Never Judge a Book by its Cover....... I purchased a Transit Jumbo from this garage 4 weeks ago, I'd bought it blind over the Internet but paid cash for it and arranged to travel the 200 miles from Scotland to go and pick it up as the free delivery they advertise didn't apply to the vehicle I purchased, there was no Warranty but was told there was a standard 30 day guarantee! Call me when you leave Durham and I'll pick you up at the station I was told, I still had to wait 30 mins at the station and had just got in a taxi when someone turned up to pick me up! Got to the lovely, shiny, gleaming white garage and my van was ready for me, sparkling it was, like it had just come off the production line, it looked lovely! Into the office I went in order to complete the paperwork, got that done and hit the road to drive the 200 miles home. 120 miles and two and a half hours into my journey the Engine Management Light came on and stayed on, I got home and took the van to my local garage the next morning where they did a diagnostic check on the van to tell me there was a DPF problem but they couldn't look at it until a few days later as they were so busy! I called Carlton Motor Company to tell them of my problems on my shiny new van and was almost called a liar and that the light wasn't on when I left their garage and they didn't think it could possibly have come on so soon after me leaving their forecourt.. I went back to see about getting it fixed but the garage weren't able to regenerate it and suggested that I took it to a DPF specialist in the next town, I did this and after the problems being diagnosed I was told that Glow Plug 1 fault code DPF Glow Plug low voltage Temp Sensor 1 reading 1000 degrees constant fault Temp Sensor 2 no circuit DPF Pressure high due to needing cleaned The engineers opinion was that the management light had probably been on several times and had been constantly cleared due to the problems listed. I needed the van urgently for work so told the garage to fix it, the bill came to £617:78 which I paid and got back working. I sent the invoice along with the engineers report to Carlton Motor Company to which I received no reply, I then called and was told that "because they hadn't authorised me to get the work carried out, they didn't reckon they'd be able to help me" I then sent another email today 19/04 and got a reply basically saying that me paying to get a vehicle fixed that they sold me and went wrong only 150 minutes into me driving it was down to me! People, I urge you to be very wary of this "Lovely, Family Run Business" in the gleaming showroom as their customer service is not all they'd have you believe it is! I have also had further time to look closer at my shiny van and can now see that it has been resprayed at several points but instead of fixing it properly they've just sprayed over the rusty bits, this will be another cost to me in the near future! Please be wary of they shiny paint when you pick you new vehicle up.........
