On 20th July 2026 I bought "an Excellent Example", "well maintained" Citroen C4 Picasso 1.6hdi from Dunsmore Motorz, advertised through Autotrader. On Sunday 2nd August was the 1st major breakdown, less than 400 miles driven, on a busy dual carriageway, warning lights, Limp mode, misfire. The RAC written breakdown report stated Replace Injector 1. Car was undrivable, therefore left it 25 miles from home. Contacted Dunsmore 10am Monday, was asked to send RAC report, then did not get reply until 15.30 saying the car "must" come to them to be inspected at my cost for recovery (online quote £380!). Eventually on Tuesday 4th Aug Dunsmore agreed to pay half of recovery, leaving £150 for me to pay, last email from Dunsmore was that they were waiting to arrange recovery. On Wednesday 5th Aug, Day 3 without a car, I felt had little choice but to source a replacement Injector and arrange local repair. Injector was £125.00, (cheaper than recovery charge!). I emailed Dunsmore, and asked as a good will gesture perhaps they pay for the part (would cost them anyway) To this date (26th August) NO reply whatsoever, seem to have been completely ignored. Not the end because on 16th August was the more serious 2nd breakdown, front end vibration and tapping noise, on my inspection discovered that the front passenger side wheel, Brake Disc and Hub Assembly was loose. I filmed this, and emailed video to Dunsmore on 17th Aug. To this date (26th Aug) NO response from Dunsmore on this new issue either. I have contacted Citizens Advice Consumer Rights, confirmation Warwickshire Trading Standards would be informed. The car was repaired on Friday 21st Aug by my local garage, wheel bearing replacement. Within 30 days of purchase I am now £400 out of pocket in additional costs, just to make the car "fit for purpose". I am very disappointed in the lack of response from a Registered Motor Dealer.
