Today I had the chance to benefit from Gold Vehicles services... Knowing the owner of the garage made me ask for help for diagnosing and possibly repairing the air con on my car. After multiple attempts of booking (showing lack of interest that cost me a couple of weeks enduring high temperatures), we eventually arranged an appointment. It was specifically mentioned by the owner himself that the diagnosis is free, even when I said I’m happy to pay if needed. During the wait, I was offered refreshments and invited to stay inside in their waiting area, which shows attention to customers. I was also invited to a workshop tour, and I must say—the place is pristine. Unfortunately, these are the only good things I can express about my experience. After approx. 45 minutes of waiting, the mechanic carried out a visual inspection in front of my eyes and the verdict was given. I was told the diagnosis was complete and that I would be quoted for the repair. The quote came at approx. £650 as it involved condenser replacement, which was fine—but for me, too steep to agree with at the time. As soon as I said I wouldn't go ahead with the repair, the "gratuity" of the diagnosis disappeared, and the owner insisted that it was only free if I proceeded with the job! Please correct me if I’m wrong, but that doesn’t sound FREE to me—it sounds INCLUDED in the service at best. You can’t quote for something you haven’t properly diagnosed! And if there was a fee involved for not going ahead, why wasn’t I informed from the start? Sadly, despite the nice-looking workshop and equipment, this was my unpleasant experience with Gold Vehicles Ltd. Even dough I haven't purchase a vehicle from them, and that seems to be their bread and butter, I strongly suggest you do your own research and make sure to properly vet them before using their services. While there seem to be many positive reviews, assuming they are all legitimate and not fake (a growing trend nowadays), I’d still be cautious. Best of luck!
