I went to Hillside motors based on all their positive reviews, I bought a car , and drove it away today, staff were very pleasant and definitely no hard sell.. but I was very impressed by the quality of all of the cars on their forecourt , I know it doesn’t tell you the quality of the engines underneath the bonnet, but surely it’s a good indicator. I do know the car I bought does not make me feel like I have bought a used car, it is in very good condition, the drive is smooth and the car is a pleasure to drive. I do not understand the negative reviews on any of the sites, but I do understand why they are few and far between each other, as they say , you can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time. I would highly recommend Hillside motors to anyone I know looking for a used car... thank you :)
I made an appointment with Hillside Motors. We were there right on the dot, but apparently all sales people were busy. A guy gave us a key and said he'd send a sales person as soon as one is available. After we looked at the car and waited half hour listening to him tell us how busy the are, we walked inside to find the salesman in question pushing papers around his desk. He then started asking us if we would definitely buy the car after we test drive it, because they have to sanitise it. That's after we've spent ten minutes in and around the car touching everything. I don't know what these people's game is, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
In January, I visited Hillside Motors to enquire further about an Audi A3 they had for sale. I was pressured into putting down a £300 deposit on it as they refused to let me test drive it without putting the money down, which they said they would refund if a mechanical fault was found with the car. At a later point, we found out the car had an oil leak on its most recent MOT. We were reluctant to go ahead with the purchase, and instead of refunding as agreed they would, they tried to spin my words to make it seem like I was pulling out of the agreement out of choice. I am seeking further legal advice to try and reclaim my deposit.

Michael. Very strange how many excellent reviews state that we work to a "no hard sale policy".... I agree somewhat to your review however this is our course of events. You expressed an interest in a very sort after Audi A3 we had in stock to which we had another phone call on the car whilst you were viewing. Your deposit was subject to a satisfactory test drive to stop the other client coming down to buy before you, your choice not ours !!!! Test drive completed and you went away happy. The conditions of sale was to identify an oil leak which was only an advise of a previous MOT amongst a service, all included in the price. Our technicians cleaned the area of oil, done the service and carried out an extended road test then checked for leakage. They concluded the oil was old residue left over from previous services carried when the filter was removed (very common). We spoke to you and even offered for you to instruct a third party such as AA or RAC to inspect for you. You point blank refused and demanded your deposit back. You simply could not afford the car or you decided it was not the car for you. We complied with our side of the deal you failed to complete yours. We have offer to keep the deposit on file for you to use against another car but your response and I quote ' I hope you all get cancer' That is totally unacceptable behaviour from a dad who's son is a doctor. We have since sold the car to a delighted customer and low and behold there is no oil leak...…..well there's a surprise ! your custom we simple do not want or need.
Found right car from good detailed description, helpful phone call to check and arrange visit, found car exactly as described. Not hassled by staff and allowed to inspect thoroughly and take good length test drive in my own time. Straightforward approach to sale- thankfully there was no 'pitch' or haggling over discount as already a good price! Car was serviced before collection and 3 month free warranty was reassuring. Car has been trouble free since and I remain very pleased with experience as not stressful at all. Thank you John and Shaun, definitely recommend Hillside Motors.

Thank you for your feedback. Much appreciated.
I was looking for a used car back in January, and found a Peugeot 207 SW at Hillside which caught my interest. Having never bought a used car through a dealer before I was a little hesitant, but the reviews seemed good so I figured that was the best starting point (I would steer clear of a dealer with no reviews!). I called and spoke to John who gave me some more details about the car and I arranged to go and have a test drive. A day so later I arrived and the car was still available (i would not expect them to hold it if some else got in there first ....) - all looked good and drove well so I decided to buy it. There were a couple of things I spotted on the test drive which John noted down and made sure all were sorted out before I collected the car a few days later. I took out the extra warranty for peace of mind but 2 months on and I have had no issues at all. It's proven to be a reliable little car. Very pleased with my purchase I would recommend Hillside Motors from my experience in January. There is always a chance that a used car develops an issue which no one could foresee, but I believe that their experience would minimise that risk and give more confidence to buyers like me. Thanks guys - my commute is a whole lot easier now.

Very kind words Steve, thank you. Great review to express our commitment to all our customers. Hope you continue to get the best out of your car. We hope we can do more business in the future.
Manny dealt with me honestly and efficiently, no rubbish and had a good sense of humour. If I were to buy another car I would return to Hillside Motors.

Recently bought a vauxhall meriva from hillside motors and would like to say the car drives great john who dealt with me was a pleasure very informative would recommend.
We bought our previous car from Hillside Motors which was great, however the car we have now which was bought about 2 months ago is very noisy on getting it home we found 2 problems which were very obvious can't believe no one noticed them, not happy this time
The service and after sales from Hillside Motors has been poor. I have had multiple issues with the car and have had to go back and forth to get it sorted and it's costing me a lot of money. I wouldn't recommend this dealership to anyone!
Shaun from Hillside Motors Ltd in response to Very, very poor.
