We were very satisfied with the friendly helpful service from Paul C and the staff at Cecil & Larter in Bury St Edmunds. A previous garage had been unable to fix our air conditioning unit but this was rectified, plus a few other problems we had with our Volvo. We were very impressed with the transport we were provided with to take us into town while the car was being repaired and picked up later. Thank You.
Purchased a 2008 Mercedes benz cls in nov 2017. Returned in jan 2018 for a full refund. Poor poor company. Then i get dvla summons for non payment of road tax 3 months after the car was returned. This was down to shoddy office staff not keeping paperwork in order. When i called to find out what was going on i was just fobbed off,and basically told it was my fault.... Cecil and larter in bury st edmunds are no better than a back street garage.
In the words of the great 'Who' classic, "we wont get fooled again!" We bought a Volvo at the end of last year from this companies used car premises. Car was in great cosmetic condition, with low-ish mileage. Sales team were courteous and helpful. Thinking we were buying from a highly respected and long standing Volvo dealer, we believed there was no need to have the car independently inspected. And in any case, it came with a brand new cambelt and a free 3-month "Automotion Warranty". A short test drive around Bury, and a deal was struck.. It wasn't until we had our own mechanic look over the car that the worries began. We reported the following faults to the company, but they refused to rectify the following: *Very recent in-house "service" had not been carried out fully (low on engine oil?! Filthy air filter?) What else had been "overlooked"? *Tyres damaged and severely "sawtoothed". So noisy, you could hear them rumble above the radio.. *Rear suspension bushes degraded.. We were told the car had passed all of its "safety checks", so Cecil and Larter would be doing nothing. We have since also had to deal with a large amount of water inside the car, due to failed windscreen "bonding". Surprise, surprise, the Automotion "Warranty" did not cover this type of fault.. Since purchase, we have had to spend a considerable amount of cash on this car. Tyres, suspension, rear-wheel tracking, windscreen and servicing - all within three months of purchase. In short - would not go near this company again! Maybe their main site is a pukka Volvo dealership, but this "used car" outlet seems to be no different from any other backstreet dealer, happy to foist poorly prepared vehicles onto the public..

I purchased a used car from Cecil & larter had a small problem with the car , called Nathan Scott, (sales Manager) was told it would be sorted ASAP , was offered a curtesy car while problem was being sorted , I’ve been kept up to date via phone calls , personally I cannot fault the service I’ve received from Nathan , I feel I’m in good hands with Nathan and his team, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Cecil & larter .

Bought a second hand car from their used car sales, was promised all servicing etc had been done but after collecting the car I noticed that it wasn't up to date and it also had faults. I've called and emailed but they are refusing to fix the fault and I'm now having to take them through the courts. Don't buy from Cecil & Larter full stop!
Just bought S/H V40 and visited Cecil & Larter for the first time and can't fault the service I received.
This is in reference to their used cars. Despite being on a test drive and asking if they could check the best price the man came back and talked to us about servicing etc etc. He then had another look around the car and promptly announced it had been sold by his Head Office in the 2 minutes that we had stood talking, except his phone had not rung!!! On heading over to main office to complain the manager responded that it had been sold and that he .could sell that car for £1500 more..than it was advertised for..maybe a faux pas on his part but I suspect that is what they intend to do! A dealer only interested in his pocket and not genuine customer service.
