Sold my daughter a car that had a clutch cable that was about to snap. Passed it off as just stiff. My daughter put up with it for a month before breaking down and telling me she couldn’t drive it as it was almost impossible to get into gear. I tried it and was shocked. Took it to a Halfords Autocentre who confirmed clutch was chafed, meaning it had been tampered with and ready to go. JMR, after I complained bitterly said they’d put £250 towards a new clutch and cable. Eventually after I took it to a Garage in Chatham to get it done I was told by the garage that they hadn’t been told to change the cable but just the clutch. After more hassle I got them to put £50 towards a £125 new cable back in Dover. All through this they had no understanding that my daughter was driving a car where she got into dangerous situations at roundabouts etc with a 5 month old baby. To me they are not bothered by this and sold a car that had an obvious fault that even they knew was there when the car was bought. Do NOT trust this Company and get everything double checked before you leave. The car I bought was not fit to be on the road and JMR think that because they paid for a lot of the repairs that they are the nice guys. I should not have had to pay anything and they should have had the car fully checked before selling and not just be flippant about the clutch being stiff. JMR Cars shocking attitude.

Hi Wayne, many thanks for your feedback and we are sorry that you feel this way. As you know, we take our customer care very seriously and like to think that we go above and beyond other dealerships in helping our customers where we can. You were all happy with the car when you had test drove the vehicle and at point of sale, After driving the car for near 2 months you mentioned that the clutch was too stiff to drive. A clutch is a wear and tear issue that is not covered by any warranty due to the fact that this can be worn out after a day of heavy use. We agreed to replace the clutch out of GOOD WILL and under NO OBLIGATION. After we paid £300 for the clutch to be replaced from our own pockets you mentioned you would not take the car home unless the cable was also replaced, which at the time was a working part. As we use genuine parts for our vehicles this needed 2 days to be ordered in, however after ringing round countless places we booked you in to a place close to your home that said they could see you at 9am the following morning to get you back on the road as soon as possible. We had then agreed that a further £50 contribution from ourselves would make you all happy and be the end of the matter and we transferred this money to yourself immediately without any proof of work done as a further gesture of GOOD WILL. It was therefore disappointing to see that after the work had been carried out you had changed your mind once again and sent an email demanding that a further £65 should be paid to you or else a bad review would be left. We believe that a £350 contribution from ourselves and £65 contribution from yourself for a clutch replacement is more than fair for a wear and tear item that had gone from being fine at point of sale to needing to be replaced 2 months later. We are sorry once again that we didn't meet your expectations but we feel that we did are upmost best to help you get back on the road and treated you with the greatest respect as we do all of our customers upholding our core values.
