I bought a saab estate from First Cars Direct last year. It has had a list of problems since this time, and not the usual wear and tear, within the first week the exhaust back box fell off, there was black smoke bellowing out of the exhaust "must be the fuel your using" the car was as it seems now well over priced I won't be able to sell it and get anywhere near my money back si I'm stuck with this shed for the foreseeable. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS GARAGE TO ANYONE. Steer well clear.
This guy Mr Singh, sold my relative a Mondeo for 12k so she can be transported back and forth from hospital. It was a wreck that had 9 separate mechanical issues. There was even evidence that the chassis had been a write-off but that someone had pulled it back into some kind of shape by tugging it on a chain with another car. He continues to refuse to take calls nor reply to emails. Litigation is being prepared and he will be served with a civil writ for damages.
Recently bought a ford transit van from First Cars Direct for £6000. Within 2 days there was a bad power steering leak from the return pipe which I discovered after nearly spinning off the road and narrowly avoiding an accident. This after apparently passing an MOT with no advisery notes??Anyways took the van down which they fixed. 2 weeks later now the van wouldn't start, had to get a recovery vehicle to come out have a look. Got a new battery still wouldn't start, so got the recovery vehicle to take it down to first cars direct. Now they have said the ecu had blown which was totally against what the mechanic who recovered the vehicle said which I have proof of from the report. Tony they guy from first cars direct (who seems to be very popular in these reviews I've read) shown me the state of the battery which was fitted, which was brand new at time of fitting but was now mysteriously in a mess as well as a burning smell coming from the van which wasnt there when the vehicle had been recovered over a week before?? Very strange. Have absolutely no trust in this company or Tony to which if you're meant to be a professional you dont say I quote ''im not someone who should be messed with'' which basically sums him the company and everything up. Now in the process of getting the finance stopped and reporting this to trading standards. Wish I had looked at the reviews of this place first before purchasing. Will keep people who read these reviews updated.

DONT BUY FROM FIRST CARS DIRECT Bought a Ford Transit van, January 2017 for *8300 pound and was the worst purchase of my life. Tony seemed very helpful and professional but as soon as the purchase was complete he was happy. Have had multiple break downs 5 in total which lead to needing 3 recovery trucks. Heres a list of problems i had : diesel jets clutch alternator rear abs sensors back door hinge and still an occurring problem with the gears. when i have tried to contact tony he has multiple excuses and strings you along, since my last problem i have been waiting 5 weeks for a reply, he keeps saying he doesn't receive my emails. If i don't get a reply from tony soon i will be taking things further and i will be starting proceedings to take Tony to court so i can get my money back , i will also be going to trading standards too. He is a total waste of time so everyone don't even waste your time with him and stay well clear .
Just bought audi a3 from Tony and found the whole experience from initial email contact to meeting on site very professional. Buying a 9 year old car you expect to have one or two issues. The key is to figure out what these are and do your research upfront in terms of online search of history and a bit of realistic expectations on your target car at the price advertised... Tony was happy to discount based on some minor works and it was a good experience overall. I'd go back.
After reading some very negative reviews re First Cars Direct I feel I must offer my experience. On reflection, I realise that mostly we only ever hear feedback when its of a negative content. When do we ever get all the positive remarks?! It's the same in all areas of business. However, I have just bought my 3rd car from this garage and I am delighted to say that we have only ever had a pleasant and positive experience. Our latest purchase was for my 18 year old who has just passed her driving test. Tony was most helpful in advising us of both a reasonably priced car as well as economical for us to run. It is a reliable car which my daughter is just loving. It is perfect as is my car which I also got from Tony. I'm disappointed to read negatives about this garage and I feel I want to offer my comments to reassure other buyers that sometimes you read things that people write obviously in anger. It's unfair and very defamatory. I have had pleasure in dealing with First Cars Direct and had very easy dealings. My interactions have been over a few years so therefore it's not all bad and I know I have recommended this garage to others who were delighted with their cars too!! It's very personal when people talk about Tonys own car (jealous) and when questioning his other reviews. How dare someone be so vicious and disgusting. Should be ashamed. Fair enough if you have issues with your car to be rectified but to drag in anything else to just bad mouth someone is very immature! I fully support First Cars Direct and have only have experienced a professional service throughout. Do not be put off by bitter individuals!

I bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2014. Dealer told me about car I don't have any accident. I'm go check in service jeep because right lamp is not working, remove front bumpers and very surpising everything is broken. Mix cables broken, plastic broken, front panel suspension, pump in different position. I took pictures and opinion from jeep. I call the dealer and explain what is problem, he ignore me. Car is 4,5 months old. I send him letter with picture. Im wait 14 days if him don't give to me any answer I go to court. And another thing, I ask him about service history, he told me everything is fine. This same day I'm driving from Scotland to London many lights come on screen after that and oil light is flashing. I go to services I pay 460 pound fo services. I call him no answer. This company lied to me, don't buy any car from this company. I talk to friends about this company, If he don't send me any answers I'm send special letter to Trading Standards company. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.
i drove 1000 miles round trip from south wales to buy the car of firstcarsdirect great service mainly car described as it was well worth the travel,thanks tony.

How about verifying your review ? Looks odd that after a bad review there's suddenly two great reviews both who have had long journeys to receive their cars then drive back . And from personal experience I know the finance deals aren't great .

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I bought a car from them and after a couple of weeks the engine management light came on. Was told car had full service history but it doesn't (Trading Standards looking into this) . Car has now started overheating and has strange noise coming from it. Car sold with slick tyre so should never have left the forecourt. This company is now ignoring emails and I'm left with a bill of £300 for repair so have decided to reject the car through the finance company. I realise this company has some good reviews but it seems it's Russian roulette as to whether you get a decent car or not. Definitely would not recommend this company to anyone.

Just posting an update as I've finally had a resolution , no thanks to First Cars Direct who made it as difficult as possible . The car was inspected by an independent engineer who in amongst the multitude of faults found one that had definitely been there at point of sale and that was a crack in the engine . I had my initial deposit returned and three monthly payments , by the finance company not the dealer , and my van eventually returned(a month after agreement) , minus the logbook and MOT just so I couldn't get the van legal to sell . Pathetic behaviour but par for the course with these people . Also , the van was returned to me minus it's wheel trims and had had a ham fisted effort of removing blue lines which were on it . He also claimed to have replaced the battery , unfortunately for him the date the battery was replaced is actually written on the battery (2013) but why let facts get in the way of lies . The van is also driving awful so God only knows what he's tried to do to it but it's getting an independent inspection to confirm whether or not it's been tampered with before it was returned as one of the new faults is the exact same as one the dealer had to pay for . Probably the best of all is that I've had debt collectors chasing me for an outstanding fine from January , First Cars Direct had the car from December previous , but have been kind enough to leave an outstanding ticket on it for me . I would urge anyone thinking of using these people to think again , the biggest mistake I made was not checking reviews before having anything to do with this company . Also if you're thinking of purchasing a low mileage Volkswagen Polo (SA08DGU) , ask to see the ACE vehicle inspectors report and make sure all repairs have been carried out . I'd hate to see anyone else end up in the same position as I did . Horrendous experience all round from a truly pathetic company . The owner isn't even man enough to admit a mistake , then when he is pulled up for it he behaves the way he has towards me by wrecking the van I part exchanged and with holding documentation . Great way to do business .

This matter was dealt with in the best way possible. The faults which arose after the vehicle was taken away, the customer was given an option to go to their local garage and to receive a quotation. This was done and payments for the faults were made to the customer in order for the customer to carry out the repairs. However, things escalated not only with First Cars Direct but also the finance company which the vehicle was financed with, to which they informed First Cars Direct to no longer deal with this customer as we had dealt with them efficiently and they would take the matter into their own hands.

Complete and utter rubbish . The ACE vehicle inspection found a fault in the engine that was present at point of sale , it's in the report in black and white . That's the reason the car went back . You continually lied to me and the finance company which I have proof of . The finance company took it over because you refused to do anything about the problems and chose to ignore me , a common thing with you judging by the reviews on here . I think in future you should stick to writing dodgy reviews(see above) . Everything I wrote in my initial review and follow ups is the truth , you should try it sometime .
