Rupert the salesman was extremely helpful and hi honest. Always brought my cars from marshams and never been disappointed. Rupert went out of his way to accomodate what I wanted and once I viewed the car swiftly sorted out paperwork and trade in. Thank you Rupert 😀

I don’t normally do this but I have to . I don’t like when people lie to me in the face , i bought a car from them , all good nothing wrong with the car , only thing is that the rear headrests were missing, on the day i take it they promised me they order the headrests and i would have them in a couple of days, well this didn’t happen . I called them at least twice a week until now to hear another lies. Avoid !

After a full days travel from Edinburgh to Kent, I bought (according to the sales agent) the owners daily driver, a BMW X6 at a cost of just over £32,000. On the day of collection it was beautiful sunny day, the car had been detailed by the garage, it looked great from what I could see as I headed in to the garage to complete the paperwork. After completing all paperwork inside I went outside to collect the vehicle, I did a brief look round the vehicle and I did spot damage to the back bumper, to which the sales agent stated, its a second hand vehicle, its normal wear, although not particularly happy with his response I had an 8 hour drive to get home, so said nothing more as I really wanted to get underway as I had spent the previous day commuting down and didn’t want to hang around any longer if I wanted to get home at a reasonable time. The vehicle was parked really close to to other vehicles, so close, the sales agent had to get in and move the car forwards a few feet to allow me to get in, after this I got into the vehicle and set everything up for the drive home and left. The next day I got to see the car properly it wasn't as sunny and began noticing that damage, chips, a small dent by the fuel cover, scratches… literally every panel. I emailed straight away to sales@marshams email and awaited a response, weeks went by, nothing!! I eventually thought that clearly my email had been disregarded, so I left a review with trustpilot, within an hour the sales agent who sold me the car, tried to call me. I was at work at the time and couldn’t answer, I then received an email asking me to remove the review and the owner who was on holiday at the time would look at the problem and try to resolve the issues I have with the vehicle upon his return. I didn’t want to remove the review, as I would prefer to have amended it and given a true representation of my complaint and how they dealt with it, for which they could have excelled by giving great customer service and resolving the issue to a satisfactory standard. 8 days later, The owner has returned from holiday, I emailed him directly to see where we were with the situation, I also included a quote from a well known body repair garage in Edinburgh. The quote price is £2225.64 The owners response was to ask me for photos, which I sent but I also stated that the quote gave a better representation because the photos aren't great quality. I also mentioned that if he drove the car on a daily basis, he would be fully aware of the damage, as its obviously more noticeable when you see the car every day. I also offered to take the vehicle to any place of his choosing for an additional quote to ensure it was fair representation. The Response - Unable to uphold the complaint for the following reasons - When you collected the vehicle, you signed a handover sheet, this detailed that the vehicle is not new and there will be signs of previous use. You agreed with the terms of this document and accepted the vehicle condition. You inspected the vehicle and requested that the vehicle be moved from the collection area so that you could examine the vehicle more thoroughly. The vehicle was also road tested by yourself, prior to completing the transaction and removing from Marshams premises. It would be reasonable to expect stone chips and light marks on a used vehicle of that age and mileage It is unclear if all the stone chips were present at the point of sale It would be unreasonable to respray body panels for a stone chip. The normal practice would be to touch up stone chips with a touch in brush. These can be purchased directly from BMW or alternative suppliers. Light body imperfections can be removed by polishing the affected area. Jason (the owner) is 100% correct I should have checked the vehicle properly before leaving. However I signed the handover documents before I had even seen the vehicle properly and a road test was not completed at any stage, nor was it offered. The documents his sales staff are asking you to sign should have been done after this proper inspection, which would be the correct way of doing it not before!! He also states that its unclear if the stone chips were present at the time of sale…. The car was his daily driver… he operates a car sales business. He’s well aware of what condition the bodywork was in!! To ask for photos… even after a quote was sent was completely disingenuous and him attempting to shift the blame to me. He also states that chips should be touched up with a touch up brush, as he is no doubt aware that method would vastly reduce a resale price as is not proper repair, as the vehicle is a £32,000 car second hand… its not really the response you would expect from a dealer. I would strongly urge any customer wanting to purchase a vehicle from Marshams to tread carefully to inspect it thoroughly. These guys aren't your friends, they definitely don’t care once you have left. Don’t believe this garages reviews also, they are being manipulated to make them look better than they are. The owner definitely lives up to the dodgy car salesman image in my eyes. Disingenuous, not interested after he's taken your money!!

I was told the cars bodywork was in good condition by Brandon, it was delivered covered on scratches. I’ve spent about 10 hours trying to T Cut the majority of them out but I am going to have to take it into a bodywork expert. I rang up to complain but despite being told to expect a call back it never came until I rang them. I was then told all that Marshams would do is return £100 as a goodwill gesture despite the damage being at least £400 to fix. Again I had to chase this to get it return. Avoid at all costs, absolute shambles of a company once they have taken your money

I went to visit Marshams after seeing a car on Autotrader. After inspecting it I noticed a small dent above the door. Other than that, the car looked immaculate. The agent said that they would remove the dent and that I could collect the car 3 days later and leave my car in part exchange. The agent said that he would contact me and when he didn’t and the 3 days passed, I emailed him, but he never replied. I tried multiple times to contact him and eventually he contacted me back saying that it would take a following week because there was a scuff on the boot that also needed doing. This was news to me as there was no scuff on the boot when I viewed it. More days passed and I still hadn’t heard from the agent, so I contacted them again and never got a reply. Out of frustration I contacted them through their live chat and told them I didn’t want the car and that I wanted my deposit refunded and low and behold they contacted me back straight away, all apologetic and saying that the car would be ready in a few days. My car tax was due the day before I had to collect the car, so I had to tax it which was annoying knowing that I would only be doing this for one day. While I was collecting the car the agent admitted the reason that it took longer was because the car had a lot more scratches and scuffs than I knew about and on the day I viewed it they had filled them in with black marker pen. As you can imagine, this came as quite a shock and he assured me that all the marks had now been taken care of when they had sorted the small dent. The car looked good. so I took it and left my car in part exchange. 8 weeks later and my car has a lot more scuffs and scratches than when I first bought it, so they had marker penned some of them and not sorted them out properly as he suggested. I still hadn’t had my tax refund (It usually takes a maximum of 6 weeks) so I contacted DVLA and to my shock, they said the car was still in my name. I contacted Marshams and they confirmed they hadn’t sent the v5 off and they didn’t know where it was. My old car had been sold at auction, so they didn’t even know who had it. They told me I would likely have to apply for a replacement v5, for a car I no longer own! No apology and no offer of help or acceptance of the problem that they caused. All they said was that they would look into things and be back in touch. They haven’t. No one has contacted me and I doubt anyone will. I am now having to sort this out through DVLA myself which is proving very difficult. I’m disgusted with the way this whole thing has been dealt with and how dishonest they have been about the scuffs and scratches. My current situation is that someone has my old car which is still in my name, I don’t know who, and they could be doing anything in it to which I will be liable for. If you are in any doubt about buying a car from Marshams, don’t. Avoid at all costs or else end up in a similar situation as me!

Would give 0 stars if I could. Very unprofessional! Went to see a car which we liked and decided to get. My circumstances changed and therefore needed a bigger car. Explained the situation to the sales man and he was very pushy saying the prepared the car for us especially (although if you wanted to sell the car you would have had to anyways) We then decided to just take the car but take the warranty off then they said they will give a discount on the car. But to keep the warranty wouldn't take no for an answer! The reason we wanted to cancel.. it they forcibly are selling it. When we said just cancel the warranty they turned around and said we will keep your £1000 deposit and at no point during the sale did they say it was non refundable. Now waiting on them to collect the car still. Wasn't a cheap car over £15,000! If you want an unprofessional service then feel free to go to these guys.

Worst Service I have ever received! Still waiting on the deposit refund I was promised by your manager as the car was not up to standard. Bumpers not aligning (at all) I have photos, stone chips covered with what looked like tip-ex, back bumper bubbling and you let me drive from Swansea to Kent knowing the car was in this state let alone driving half way there the week before only to get halfway and told that he car wouldn't be ready! I suggest you get back to me as I have phoned 3 times now and still getting NOWHERE! I will be reporting you to watchdog if don't get a reply or a message back from your manager! What gets better is even the owner of the garage said the car shouldn't be the way it is! please refund me my money!

Brought a car in aug 2018 and within 4 months I had to have the flywheel and clutch changed. After purchasing warranty they refused to pay for this however under the consumer rights act they had to pay for it. They only reimburse me for the clutch as they said the flywheel didn’t need changing. Then went on to ask to see the old flywheel 4 weeks after it was disposed off after me asking if they needed any evidence. I’ve recently found out they have missold me warranty after the Kia I brought already had warranty on the car. They took the stickers off the car stating it had warranty. I’m now in the process of finding my paper work to get. Refund on the warranty that one I have never used or have had any use for and 2 the fact the car already had warranty. The company is so bad. The dealers are very peer pressuring and there cars are awful. I know someone else in my local area this has happened too do and we live 60 odd miles away from Maidstone.

Jason Golder from Marshams in response to Awful cars

Hi Shannon, As detailed in 2018 the warranty was unable to support your claim. This is situation was created because your garage failed to follow the claims process. When we became aware of your initial complaint, we requested a copy of the communication between yourself and your repairing dealer, from the warranty company. The transcript of the conversation documented clearly, that the repairing dealer strip and inspect before proceeding further, however they did not do this. The warranty company then agreed to assist with the claim if the repairing garage could produce the faulty components for inspection, which they also refused to produce. It was the warranty companies belief that components had been replaced which did not require replacement and they refused to support the claim. However Marshams did pay a goodwill payment to assist you in this matter. I am sorry that you were not fully satisfied. We would always try and help however on this occasion we were unable to assist fully due to the evidence and situation that had developed prior to our involvement.
