For anyone reading, we’d like to briefly clarify what happened so customers can have a complete and accurate picture. During our standard pre-sale inspection, we identified an oil leak that would require a significant repair. Rather than proceed with the sale, we immediately informed the customer and offered two options: 1. Allow us to complete the repair at our cost, or 2. Receive a full refund. The customer opted for a refund. Because the payment had been made by the client (Mrs Akhter) through multiple third-party card and finance providers such as Klarna, the refund process had to be completed through those providers under their Section 75 procedures. We confirmed to all providers that we did not dispute the refund AT ALL, and from that point the timeline was determined entirely by the external payment companies. We also want to reassure readers that Kneeton Hill operates under one registered business name and has done since 2007 and is fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are a long-established business and take transparency very very seriously. Although this outcome was not ideal for either party, the situation arose because we chose to be proactive, honest, and protective of the customer by not selling a vehicle until it met our standards, regardless of age or mileage. We remain committed to fair dealing, clear communication, and high preparation standards for every car we sell.
