Dealer willing to take my deposit albeit this was outside their own terms and conditions ie I had not test driven the car. Appointment made to view and drive this car but on arrival discovered the MOT had expired. The only way I could reserve the car was to play £500 deposit that would be refunded if I did not approve the car on the test drive. Furthermore they insisted I pay the £500 by bank transfer rather than debit card. I later discovered this removed any chargeback rights with my bank I felt mislead and did not proceed with purchase and they refused to refund the £500 against was they had verbally agreed Would not use in future or recommend to anyone

Good morning, Thank You for your feedback, your case has been passed on to Management to review and we would appreciate your patience in the meantime, you placed a deposit on a vehicle after viewing it on site and subject to a test drive, after placing the deposit we took the vehicle of sale and started all the pre sales prep work which included a full engine service, Mot, Cam Belt Kit and Water Pump change, all as per your instructions, during the process we called and informed you that a bonnet catch was on back order and that the vehicle will not be ready as per the scheduled test drive date, you were still happy to test drive the vehicle if we secured the catch in place, the test drive then took place on Friday the 8th March 2024, after the test drive you informed the staff member that you were happy to proceed and that we should continue with the works, Management were informed of this and we continued with the process, the following day you then informed us that you have change your mind without giving any valid reason, we are not an unreasonable garage to deal with and always try and work with our customers, however, we also expect the same from our customers, you were informed that your case has been passed to Management but normally at this stage you would forfeit the deposit, with regards to your deposit made, all payments in and out of the business are now made via bank transfer, the policy was adopted by us many years ago after a fraudulent payment was made by a stolen card and we had to suffer the loss, you are protected by statutory and consumer law, please check with your bank and they will advise you in accordance.
