March 2023 - Pre-sale was great - Callum and Robert provided a personal service and we came up with a deal for my new VW Tourareg and my toddler loved the soft play area and toy cars. I left feeling positive and excited about our new family car, which I was told would be ready to collect in a few days. I was due to pick up the car on the Saturday and Callum called me on the Friday to advise he'd call me later that day to confirm and he did not. I called the branch multiple times all weekend to be advised someone would call me back and this did not come to fruition, which left me feeling incredibly frustrated and anxious. I had cancelled family plans that weekend to pick up the car and started the process of number plate retention and changing insurance and was left in limbo. Callum eventually called me back on the Monday and said the car would be ready to pick up on Friday and would call me before hand to give assurance everything was OK. This did not happen, again undermining the Peter Vardy brand and not fulfilling promises made. I would not feel so aggrieved if one of the dozens of staff members had taken time out to return my calls and keep me informed - a basic aspect of customer service, which I did explain to Callum and co. The day finally comes pick up my new car and instead of feeling excitement, I'm full of dread as just waiting for something to go wrong at the last minute. Not that anyone from Peter Vardy would have informed me beforehand anyway. Needless to say, upon arrival I'm left waiting for almost an hour for someone from the handover team to see me, despite being on time for my appointment. Peter Vardy already have my money so I'm somewhat captive at this point. NB: When buying a car in cash with Peter Vardy - you need to transfer the money two days prior to the day you pick it up. The car originally only had one key and I was assured that a spare key would be cut and ready for me to pick up. Guess what hadn't happened?! We had also agreed that the car needed new tyres at the point of sale, as they were very close to the minimum standard - they did not fulfill this promise either. The service book had not been stamped and I had to chase this and I highly doubt the gearbox had been serviced as agreed either. The car had been valeted to a substandard level; I found hair elastics, coffee stains and muddy footprints on the back of the seats. My two year old could have done a better valet job. The rear windscreen screenwash does not work. Peter Vardy had also taken a liberty and had applied a decal of their logo to the rear of car without my consent, as I certainly do not wish to be advocating this brand based on my shoddy experience. I did let my feelings be known to Callum, Hayley and a manager (Craig?) onsite and I promised a gift voucher / Groupon to be emailed to me by means of an apology. Again, another empty Peter Vardy promise. When I queried the lack of returning calls, I was informed that the telephone system is "terrible" and I'd be better emailing the branch, albeit I had already tried this over the weekend I was due to pick up the car and was met with tumbleweed at every opportunity. It then took two weeks to arrange for the spare care key to be made by "Cheap Car Keys Scotland", which was not a like-for-like replica of the original. I emailed Callum to explain this; the key is not key less entry or key less start and sticks in the ignition. Again, no response. Overall, what should have been an exciting experience was ruined by lack of communication, broken promises and trust. My stomach now churns when I hear the Peter Vardy car adverts on the local radio station and I wouldn't trust them like a fart against the wind.

I bought a car from Peter Vardy Motherwell. When I went and saw the car, everyone was very friendly and tried to help. after the test drive I reported a problem with the speaker in the windshield (driver's side) they said they would fix it before I get the car. I took all possible assurances from them. The day I picked up the car, I noticed that the windshield had 3 cracks (chips). I told them I wouldn't sign the contract if it wasn't resolved. When I saw the car, there was nothing on it. They promised to send someone to fix my windshield that same week. I signed the contract and got into the car. Before I left, I opened the front windows. The car was washed so well that I scratched both my windows because of them! between the window seals was gravel and sand. I got out of the car and went to report the problem and they said they would fix it. I still haven't solved the windows. (after almost 2 years). The guy with the windshield didn't come and I had to call him for 3 months to fix my windshield. The speaker issue has not been resolved even now. I have reported it month after month, to no avail. After 5 months of phone calls with petervardy and HR, complaints to customer service, the EGR valve broke. I called them and no one answered the phone. when they answered and heard my name and what car I bought, they hung up on me. I went to the garage and they let me wait for 2 hours to schedule me for service in another 2 months. until finally, when they checked that it was the egr valve, they told me to pay for the diagnosis and that my insurance does not cover the EGR VALVE. "It's been a long time since I bought the car and the egr valve may have worn out." If I report the problem 5 months after buying the car and everyone laughs at me, won't answer my phone, won't take my car in for service, where is my fault? after almost two years nothing has been resolved with my insurance. I have petervardy insurance + CarCare insurance. I paid a lot of money on insurance to end up fixing it myself? I do not recommend this company to anyone, before you buy the car everyone is friendly, after you signed the contract they ignore you and avoid you! In short: from the first day I got the car from them, I was very disappointed. the car inside was full of dirt and very dirty! broken windshield, scratched windows. I have all the assurances I saw on the sheet when I was offered, the employees are very incompetent, they don't answer the phone and when you go to them they promise they will fix it. after two years in which I gave them the chance to repair my egr valve under warranty, I decided to leave a review with my experience! AVOID PETERVARDY!

Purchased a car from Motherwell branch on the 17th may 2023. On the day I collected the car I had to take it back to them due to the engine management light coming on, this is something that should have been picked up on an MOT which is now leaving me to question the validity of the MOT. We are now on the 19th June, car still not fixed and still no idea when it will be ready. I still have not received the v5 and the last time it was issued on the DVLA website was in march so they haven't even bothered to send the V5 to get it updated! This place needs a full staff overhaul from the bottom right up to management as it seems none of their staff have any level of competence! AVOID!!!

Lynne D in response to Abysmal place,

Same here. Bought the car in March, as I was leaving the passenger door wouldn’t unlock.. needed a new bolt! A month later it had an oil leak so back again it went. June and on the way to the airport the engine warning light came on and all power lost on the slip road, they said it was a spark plug!! And now here we’re are in Oct and yes you’ve guessed it, broke down on the motorway. Engine warning light again. RAC said it’s the timing belt and if it’s too badly worn I will need a new engine…. See what the ‘mechanic’ at PV say tomorrow. Avoid this garage at all costs folks.

What a bunch of cowboys went to buy a car which by the time we got to dealership was mysteriously sold but 10 minutes later the car was NOT sold but appeared in the scrap yard up the back of showroom with a large dent in the wing wouldn't trust the young salesman to sell 10p mixtures from the back of an ice cream van as the lies we got told was incredible management team not much better and I think stevie wonder was running the bodyshop as the car we bought was in TWICE to get small repairs done and still never got fixed properly totally AVOID these cowboys take your chance and go to a car auction you,ll probably get a better car without all the BS from this outfit

Absolute disgrace of a garage! These lot will pull out all the stops to get you to buy a piece of crap car with issues and sell you warranties that are worth nothing. They also don’t give you any paperwork or history for your car and they obviously don’t do their “checks” prior to handing over. Apparently it’s my issue that THEY didn’t give me MY locking wheel nut! Also couldn’t get an obvious fault fixed (which according to forums is very common) as they “couldn’t find the problem”, even though I told them what it was prior!! LOL! made we wait weeks as I needed a courtesy car for work, then phoned the night before with a “you can’t have it”! I then waited 3hrs after having diagnosed the faults and been forced to take time off work to be told they can sort my locking wheel nut issue for a price! You can imagine my response, especially after sitting in servicing for hrs and listening to an inordinate amount of very unhappy customers! DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANYTHING! On your head be it!

My mum reserved a car here, spoke to a manager who assured her everything would be ready to take the car away the day we went over. Got there and no one had any idea what we had arranged, the car was a mess and hadn't even been checked in the workshop. We were told it would be ready in a couple of days and had many apologies, to then be phoned 2 days later and told the car isn't road worthy so they cant sell it! Why would you advertise a vehicle that hasn't been anywhere near the garage to be chcked over! Complete joke, we've had 2 cars from here previously but they have now lost our business

Avoid this place like the plague. Scammed me by selling a faulty unroadworthy vehicle and refusing to fix it. It's been back in their garage 4 times over 2 months and my brakes still aren't working properly. They refuse to refund me and are unable or unwilling to fix my brakes. I had to take it to third party mechanic for evidence! Stay clear for your own good!!

on the Friday bought a Nissan Note, £8,600 with add ons £9292, 7 months MOT. During the journey drive home the warning light came on. Called PV who told me they would pick the car up on the Monday night, which they did. Phoned them Wednesday and was told the faulty engine would cost £1200 to repair which they wouldn't fix as it was not cost effective. They advised they had another Nissan Note I could have if I provided £1000 extra. I agreed in principle and they would send me photos in 4 hours. If I agreed to buy the car they would require £100 deposit to secure it, When I reminded the salesman that they still had over £9000 of my money. Four hours later I got another call telling me that there was a fault with that engine and asked whether I was prepared to pay for that repair. Told them I would be visiting on Friday to collect my cash back. I was down £30 for road tax, £30 petrol and £40 admin charges for changing my insurance. I would not buy a key ring off this mob never mind a car!

Still finding out about car but very pleased with the final appearance. David Smith made the experience of replacing my old car comfortable and relaxed. Thank you David. There was a good, friendly atmosphere in saleroom during original visit......not so much for pick up! Kieran Smith made the handover painless. Thank you Kieran. I look forward to a positive experience if I ever need to use warranty.
