I had been looking for an Audi A4 Avant 13 or 14 plate, ideally a Black Edition 1.8tfsi to replace my 2007 A6 Avant Le Mans 2.7tdi, due to the impending expansion of the London ULEZ, for some time. When I came across Continental Car's silver 2013 2.0tfsi quattro S Line with a spec higher than a Black Edition at a price matching my planned budget, I couldn't ignore it. (especially as the price had just been reduced by £500) I called Richard Rolfe, who politely answered all my many questions about the car, service history, previous owners, warranty etc. and sent me some additional pictures of the interior. Richard also explained the "Click and Collect" process in operation for car buying in these difficult times and the consumer safeguards they contained. On this basis, I went to Continental Cars to "collect" the vehicle, subject to agreeing a suitable PX price for my A6, something which was done quickly to the satisfaction of both parties. The car was immaculate and just as described by Richard with full service history, V5 document and some extras which I wasn't expecting ... Weather Tech front seat car mats ... worth over £200. The purchase process was completed with the minimum of fuss and and in a professional no-pressure manner. Despite the fact that the brake pad warning light came on after we had agree the PX and, subsequently a wheel bearing has gone, Richard's after Sales service has also been excellent. The rear wiper motor started leaking water within 2 weeks of my getting the car and, as it was so soon after purchase, the RAC warranty folks refused to cover the replacement cost. I contacted Richard who, without a quibble, had a new motor fitted as soon as I could get the car to his garage. Jon, his mechanic even gave the car a wash while it was there. Overall, a great experience from a thoroughly decent dealership. I can wholeheartedly recommend Richard Rolfe and Continental Cars. Be interesting to see how much he gets for my A6! Sorry ... I should make it clear that the brake pads and wheel bearing problems were on my Audi A6 which I part exchanged ... not on the A4 which I bought! So Richard was very understanding indeed.
I was interested in 3 cars but was told only one on site at Continental Cars as not enough space to store. Told me he was to busy to help. Took my £13k else where.

We are not sure what the complaint is here. Please see the very concise introduction on our home page which has ONE thing in bold, the word IMPORTANT followed by please call us to ensure the car is onsite and ready for viewing.
I have dealt with Continental Cars for many years, he has supplied me with numerous cars for our business and a van. Richard is always honest, trustworthy and reliable, he has a laid back style which you need to understand. We recently asked him to source and supply a nearly new Vauxhall Adam for my daughter which he did very successfully and within budget. My office manager needed to replace her written off car urgently, he rapidly sourced a quality Nissan Juke at a very agreeable price compared to other dealers cars. He has also disposed of many cars for us and our friends and always achieves a higher price than you would in a private sale. John his assistant is always very helpful and nothing is too much trouble for him to sort out.

I bought a nissan x trail from them. Car was in brilliant confition with no such problems and engine was solid! Would reccoment to family and friends. Thanks JOHN
BEWARE OF CONTINENTAL CARS !!! They have little on no knowledge regarding the mechanical aspects of the cars they are selling and no on site facilities to check them before sale. Just over a month since since purchasing a Mercedes SL 350 from them the car was serviced at a reputable independent Mercedes specialist with only 370 miles covered since purchase. These are the true facts of the condition the Mercedes was in at the time of purchase. 1. Front brake pads 90% worn and discs badly scored. 2. Rear disc pads 90% worn. 3. Front lower suspension swivel assembly broken. 4. Rear drivers side brake caliper seized. Bear in mind the vehicle came with a new M.O.T. With not one advisory regarding the above items ??? Due to the serious safety issues with the vehicle I had no choice but to have the vehicle repaired immediately as there were serious safety issues. I have tried twice to email my concerns and findings to Continental cars but they have totally ignored me, so I have passed all details onto Oxford Trading Standards and wait their reply. I hope all that read this review will share my concerns about Continental cars and be careful about buying any vehicle from them without a thorough mechanical inspection.

The key issue here is that we had MOT'd the car at an independent garage prior to the sale. Sadly the customer gave us no chance to review or remedy his issues. We simply were informed that he has spent all this money on fixing the issues raised by his local garage who clearly were not an MOT station after the event. Please consumers, your rights are really well protected in consumer law, but you must raise your issues with the dealer and discuss the resolution, do not just go along with some mechanic you know and then present a bill over which the car sales outlet has had no knowledge, right of reply or input to the solution before hand.
Bought an Audi RS6 that I rejected due to a number of mechanical faults the dealer failed to mention during the sale, within 2 days there was oil over the driveway, the dealer took weeks before trying to arrange a repair in which a number of garages refused to repair the car. The oil leak had been an advisory on its previous MOT 21k miles ago. 3 weeks on the dealer has the car back and the log book is still in my name with my road tax he hasn't sorn the vehicle or registered him as the keeper to remove my tax. I advise anyone looking at the red 09 RS6 to get an independent mechanic to look over this vehicle as 21k miles is a lot of miles for an engine with the sort of performance the RS6 has to have an oil leak.

There is no point in writing a long a lofty response to this. Suffice to say that we did make an error here in selling a car which had an oil leak and we should have spotted that. The nature of the car is that this would be an expensive repair and after asking the customer to take it to two local garages for investigation and repair at our expense, it became obvious that no one wanted the job as the V10 RS6 is a nightmare to work on, We paid the customer's expenses to bring the car back to us and gave a full refund. He made a mission of going on every platform going to leave bad reviews, just as soon as he had his money and expenses paid back. Still, we can say sorry and mean it.

Hi I have just recieved am email today nearly 5 years after my issues with yous. I am passed this now however yous have to understand where I was coming from. I travelled 5 and a half hours to get the car. One garage of the local garages did take the car in not realising the job however the other one dealt with performance vehicles often and they started looking at the car and found more than one pipe leaking and decided not to go any further. I then said I would take it to Audi and yous pretty much told me it would need a new engine at Audi. I know people who work in the local Audi and it would not have had an engine replaced for no reason so that was essentially me being told it was broken. I did also make an offer to keep the vehicle and me take on the problems as a trade sale which yous rejected so I proceeded to reject the vehicle. What I was most appalled at was the fact that you or one of your employees started writing fake reviews on google with childish name calling toward me. If yous had of acted professionally I would of likely considered that in my review and changed it.
Overall the Continental Cars in Reading are good. The only problem is the after sale. Brakes were sticking and there was a sensor fault. I'd call them up and they would often not pick up and when they did they told me I needed to speak to a different bloke who was never in the office, felt like they were passing the buck to be honest. Problems turned out to be small, got it sorted myself at a BMW garage. Don't get me wrong they are nice guys at Continental Cars, just when I'm spending that sort of money I'd expect a bit more customer service. I would recommend this car dealership for their cars they have for sale that I saw, they've got some beautiful motors.

First car I purchased here was not fit for purpose. Fair enough, they gave a refund. I tried a couple of others, purely because this is a local dealer, and it would be convenient. I usually found the cars very over-priced, not great condition. Just now called them and they refused to allow me a test drive because I am a 'time waster' because I haven't recently purchased the couple of over priced poor condition cars they showed me. Shocking that they are still in business really, very shoddy!

If you have had the time to read down this far in our reviews it is at this point I would say that we have only just found the time to bother replying to negative reviews on a website over which we have no input or control. I think these bad reviews span an 8 year period in which we have sold into the thousands of cars. So if only five or so people have seen fit to arrive here and make a fuss (and all of them either didn't buy or got there money back by the way!) then so be it. If you are in any way put off by what you have read, please do not buy a car from us as it will save us all the unnecessary loss of time and emotionally harmful stress. We hope your next car is a good one, where ever you may find it. All the best. Continental Cars
