Hello We have previously purchased from Brown Brothers. and only very recently did we need to renew family cars. In the past few weeks we have purchased 2 cars from Brown Brothers. Evidently our experiences in the past have been pleasant. The first purchase went so well- we suspected it may have been a fluke. Neil, Kim, and the 'team' in servicing etc. could not have been better we felt. However there is no doubt that the second purchase went even more smoothly. We met additional members of the team at Brown Brothers , Bill and Colin. At no stage in either of the purchases did we feel pressured, nor obliged. In the second purchase we had requested to test drive 3 vehicles. On the 'big day' we arrived and each of the cars was ready for us. We drove only 2 - because the lead sales executive pointed out to us that it had three doors and not 5 .We had indicated a preference for 5. On return from the drives - the lead sales executive - was with other customers and as we didn't want to intrude we spoke with Kim and advised her that neither was absolutely right for us. On arriving home - I had a voicemail , with an apology for the lead sales executive ( he had been busy with other customers as noted before- thus had no need to apologise) He advised us that another car may indeed be ideal ( it had only arrived that morning) . We agreed to test drive later in the week and lo and behold - the car was / is ideal for our needs . To cut a very long story short- the first sale was NO FLUKE. The second sale was even better than the first. This family owned business appears to us to operate to very high standards - they do what they say they will do, and its done when they say it will be done We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this company, their staff are knowledgeable, friendly, professional and courteous at all times. If we could give 10 out of 5 we would . What an awful experience my father had dealing with this company, if I could give them zero stars I would. When the deal fell through for a car that my 77 year old father was in the process of buying, the treatment he received was awful, despite the fact he tried to engage in dialogue with brown brothers all they did was threaten him with court proceedings, I can't believe any business would treat someone like that and personally I would never consider buying from them.
Having bought a used car from Brown Brothers at a distance I can say I am delighted at the service. My trust in the company was totally confirmed. The car was delivered in immaculate condition with a year's warranty and exceeded my expectations. I cannot fault this company and would 100% recommend them.

Since moving to Peebles just over ten years ago, our family have purchased eight vehicles from Brown Brothers, some new, some nearly new and some a wee longer in the tooth. Such has been the level of service, support and customer care we have received, many friends of ours from near and far (the furthest being 285 miles away) have on our recommendation, bought a further eight vehicles. We buy our cars from this dealer, not because of what cars they sell but rather because of the unswerving support they have always given both prior to and after, each sale. No problem is ever too small and they always have time for their customers. From sales to service, their knowledge in my experience, far surpasses that of the large, city based dealers. It's little wonder that every other car in the area seems to have a Brown Brothers sticker in the window. P.S. most review sites give the supplier in question a chance to respond, this site however appears not to, I wonder why not this?

Having dealt with this family run business for over thirty years with more than forty vehicles bought by myself and family during this time, I have only the highest regard for the integrity, honesty and fairness I have received from them. The vehicles have always been prepared to the highest standards and any problems experienced have been dealt with promptly and with the minimum of fuss. Unlike many larger dealerships where you are merely a number, here if necessary you can speak to the boss and not be fobbed off to some manager.
New car ordered with every extra added and even more. Car arrived and when I collected the vehicle, the owners son jumped in the drivers seat and guided me through the gadgets. One of which was voice activation/control. No matter how he hard he tried the system kept repeating "command not recognised". He informed me that the system would have to get used to my voice. So off I drove home. I sat in the car and sat like an idiot talking to it - "fan speed 4", "temperature 23 degrees" etc and as per the handbook. I took the car back a total of 5 times and they kept stating they could fix it. The last time we returned the car it resulted in the salesman scurrying away and my wife and I having an argument with the servicing manager. Poor, no terrible, disgusting service and never, never will I go near this dealership.
