After arranging to meet a sales executive at Evans H. Peugeot, Wakefield and after a 2.5 hour journey the man was not available. A junior salesman, who was pleasant and knowledgeable, showed me the car but could make no decisions without first going to see the "man upstairs". Each time he did this there was a wait of up to 30 min. which meant that it took hours to make a simple straightforward sale. When I asked to see the car's relevant documents I was told that they did not have those at hand, only a few photocopies, but that they would be available on completion. The deal was that I pay the asking price for the car and that it would be delivered free of charge. It gets worse! After paying a deposit during the visit I later sent the balance to their specified account by an instant bank transfer. Two days after that they informed me that they were cancelling the delivery because they had not received the balance. I was left thinking that the sum was lost somewhere in cyberspace! I immediately contacted the bank who assured me that the beneficiary bank had acknowledged the payment 2 days earlier. I contacted E. Halshaw and asked a junior member of staff to check the account herself. I received a reply to say that they had now found the money but that the delivery was still cancelled. When I tried to press them for a new delivery date they went into "ignore the customer" mode and would not reply to my communications. As my previous car was now off-road, I was left with only a push bike to travel around in wet freezing weather; not too good for a 66 year old. About a week later the car was delivered but with most of the documentation missing, which I was previously assured they would provide. They also sold the car without having carried out any basic servicing checks. Tyres were well under the recommended pressures. On the first day of sub zero temperatures a critical warning message appeared on the dash screen to park the car and have it taken to a workshop. The coolant had frozen to slush because of insufficient antifreeze. Six weeks after paying fully for the car I am still waiting for: 1. a receipt for the money paid. 2. proof that the necessary checks were made on the vehicle's finance/ validity. 3. the owner manual/ media booklets 4. the registration document. DVLA say they have no record of the change of owner form being sent to them. At the moment Evans H. are back into their "ignore the customer" mode. I can't get any response from them. The junior staff involved with the sale performed well, hence the single star, but they had to line up behind the names with titles. My complaint concerns those faceless individuals who are just mouths behind desks. I will provide updates if the situation improves.
I made an enquiry regarding a vehicle from which they were prompt to respond and request that I reserve the vehicle with a deposit which I did. Due to the fact I was travelling some distance I requested that if they could not move it closer to home could I do a same day drive away which they assured me was possible. This was a Thursday. I then spoke to the salesman the following day who said the vehicle was going into the body shop for some minor repair to the bumper, however he would send me some photos on the Monday of the finished job so that I could decide if I still wanted to proceed. I received no communication on the Monday, having heard nothing by Tuesday I contacted Evans Halshaw to be told was not available so left a message. Having not heard anything on Wednesday I phoned again, and was told he was still not available and left another message. The following day (Thursday I was contacted by another staff member to be told the vehicle would be in the garage the following day where I could attend and view the vehicle with a view to purchase. I finished worked early and made a 2 hour train journey to Evans Halshaw, whilst on the train and half way into my journey I received a phone call telling me the car cannot be viewed and still in the body shop. I returned home and by the following Tuesday had still not heard anything back from Evans Halshaw after being assured on the previous Friday that they would keep me updated and the vehicle should be ready the following day. Due to the poor service I cancelled my interest in the vehicle and 5 days later still waiting for the return of my fully refundable reservation fee. Having bought many vehicles over the years this has to be the worst experience I have had.

The only problem I had was that the Sales Man kept trying to push me to his finance. I was quite embarrassed of my credit rating so didn't want to go into too much detail with him, I told him the credit was already sorted. I spoke with him quite often over the phone but one particular day he didn't put his phone down properly and I heard a full conversation he had with one of his colleagues about me and my circumstances, basically slagging me and my credit rating off and the fact that I had got the credit through l4u. If the deal hadn't been pretty much finalised Evans Halshaw Wakefield would have lost my sale. I did email Evsns Halshaw about this at a later date but no reply. #wontvisitthewakefieldbranchagain

We agreed a time and date to collect the car and this kept changing. When I received the car it had not been valet and there was still rubbish in it. I felt because I was a car loans for u customer of which I had already rearranged the finance beforehand I was treated differently and they had no time to hand over the car. I certtainly will not be going back to this dealership!!!!
