I purchased a Peugeot Partner from J&M Specialist Cars in March 2024. The car had just passed its MOT. During the purchase, I asked directly whether the timing belt had been replaced or checked, and I was told they only had a limited service history from the leasing company and ‘don’t know’. They handed me a 2-page printout, saying this was all they had. Less than three months after purchase, in June, the check engine light came on. I contacted the garage and was casually told to drive the van on the motorway to “clear the DPF.” In August, the car broke down on the motorway due to a timing belt failure, which caused engine damage and required an emergency recovery. I emailed the garage formally under the Consumer Rights Act, requesting assistance and clarification. They never responded directly — instead, they hired a solicitor to write back, denying any liability and shifting blame onto me for not replacing the timing belt myself. They also claimed I “accepted” the fault by having my own garage investigate the breakdown (despite me being stranded with a non-drivable vehicle). Shockingly, the solicitor’s email included a full 6-page vehicle history that I had never been given or told existed. This is in direct contradiction to what I was told at the point of sale — that the 2 pages I received were “everything they had.” After escalating the matter to the finance company and the Financial Ombudsman, I was informed in April 2025 that the vehicle had not been appropriately maintained, key maintenance history had not been disclosed, and it was not in a fit condition when sold. The ruling stated that the car should not have been sold in that state. This entire process took over 8 months, and none of it was handled professionally or ethically by the garage. Avoid J&M Specialist Cars if you value honesty, accountability, or professionalism. They sold me a van that broke down after a few months, withheld full service history, ignored legal responsibilities under the Consumer Rights Act, and only engaged via lawyers who denied liability. It took a ruling from the Financial Ombudsman to resolve the matter.

I purchased my very first van this week from these guys and what an absolute pleasure it was. Doug who sorted it out for me went above and beyond to make sure it was up to scratch, taxed and MOT ed, even though the parking sensors are needed to be replaced they are willing to have it back at a later date to replace them for free AND offer me a courtesy vehicle till replaced, in my eyes is worth a 6 star rating!! I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to purchase a vehicle from these guys!

Purchased a Ford Wildtrak from Doug and his team after getting seriously messed about by another main Ford dealer for weeks. The difference in customer communication mannerisms and friendliness was unbelievable! I’m sure J & M could teach the boys at Ford a few things when it comes to dealing with customers A fantastic experience from start to finish reasonably priced quality cars from an honest family run team. We visited the garage in April 2023 and after a friendly chat and a couple of simple hassle free test drives we purchased a Discovery Sport, I have to say the whole experience was a pleasure and Doug goes above and beyond to be efficient well mannered and helpful, which I have to say seems to come naturally, I had reason to contact the garage a short while later with a minor problem which was rectified without hesitation to a successful conclusion, I cannot recommend this garage enough. Bought a Ranger just before Christmas, no pushy sales pitch and a good price. Had it a few weeks and found a few problems. Contacted Doug who said to drop it off and gave me a truck to use while it was being sorted. No question no problem, truck sorted. Brilliant service

I bought a Land Rover Evoque few weeks ago. It has few minor work needed to be done for scratch on rear right door, windscreen chip and rear seat replace. Prior purchase I had a deal with J & M to repair those outstanding job. I returned the vehicle the other week to get the job done as per agreement. When l turned up to collect the car none of the job was done professionally. Scratch and windscreen chip still visible there seat was replaced but it was so cheapy and loose fit as it comes off its position without any force ( safety issue) . My car was literally sat there for 5 days without proper job been carried out shame. They never say no but the amount of work and effort they put to resolve the issue is absolute crapy. Its not about whether l can or can not repair with another garage but all about the relationship and trust between your company and customer. If you can not do the job please let me know so that l dont lost my time and effort. I have been forced to write this review so that loyal and honest customer doesn't get affected similar me. I wouldn’t bother to recommend being honest.
