Riverside Car Sales claim they left the locking wheel nut under passenger seat and when we came to need it just after 12 months from purchase, they claim it was left there ! (Most companies leave locking wheel nuts in glove box or boot with the spare) They agreed to check the PDI sheet (pre-delivery inspection sheet) but this would take a day or two as they were busy. Once they checked this they confirmed it was written on the PDI sheet which I accept but said I could not find my copy of this. I asked the salesman (Charlie) if this was a copy of the one completed when they serviced and checked my car when I purchased it to which he said YES which I accepted at the time, although they would not confirm this in writing and told me they can no longer help me and will not be replying to any more emails. I searched everywhere for this PDI sheet and to my amazement I have now found the PDI they issued to me when I collected the car. This document is printed however, the one they issued to me when I asked where the locking wheel nut was is hand written with no mileage on although he claimed this was the one completed when I purchased the car as it was a photo copy of the original one issued !!!!!!.
Charlie Reid from Riverside Car Sales in response to Dont trust them
Hi there, You were given a pre-delivery inspection sheet at handover detailing the location of the Locking Wheel Nut for your vehicle. You then phoned me almost 18 months later and demanded I paid for a new locking wheel nut set because it was never in the car. The handwritten paper you received from me a couple of months ago was in fact the original mechanic's pdi sheet (which we type up and give to you on handover because it looks more professional). To get this I dug out literally thousands of invoices and'd it matched exactly what was said on your copy of the sheet. After calling me a liar numerous times and getting aggressive on the telephone (once it came to light that I hadn't lied and you did, in fact recieve a full typed pdi sheet), I felt that our conversation had reached it's end. While we will always go out of our way to help our customers, we do not and could not be expected to receive a torrent of abuse, especially when the mistake is actually your own.
From the moment you step onto the forecourt you will be in for a surprise,as nobody rushes out the door trying to get you to buy a vehicle. We originally spoke to Clive and went to look at a Kia Sportage but ended up looking at a couple of other cars, there was no pressure, we didn’t feel rushed by Clive who made us feel welcome and introduced us to Max (lovely old Staffy). We ended up purchasing a Hyundai and although there were a couple of very small minor issues, these were dealt with within a week of me taking ownership of the car. All round great service and would not hesitate to recommend to family and friends.

Thank you so much for leaving a 5* review, it means a lot to all the team at Riverside. I will personally pass this feedback on to Clive and make sure Max gets a biscuit! Kind regards,
Amazing service as always from Riverside Car Sales!!
I reserved a car on the Thursday afternoon and was told my money would be refunded and taken off the purchase price. I did this so that my 110 mile journey wouldn't be wasted and having done the same with other car companies over the last 2 months, where my refund was returned if i ended up not buying the car, i assumed Riverside Car Sales Ltd would be the same when i called them 20 hours later to cancel the reservation and ask for a refund. Even on reading the Ts & Cs I found it unclear, and thought i would be refunded. When i wrote to them i got told to whistle essentially, and that i should've read the Ts & Cs better. In fact they told me it was ridiculous to not have read them properly, which of course they are absolutely right about. When i asked this question about them not stating they won't refund it if i don't buy the car, Riverside simply said "you didn't ask, so i didn't say." Anyway, of course one should thoroughly read the Ts & Cs and one should also read the reviews for this car dealership, i just should've read them earlier. Oh well two mistakes in one!

Charlie Reid from Riverside Car Sales in response to Unhelpful service, wouldn't refund £200
We understand that nobody ever want's to lose money which is why whenever there is a reservation fee, everyone gets the standard email below. I have checked and this was sent to you prior to leaving a reservation fee. I have also noted from correspondence that you never came to view the vehicle at any point. Message to all customers prior to all reservation fees being taken: "You authorise Riverside Car Sales to take a £500 reservation fee from your bank account. This withdraws the vehicle from sale for up to 14 days while you either: sign finance documents or arrange to visit the site and leave a deposit. You understand that this reservation fee is non-refundable should you change your mind about purchasing the car, but that if you elect to go ahead, Riverside Car Sales will reduce the price of your vehicle by £500 Vehicle: Ferrari Enzo Registration Number: TE57 CAR Date: 01/01/01 Please respond to this email to accept the terms and conditions as stated above."
i have bought 2 cars from here in the past happy with both. now looking for anotger for my partner. Already test drove the car with no presure to buy and always so helpfull. This is the owner that is always helpfull.. will go back Thursday to buy if still there..
Great service, great value. Highly recommend
Turned to up to look at a car that was for sale at Riverside Car Sales over in Burton on Trent but wasn't allowed to test drive it until I'd decided I wanted to buy it....very strange way of doing things. I was ready to buy with cash but how are you supposed to know if you want to buy a car without test driving?? Obviously I didn't and wouldn't ever go back.
Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Terrible
Hi Trish, Every dealership will do what is called 'qualifying' which is where they make sure that a customer is in a position to buy the car. It feels as though in this case it has been far too forceful and has upset you. We have, since your review, let go of some members of the team who didn't fit our ethos and have taken new ones on board. When it is time for you to change cars I would be happy to pop the kettle on and welcome you to Riverside Car Sales so that you might find your next car without any pressure. Kind regards,
MIS sold me my car. Just wanting money rather than giving a good service, car crammed in so tight you can't move anything or look, took a deposit over the phone but since going and inspecting the vehicle it wasn't for me and then told me me deposit is non refundable. Waste of time and robbed me also. Do not recommend Riverside Car Sales in Burton, please stay away if you dont want to lose money.

I am sorry that you feel that we 'took your money'. We operate a very transparent reservation fee and deposit scheme. If you put your complaint in writing to the Managing Director, I will make sure he reviews this. All deposits are non-refundable but the MD, at his discretion, may refund deposits in exceptional circumstances.
Called up to book a test drive. When I got to Riverside Car Sales the car was buried at the back of lot. Had to agree a part ex deal on my car before they let me drive. Came back the following day, test drove the car and when I said I had to go away and think about it the dealer had a right go at me for not buying the car on the spot and accused me of wasting his time! Don't know how as I was the only customer there both days I visited them? Never going there again.

We agree all deals before test driving, so that we are on a level playing field. There is no sense you test driving a vehicle if you aren't happy with a part exchange price. As for the attitude of the salesman, I can only apologise as that is entirely unprofessional.
I bought my vehicle for cash in Sept 2013 but was not offered any discount for no part-exchange. The car had a 'wet-dog' smell which they promised would be rectified before I collected it also they were going to correct a few dents in the bodywork but it was apparent on collection that the smell and the dents were still there. They had the vehicle back to valet it but one year on and the car still smells the same. I've been told from somewhere else the carpets are mouldy underneath. I emailed them with the problem but had no further response from them. I feel like they had my money now they don't want to know!
Charlie from Riverside Car Sales in response to Unimpressed
If, upon arriving to collect my new vehicle, I noticed that things that had been agreed to had not been done, I certainly wouldn't pay the balance and drive it away.
