current set. Declined again. 2 genuine refurbished alloys with 2 new tyres. Also declined. Your request for us to supply two brand new wheels and tyres only from Mercedes main dealer at a cost of £2500 was not a reasonable or proportionate remedy for a 9 year old car after 6 months of ownership. You also informed us that you “will get your own way” and referred the whole matter to your credit card company under Section 75. At this point, our goodwill offers had been declined by the customer and consequently withdrawn. We liaised directly with the credit card company. The credit card company’s response to this matter was: “I am writing to inform you that the claim submitted by our mutual customer, Miss ****, has been reviewed and subsequently rejected. NewDay are not investigating any claims related to this matter.” We understand how frustrating unexpected repairs can be, and we have tried to repeatedly assist you far beyond our legal obligations. We are sorry that this has been unacceptable to you.
