With all due respect I would not recommend at all. Worst experience ever! Police got involved as he wouldn’t give the keys of the car. As he was claiming that he did a work which I didn’t ask him to do. The car we bought with 7k I had to spend and other 3k to fix gear box. 3 Lowes of Larne (owner) 5 months ago O so being told by the Police, that you yourself called to our premises, because you didn't want to pay for the work you has asked us to carry out for you was not enough for you today ? When they came and they also told you that you were in the wrong and that you needed to pay your invoice before you could get your car back was not enough for you. Your friend did indeed buy a car from us well over a year ago for £5995 not £7000 that you have stated you have also stated you have had to spend £3000 to fix the gearbox but you only had the car recovered from us today so this is more lies and more wrong facts and figure's from you once again ! The car was well outside of its years warranty (12 months) that we gave with the car when it developed a fault within its Automatic gearbox. you then asked us to look at it and we agreed to change the gearbox oil and filter to see if that would make it any better however it did improve it but an internal fault still remained in the gearbox and we told you this would need to taken to an automatic gearbox specialist for this repair and we gave you a few numbers for repairers and you called them and got a price for the repair you then said you didn't want to pay for that repair or the gearbox oil and filter change that you had us carry out for you. You and other people that you brought with you then turned up today demanding we give you the keys to you friends car and told us you were not going to pay for the work you asked us to carry out. When we said that we would not release your car to you or your friend with out payment you all got very abusive and start to threaten staff and our business if we did not do what you wanted. Again we explained you needed to pay for the work we had carried out for you and at this point some 2 hours after you arrived you called the police to our premises in the hope they would make us hand over your keys without payment. However when the Police arrived you became aggressive towards them because they wouldn't do what you wanted and it took them over an hour to show you the error of what you expected us to do. They also pointed out that you could not drive the car on the road until you got it fix properly due to the gears jumping and deselecting within the gearbox which would be a danger towards other road users and they told you if they seen you on the road driving the car they would impound your car to which you told them you would drive it and they wouldn't catch you so even your attitude towards the Police that you called was not good and you thought everyone else was wrong and you were right and could do what ever you wanted. however when told you would be arrested if you proceeded with your attitude and aggressive nature you then agreed to pay your outstanding invoice and had a recovery lorry collect your friends car and take it away for you. But now here we are with a 1 star review and you still thinking you have been wronged because you don't think you need to pay your bills like everyone else in the world has to. Why? So car just passed mot less than 80miles ago a few weeks .My daughter went to stop at a red light and as she went to brake to stop at the lights the car shuttered and failed to stop safely and near caused an accident I contacted a Mechanic who came to the car at the side of the road as she didnt feel safe in the car and the mechanic drove the car and stopped within a few seconds got out and said the car is not safe on inspection at the roadside he checked the brakes and explained there was no way the car could have passed the mot he showed me the brake discs i was in shock he also found front shocks where also leaking and has replaced discs and pads and I have also had shocks and mounts to be replaced I contacted lowes of larne to be told there was only 5 days left on the warranty and they could fit the car for 2 or 3 weeks which is after the warranty and was told by Kenny that the mot centre do not visually inspect the discs or brakes !!! My problem is the fairness and the honesty and the safety I feel I've been robbed and my daughters safety also put at risk personally I will not recommend lowes of larne and shall next be contacting the DVSA to find out why my daughters vehicle was passed with these dangerous and major faults In the time she's owned the car she's had a gearbox rebuilt , brake pads changed , washer jet replaced due to crack , also pressure test on coolant system for leaks with a sealant put in , I've also and paid from another mechanic had discs and pads replaced a rear tail light replaced 2 front seats repaired due to stiching separation from auto trim and now I'm going to pay to have front shocks front springs mounts and drop links done also the rear springs and shocks and rear drums and shoes to give me peace of mind for the safety of my daughter ! KENNY LOWE from Lowes of Larne in response to Avoid avoid avoid
Hi we have checked our records and can not find where you have ever bought a car from our dealership so if you would like to contact us with your proper details and what car you think you bought from us we will be only to happy to help you with your issues if in fact you have any
I have been horribly disappointed with Lowes of Larne, the vehicle I purchased in good faith over lockdown and on the basis of their good reputation turned out to have dangerously unsafe brakes, a bodged fix on damage to the sump and, possibly most shocking, an incorrect sized tyre fitted that damaged the tracking system. It cost over £2,500 and spent over a month in the shop just to get it on the road again legally. Despite multiple emails and phone calls, the issue has not been resolved. This company DO NOT respond to emails, communication is an absolute nightmare. They will answer the phone but only to give excuses, delay tactics and outright denial. They didn’t even provide documentation for the vehicle until chased to do so, and still haven’t provided an owners manual, evidence of their “60-point” check which should have identified the issues or even an MOT certificate. The AA warranty is not worth the paper it’s printed on. I genuinely believed we were past the days of car dealers behaving like this.

KENNY LOWE from Lowes of Larne in response to Dangerously unsafe vehicle
Hi Storm Rae we are very sorry to read your review here that you are horribly disappointed with the service and response you have received from us on the 2009 VW Van with 150k on it you bought from us over 6 months ago. And that you think the AA Warranty you were given is not worth the paper that it is written on but as with every story there are two sides so we would like to point out the other side. You took your van to England and when it needed MOT’d you took it to a garage in Suffolk England who told you a list of things that in their opinion your van needed to pass the MOT in their garage mainly brakes pads, brake shoes, brakes disc’s, brake fluid, a brake pipe, a few bulbs also service items like oil, oil filter waste disposal charges etc. You also informed us that the garage you took it to had told you there was only about 50% of the life of the brakes left and that’s why you should change them, they also told you that as one of our vans tyres was of a different size by a few millimetres and that this was dangerous and unsafe and that would damage your tracking something that is wrong as this van had past it’s last government inspected MOT in Northern Ireland with these tyres on it and I think if it pasted the government MOT it should have been good enough and safe enough to pass theirs but there again the government are not getting paid to repair your van so they will give you a new MOT cert. So now to the warranty cover we would like to point out that your AA Warranty or any warranty for that matter is not there to cover your costs of maintenance or MOT work on your van and we find it hard to understand why you are unhappy with this out come as maintaining a vehicle is part of ownership of one and a warranty is for mechanical breakdown not for when a garage tells you to replace brakes pads etc at 50% of their life sorry. As for your 60 point inspection that was carried out on your van as the same as your MOT it is only what they inspected and see on that day and can not be held responsible for your van 6 months or more later. As for not answering your calls or emails we are sorry again that we fell below your standards on this but as with most business in N.I we were in a lockdown at the time.
S in response to Dangerously unsafe vehicle
While I’m delighted to have finally found a method of written communication that Lowes of Larne actually respond to, I think it’s important to note that this is the only formal response to my complaint that has been received since my initial call over 6 weeks ago. As you know, being bought as a project for conversion, the vehicle has done less than 700miles since purchase and that includes the 500mile journey home. The significant time and costs involved in dealing with sump damage repaired with filler and tracing the tracking problem that resulted from fitting of an incorrect tyre could have been far better spent actually converting it. As the vehicle previously belonged to the garage itself it must be embarrassing not to have picked up on these faults or the disintegrating brake backing plates. Either that, or you knew exactly what you were letting me drive 500miles home in, in which case, shame on you. For any readers, you can see for yourself how Lowes approach customer service. Lowes, should you wish to continue communicating here I’m happy to oblige, though I believe there are far more professional ways to deal with customer complaints. I will update my reviews according to response.

Poor customer service and communication, the after-sale even worse ignoring any questions. I have electrical problems and battery issues in a Mercedes Benz, a bit surprising because I was told they will check the car for me before giving me the keys. Lowes of Larne doesn't check cars before you buy, Be aware. I'm doing directly with Mercedes Benz Belfast because this guys are useless. Get the car fully checked by your own mechanic before you buy if you really like one of their cars.
