DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!! I have had a year of hell with an overpriced low mileage vehicle with multiple issue, multiple FAILED repairs and unsafe work done, extremely unreasonable company who do not care about their customers safety or the vehicles they’re selling. Multiple issues along with a failed engine at less than 40k miles, their replacement failed multiple times to which it is not even roadworthy now!!! The car was bought specifically for towing, I pretty much could not do during the time I have owned this vehicle, it has spent more time in the garages than on the road, we have finally won our case but not through hamworthy, they have been unreasonable, unreliable, untrustworthy and have taken advantage of a customer who put their trust in them. Extremely shocking service from this company.

HAMWORTHY CAR CENTRE from Hamworthy Car Centre Ltd in response to DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!

Please let me outline our recollection of the events in question • Purchased car 15/05/2021 – 82 point RAC inspection, full service + independent MOT not carried out by us. No advisories & supplied with 6 months RAC warranty. • 11/07/21 – “Steering wheel started to shake when braking down a slip road.” Indicated warped brake discs. Not present when sold and not reported after your 100 mile journey home after collecting the car. Car since covered 3,000 miles before you reported this. We offered to look at the car and investigate. • 18/07/21 - Engine started making a knocking noise – Unfortunately, a well documented fault with Land Rover 3.0 TDV6. We collected the car from 100 miles away & left you a courtesy car. Engine replaced under warranty supplied with car. Also replaced the front brake discs & pads and balanced all 4 wheels at no cost to yourself. £40 of fuel to cover return journey. Covered 3250 mile since purchase • 23/09/21 oil reading incorrect – Replaced oil level sensor. Collected the car dropped off a courtesy car. All sensors are swapped from the old engine. Even if Land Rover did this job this is still the case, so sensor is same age as car and unfortunately failed. No shaking from the steering wheel when our mechanic drove 100 miles back too us. Checked front suspension and wheel balance, all OK. Drove back to you, again no steering wheel shake. • 03/11/21 engine light came on – 7548 miles covered since purchase. A slip vacuum pipe diagnosed by your local garage. Not asked to pay this bill, maybe because the warranty disclaimer explained wear & tear items not covered. Have a copy of the invoice and shows front wheel balance & alignment – no mention of faulty suspension arm bushes faulty? • 03/01/22 Message asking for locking wheel nut – “as we were the last to use it” along with multiple messages of abuse. As per above, not the case as your garage used the locking nut last when balancing the wheels. No message of apology. • 23/03/22 Reported an oil leak. Replied asking to have car diagnosed, let us know once done. • 04/04/22 Letter received asking to return the car after 10 months and 12,339 miles covered claiming not fit for purpose. We accept there were some issues within the first 6 months but went above and beyond to fix the issues at no cost to yourself, collecting from you and compensating fuel costs, fixing issues that are wear and tear items etc. • 20/04/22 Your letter gave us no option but to respond via legal letter so wrote to confirm that since you have owned the vehicle for over 6 months, you need to show fault was there at the time of sale and this hadn’t been shown. As a goodwill gesture and not an acceptance of liability we were willing to inspect & repair vehicle in full final settlement. • 27/05/22 – Letter received saying not willing to bring the car back to ourselves for repair • 14/06/22 Response from our legal department when as a goodwill gesture we were willing to inspect and repair the alleged oil leak and replace the suspension bushes. Again offered collection & a courtesy car. We simply asked that you collect once repaired and sign a letter agreeing this is full and final settlement of all and any claims. • No reply to letter above. After time and miles covered, we believe our response has been more than reasonable. We’re therefore very disappointed to read this and other reviews from multiple accounts across a range of platforms. It seems clear you are intent on ruining the reputation of a family run business that’s gone above and beyond to try and help resolve what are well documented issues that can occur on a 2012 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6. Even after 10 months of ownership and 12,339 miles covered, we still offered to repair your vehicle but you chose not take up this offer. Taking into account all the above, and while we empathise with your situation, we feel the comments within your review are unjustified, not factually accurate and could be regarded as defamation against our company.

Sharna in response to DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!

Sorry but you are missing some very important bits of information… Here we go, without prejudice, the car was picked up by me on the 12th may. A week before the 12th July I began feeling the steering wheel shake come on, I left it to see if it was nothing but it continued to get worse. On the 11th July I reported the issue to you. Then on the 18th the crank shaft went. All before 3 months. When the LR was inspected at my yard by a LR specialist he stated the tyres were ‘feathered’ caused by the car being driven for quite some time (even prior to purchase with the damage) with this ‘mystery fault you could not figure out’ The bearings couldn’t have gone through 50% wear and tear in less than 2 months! So therefor i truly believe, as do other garages, that it wasn’t sold with what you state is ‘50% wear and tear’ left minimum. You also state you drove miles in the car without feeling the shake. Now with the damage this is impossible, the car has a shake which prevented me from using the vehicle for what I brought it for and from driving safely. Now you talk about miles, the car had a supposed new engine fitted so the miles I drove on the car SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN AN ISSUE!!! I also must state that I had to drive over 100 miles down the a38 and into town and down a B road to my two places of work, I did this by leaving an extra 30-40 minutes and driving at 50mph or slower to baby the car as whilst driving it it was dangerous. Multiple times I was coming up slip roads when the restricted performance came on and caused a danger to myself and others BUT I STILL NEEDED TO WORK!!! You were not sorting the issues despite it going back several times. You gave £40 in fuel because when I picked the car up after only having is 8 weeks before it was terminally I’ll and then it being in the garage a further 7 weeks, stating the engine needed fixing and the shaking diagnosed, I drove 15 minutes away after the supposed repairs AND the steering was still shaking rapidly!!!! I had to turn around and come back!!! So that is why, because you once again overlooked an issue carelessly, whilst incorrectly fitting the new engine. You also state that I had the wheel alignment done, I must emphasise I NEVER had this done until I mentioned to you that the locking wheel nut was missing. I had it put up on the ramp and had the alignment CHECK (which was shocking!) no work was carried out, and I did not have this corrected as you stated you would sort it when it came up to you for the oil issue. You stated on the phone that that alignment was fine! When I had proof right before it went to your garage to be sorted that it was not! The damage to the bearings that was causing the shaking issue was diagnosed immediately at a different garage who was baffled that you ‘didn’t’ find the issue! We have this backing from not one but two garages. You also tried to cover up saying I drive down country lanes which could’ve caused this issue.. 1, it couldn’t have caused that much wear in such a short time, or even covering the miles it did, These cars are designed to drive for miles on end, many use them to road trip around Europe with no issues, and 2… ITS A BLOODY LANDROVER DISCOVERY DESIGNED FOR OFF ROADING!!! The wear and tear pipe was not found at the garage that was looking at it through the warranty company, they actually could not find the issue and ‘assumed’ it was a pipe. The warranty company stated that if it is in fact the pipe they won’t fix it through the warranty. I took it to another garage to have the work done and as stated they believed it was damaged due to the repair engine work done, we also provided this document as proof in our investigations with the finance company and I have now had this refunded. The locking wheel nut had ONLY EVER been used at your garage. I had the pads done later on in the year AFTER messaging you, it was never found and they had to saw the locking bolts off! You are the only garage to have used it or even gone into the glove box and that is fact! So please do not state I was ‘abusive’ as it was all factual that you were the only garage to touch this bolt. You are also forgetting that on the 26th September I requested the car be RETURNED to you as it was not fit for purpose.. you laughed in my face and said no. I was very unknowing about where I legally stood and I actually stood well within my rights due to the damage of the car within the first 3 months of ownership and your failed repairs, you wrongly told me I was unable to have the car returned or replaced despite your failed repairs. Now you have not had a response from us regarding your offer, which was not as a gesture of good will as legally the engine was still under warranty and you had to fix it, we asked for the work to have an RAC check as advised by consumer rights and solicitors as your work perviously had been poor, you refused this and gave us the option for a repair and to sign a document after, how are we to know the work had even been done correctly after your multiple failed repairs?! For you not to allow a check on your repairs, we’re you even going to make the repairs?!? We would never have known! We have gone through the finance company, provided them will all FACTUAL proof, they have had a mechanic inspect the damage to the car and they have now stated that the damage for the cars AGE, MILEAGE, and PRICE PAID, is unfit for purpose within the first 3 months of sale and for the cars mileage and age. So please do not state that we have been anything but reasonable and we have fought our court for being ripped off by failed repairs because we have provided enough proof and evidence to show this, hence why the finance company have now taken the car from us, refunded myself, given compensation and cancelled the finance. If we were lying and didn’t have the proof, documents stating from the other garage that the fitting of the engine was poorly done, how would we have finally had the car returned (not to you but the fantastic finance company who had been fair and reasonable) their decision was made purely on fact and proof! It is not defamation, it is truth and proof. It seems that any bad reviews you get you can never accept liability, I think in this case you have to accept wrong doing and apologise. You can not blame every bad review as an attempt to destroy a ‘family’ run business as you do. I went to your business with trust and provided you business, so how am I set to ruin a business? That is a very false statement. You can’t think it’s ok to make repairs that aren’t up to standards to good people who have worked very hard to have their dream car. But unfortunately customer service isn’t the finest. I have never been one to leave reviews, but I am entitled to tell my story and well within my rights to leave a review, Everything I stated I believe is the trust. And the fact I am now rid of the vehicle is proof enough! Therefor I believe I stand by everything I have stated in my review and I TRULY BELIEVE that it is my true opinion and belief that I have had a very poor experience due to the reasons I have stated above with hamworthy car centre. This is my final response to you. I’m glad this is finally over!!!
