I bought my car 4 months ago from this branch and have had nothing but issues. The car itself was fine but they failed to carry out repairs to the car before purchase that was promised l. I paid extra for the paint protection which is a total scam. They failed to provide this and then 3 months later of me chasing this up they finally did it. It was meant to be done in 1 day. 7 days later I was still waiting to receive my car due to short staff. Upon collection of my car they had lost my car key, yet another inconvenience. I have phoned this company nearly into the triple figures over the course of 4 months and not once have I got through to the person I need to talk to without a call back.
I purchased a 2013 Mercedes C63 at the end of September 2020. It was around £23k. I had extensive communication with Scott prior to buying as I live in the Midlands area so I wanted clarification that the car was decent before making the journey up to drive it and make the purchase. Scott was very helpful and reassuring that all was spot on with the car and it came with an extensive RAC warranty and 100 point checklist (or something along those lines). So i was happy to make the long trip with the confirmations I was getting. On arrival I met Scott who again was really friendly and couldn’t do enough for me. I took the car out for a test drive and all seemed ok. You only can do a short drive and unless there is something really, really wrong, you just aren’t going to know. The RAC inspection gave me peace of mind that everything will have been checked over and would be fine. I noticed that the AirCon button would not light up and flashed when pressed and i pointed this out. Scott said they would get it re gassed and it was taken to their nearby garage to be done. It then worked. I made the purchase and drove to the petrol station, opened the filler flap and there was no petrol cap!? I filled up and then called Scott who said, ‘oh they don’t have them as they self seal”. I was dubious but started the drive back when Scott phoned me to say actually it did need a petrol cap and it must have been left at the pumps when they last put fuel in it. He said he would order me one to be delivered to my home. This arrived and was a cheap plastic one which broke a couple of months later! I did not drive the car much for a little while as I’d hurt my back. When I was able to drive it, I got a load of warning messages come up on the dash. This transpired to be a sensor which was easily fixed in a local garage. Scott did pay for the diagnostics which was not covered, which is a positive. So far so good. The garage told me that two of the alloys were cracked and one had already been fixed and cracked again and the tyre was bulging on the inside. Also there was no spare tyre! How had these things not been picked up in their multi point inspection before sale?? I told Scott that I needed two new alloys at the least but ideally all four. He ordered me a spare wheel, the space saver type, which came new from ebay i think, but at least it was new and i now had a spare tyre, a legal requirement and i thought that the new MOT it had on it would have flagged this up? Scott needed some chasing with regard to the alloys and ended up having a 2nd hand alloy delivered, with a tyre on it from some bloke who dropped it off from the back of a van. Upon inspection, it was a different colour alloy. The ones on the car must have been refurbed at some point so the ‘new’ one bought did not match. I has so much trouble now, getting this sorted. They told me to take it to a local alloy wheel place and they found one for me. I did this. They would only pay for one alloy to be refurbed. It needed two alloys fixing but Hillington would only pay for one. Who wants one refurbished alloy that would not then match the other 3?? I stood in the office of the alloy wheel place and literally had the worst calls with Joe, who seems to be the boss? He was so rude and really did not care. The alloy wheel company were disgusted at the treatment they could hear and told me that they would have just sorted all the wheels for me if they had been that garage. In the end The garage gave me a really good deal on having all 4 wheels done, they even repaired the broken one for me at no cost as they were so disgusted with Hillington. The bill was over £700 still and Hillington had to be chased and dragged their heals in paying the £50 ish they had said (I can’t recall the exact amount, but was around that). I loved the car but all these issues with Hillington were really making it seem like I had been sold a rubbish car. With that in mind i took it to Mercedes and paid for them run a full diagnostic on it. The only issue was that the car was very jerky in pulling away from cold. Mercedes agreed this and said they would recommend a new clutch pack for it. I was not able to speak to Hillington by this point due to the alloy wheel saga! So i went direct to the finance company to see if they could apply some pressure. I had to go through everything in fine detail and it was all investigated and the final report that came back might have well been written by Hillington. In fact I could tell sections of it had been copy and pasted from their response, as the sentences did not make sense with past tense all incorrect. I complained about this to the finance company but got nowhere! The aircon had stopped working again by now so I took it into a local RAC approved garage and they put a leak detecting fluid in to see where the leak was coming from. By now the 6 month warranty was getting near to ending and I was still no further forward with having it all resolved. There was nobody I could go to! The air con needs to new compressor - around £500+ to fix and I do not have this to do the repair and Hillington had already told me ‘at some point the car has to be yours and you are responsible for any repairs’. I agree but when the fault was an original one from the very offset, it should be down to the dealer. I have since looked at these reviews on here and wish I had seen them before my dealings with these vile people. All they can say to most negative comments is ‘please provide proof of purchase from Hillington’. Such a cop out! I can do this so don’t even bother saying it. I would appeal for you to resolve my air con issue and if you would like to comment further, feel free. Initially I found Scott very helpful and amenable, however, when things got troublesome, he backed away and let the rude and arrogant Joe take front of stage. I felt and still feel massively let down by Hillington and their total lack of responsibility in getting my car to an acceptable standard. If they even bother to respond to this, no doubt they will say how accommodating they were. This is so far from the truth. I was appalled by the service, or lack of it and total disbelief at how rude and horrid Joe was on the phone. Please do not purchase from here, or if you do find the car of your dreams, as I had, pay for a real inspection on it as they will not! Best of luck! I COULD NOT GIVE ZERO STARS UNFORTUNATELY!!

I have bought 2 cars now from Hillington motor company and on both occasions the service has been excellent from start finish. Staff couldn’t be more helpful, nothing was a hassle. Both cars were immaculate when we picked them up and we have had no issues with them at all. Would definitely recommend Hillington Motor Company.

I paid a £200 refundable deposit to view a car for sale at Hillington Motor Company Glasgow in April 2018 as I was travelling though from Edinburgh. The car was not as stated in the advert. I was most unimpressed that I had travelled through from Edinburgh to view this car which was advertised as in "immaculate condition". The car was covered in scratches, one of the windows had a huge scratch on it, there was four different tyres on the car and every one of the alloys required refurbishing. I raised all of these complaints when I viewed the car and all the salesman could say to me was "are you buying this car or not". He was not interested in the condition or what I was saying. I left the showroom and asked for my deposit to be refunded. I have telephone the company on several occasions wrote letters and emails but to date have still not been refunded my £200. Trading Standards have since investigated this company and advised them that their are risking their trading licence not being renewed but they are not interested and although they said they would refund the monies to Trading Standards no refund has been received. How many more people have paid deposits which have not been refunded???
Staff from Hillington Motor Company Glasgow in response to Steer well clear of this company
We refused to refund your deposit due to you not going ahead with the purchase as agreed, You were happy to proceed with the purchase if we gave you further money off for new brakes and.... this is the best bit... to refurbish 1 alloy, incidentally not any of the alloys on the car but the spare wheel, thats right you wanted the spare wheel of a 8 year old Audi refurbished or you wanted more money off.. the brakes, you weren't happy with, the brakes even though they looked new and there was a invoice stating the brakes had been replaced less than a thousand miles ago, and may I add had just passed a Mot without advisory, you wanted even more money off again. Good Luck
AVOID this garage like the Black Death!! Full of absolute nothingness from all concerned! Too interested in selling some cars which are not fit for purpose or the road! Lie after lie after lie! Told car was checked out by their garage only to find out how the hell it passed a MOT in the. 1st place! Would not recommend Hillington Motor Company in Glasgow.

BEWARE IF YOU BUY FROM HILLINGTON MOTOR COMPANY GET A FULL AA INSPECTION DONE ..... Just had to put my case with solicitors, purchased a £7000.00 VW Polo. Was told by SCOTT that this would be serviced and MOT'd before collection. Asked for an extra warranty and was told no problem they have a good 3rd party company but on day of collection was told that they no longer sold them as they had fallen outwith the company! 2 miles down the road the engine management light came on, turned around and went back to the garage but they had locked up (In fairness it was closing time and they had waited for to to collect as we flew up from Wales) so with no one there I opted to limped back at 50 mph for the 500 mile journey to Wales. Informed SCOTT 1st thing in the morning and put the Polo into a garage to be sorted. They found the 4 spark plugs were completely worn out (Car had 75000 miles and they had never been changed) Odd as it had just been services according to SCOTT and it was found to have one faulty coil pack and the other 3 were working but breaking down intermittently. When I questioned SCOTT about the service he said ... Ahh when I said service I meant we change the oil not service the car!!!!!! What a load of bull. Alarm bells rang so even though SCOTT had put a new MOT on the car I booked it into anther garage for a MOT pre-test. What a surprise NOT, it failed, 2 front tires had damage to the inside walls and the 2 rear were so badly perished that in 3 days they had lost 10 psi. One headlight bulb blown. rear number plate lights had the bulbs missing. 1 front side light bulb missing. Front drivers seat sub-frame was cracked. Brakes were so bad I was told the car should not even be driven. When I had the brakes replaced (Following day) I kept the old parts. All 4 discs were so badly rusted that only 20% of the disc was being used and the disc pads had lumps missing from them and the bit of friction material that was left 2 mm thick . After having all this work done I put the car into Sinclair's main VW dealer for a service. Numerous other miner faults were found including all interior bulbs missing but more worryingly the oil was found to be so old that they commented on the state of it. After spending over £1200.00 in total to get it road worthy I only asked that they pick up the original bill for the 4 spark plug and 4 coil packs (£2 or £300) after 2 months the garage that fitted them informed me they had not been paid by SCOTT of Hillington Motor Company Ltd, 73 Glasgow Rd, Rutherglen, Glasgow G73 1LJ even though all invoices were sent to them and agreed. I phoned SCOTT and he said he would only pay for 1 coil pack. So I have now had to pay a solicitor to pursue this in the courts. Lets hope we can get the high sheriffs involved for there TV program . Guys customer service is everything, yours is non-existent. Why didn't you ring me or email me to say you had a issue with payment. You should be embarrassed to let a car leave your garage in this state. As I told you this was mt daughters 1st car you spoiled the moment. Its not the money that's why I only asked you to cover the coil packs and plugs. Trust me this is not the only site I will put this review on.

I respect a customers right to review, thankfully the vast majority of our reviews are positive. If someone feels they have had a bad experience I think its important to keep the content truthful. Sometimes unforeseen things can happen, not just with second hand cars, new cars also, manufactures provide warranty's on new vehicle to protect against the unforeseen. The car in question here is a 7 year old VW polo having covered 75k miles. Firstly we have never met because contrary to what you've written it was your friend who we collected from Glasgow Airport, from memory it was early afternoon which again contradicts him returning to our place of business to find us closed, saying that your friend had my mobile. he never called to say he had any issues, taking into account, outwith the extensive test drive your friend carried out whilst inspecting the vehicle, it was driven the 20 mile round trip from the airport, I dont think its to much of a stretch to conclude at that point there was no issues. I think the comment your friend made after he had satisfied himself the car was OK, " we would no doubt hear from you because you'll find something to complain about," we should have expected the issues we have had. You did contact us sometime later to inform us you had a issue. we asked you to get the car checked and keep us informed of the problem, from memory I spoke to the repairer who confirmed the car needed a coil pack, a coil pack for this car is £24, so when a invoice arrived for over £300 we contacted the repairer, who advised us you had insisted on replacing all four coil packs and spark plugs, even though it wasn't required. We authorised a coil pack under no circumstances will we pick up the bill for unnecessary work you authorised without any consultation with us. The MOT::having checked online before replying, contrary to what you claim about having a new Mot carried out, no Mot has been carried out, no pre mot has been carried out on the vehicle since the one carried out independently by us. The Mot station we use are independent from us, a family run business, common sense would tell you they wouldn't jeopardize there business or livelihood by not carrying out a mot inspection correctly. as a business we Mot without advisory. Your claim the car had old oil in it is again confuses me, apart from the oil change carried out pre sale, the car was serviced by a Vw main dealer at 67k miles in June 16. feel free to contact VW customer service who will verify that as well as other servicing they've carried out during the cars lifetime. Extended warranty: again your fully aware you asked for a discount rather than taking an extended warranty your invoice will confirm that.So just to conclude I think taking VW own service records. the GOV.UK online Mot history check, I think it can established your review is untruthful.Therefor we will be passing it on to our solicitors and look forward to hearing from yours....finally I will be happy even at this stage to reimburse you for the coil pack the car needed. Edit
I can happily say all was spot on with both the service and the Audi I bought from Hillington Motor Company. They had decent priced cars and were helpful. I recommend.
