I have been buying new cars from Barlow's for over 7 years. Always had positive interactions with sales staff, never felt pushed into a car I didn't want, generally found them to be very helpful over the years. I have had 4 cars from them, 3 different models and specs, had minor issues with some, as you'd expect with any car. Up until recently, the service department have been great with dealing with issues. Since having my last car, 70 plate Leon, I've had nothing but problems with the multimedia system, safety features and general day to day things with the car! when I've called the service department, I'm met with what I can only describe as a 'bad attitude'. Lack of helpfulness, and general disregard for what I'm asking. Once, I put down to maybe having a bad day, pressure etc but it was every time I tried to get an issue resolved! One example, I questioned why I was having to change the batteries in my key fob so often, when I hadn't had this problem with any of my other cars. I had recently put a new battery in. The reply I got was, "Well, I don't make the batteries, its not down to me how long they last is it?!" Disgusting customer service!!! After less than 18 months of having my Leon and lack of help I'd had enough! I wanted rid, and I wanted rid of Barlow's. Then I crossed paths with Nic. He works for the Cupra side of the dealership, very friendly, approachable, no nonsense, no pressure. Felt very comfortable with him, he listened to me moan, he listened to what I wanted, what my budget was and found me a car in no time. In less than a week we had a new car and I couldn't be happier with his service. I may only be one person, one sale, but it makes a difference. While we were waiting for handover of our new car, he was handling another unhappy customer who by all accounts looked happier with his service when he walked away. Nic is fab! Barlows unfortunately need to up their game or the new dealership in Lye maybe having my custom from now on!!!!
Very disappointing first visit, my experience of Cupra customer service was very poor. My 2 months old Cupra Formentor Collision Assist works intermittently when outside temperature is cold, a system glitch where the car electric system wouldn’t turn off, and the electric range is significantly lower than when the vehicle was delivered Booked to Barlow motors. Nobody made any effort to ring me to say car was ready After I rang up, no one knew what was going on with the car at collections After 2 days I had to ring up speak to service manager (Tom)who is the only qualified EV technician so this was what I get back from Tom: Active safety sensor - “won’t work when it’s cold so you just have to wait until things warm up” Electric range - “range is not really 34 miles that’s just advertising plus it’s a hybrid car so it’s not design to use electric only” (never mind what Cupra advertise as plug in hybrid lol) if you use the heating range becomes limited (even though battery is 100% and it still shows 25 miles range available instead of the 34 advertised System glitch - “so there is a software update that can fix this but guess what, we haven’t got it so just live with it” My perception of Cupra after visiting Barlow motors Wolverhampton changed from a potential new luxury car to budget car maker whom staff don’t care about quality or customer care
Absolutely fabulous service from Michael at Barlow Motors great customer service patient and informative would definitely deal with again 5* Service Thank you
Purchased 21 plate Karoq. Noticed a chip in the windscreen. The sales manager advised it has come in like that off the transporter and had been repaired. However when spending so much money on a new car, the customer wants it in perfect condition, so we agreed to the offer made by the sales manager which was that Crewe Skoda would cover the insurance excess for a new screen. To which I drove away happy. When chasing this up, I was told by the general manager that the sales manager has now departed company (been sacked) and they won't honour what was agreed. Had I know this at the time, I wouldn't have driven the car off the forecourt. Been a Skoda Customer for 25 years now with the last 4 cars being from this dealership but we won't be using again or recommending. Would rather go further to a better, more trustworthy dealership. They will lose out far more in the long run
As a Motability customer I booked a test drive for 10.00am . Arrived at showroom and informed by the salesman he had been double booked and was dealing with a handover ! Said he would be 2 minutes, after half an hour he informed us that he would still be 2 minutes. Bearing also in mind that not once had he put on a face mask while dealing with customers ! My wife complained to another of the salesmen when he approached us to see if we were being dealt with. He then proceeded to go out in the car he had just handed over with the customer still without a mask. At that point I went to inform the salesperson that I would not be staying for the test drive as it was putting myself and my wife at risk. The fact that she had already had Covid earlier in the year I was certainly not going to let her or myself be put at risk. I really find it amazing to see the lack of cleanliness that we had witnessed from that individual and also that none of his colleagues had said anything to him as they themselves were fully masked.
Bought my Seat Ibiza from the Stoke Branch and have nothing but good things to say about the sale, the help we got both with advice and the preparation of the car prior to pick up. I would like to thank Tony Mckittrick for a seamless transaction in which he was involved throughout. The dealership and Tony would definitely be our first port of call if we decide to change again. Thank you, Antony & Debbie.
Had a number of issues at this SEAT I would definitely recommend not using them, simply go to another SEAT, I can't explain the amount of issues I have had it's just easier to go to another SEAT all together avoid like the plague! I even made a complaint and nothing was done about that as there complaints process are dealt with internal to the branch and you can't escalate the matter because no one really cares. Be wise and go more towards Birmingham I've found them to be alot more helpful. Never got given a log book with the vehicle, couldn't tax my car because I never got given the log book and purchased the car with nail clippings In the side compartments that's summarised, I could go into alot more detail but really don't want to waste my Time, just trying to help others, wouldn't be surprised if this review got removed either...
I am a Motability customer and have had probably the worst service I have ever received from a car dealership in nearly 40 years of driving! I signed up for a Seat Ateca on the 27th of October 2020 and paid a £500 deposit to allegedly secure the vehicle. On the 8th of February 2021, just 7 weeks before I was due to pick the car up, I was told that the factory had refused the order as they were no longer making the engine I had requested. Trying to get my £500 deposit back has been nothing short of farcical. I was told by sales advisor (Dean) that I had to get it back from motability. When I told him that was wrong, he then changed direction and said that I needed to go through their finance department. I again said that was wrong, and unbelievably, he said that he couldn't find any record of my payment and that it was up to me to provide proof that I had made the payment! I have spoken today to a Senior Sales Advisor called Tony who sorted my refund out. Apart from Tony, an absolute shambles of a dealership.
Purchased a 68 plate Seat Leon car over lockdown and was unable to see the car prior to purchase. I did ask for videos, but didn't get one - I'd already seen videos of another so knew what the car looked like, so didn't think to much of it. Was told that if I didn't like the car for whatever reason, they have a 30 day NO QUIBLE returns - brilliant. Equally told the car was immaculate and had no issues. The sale was quick - barely had time to decide whether I wanted it on 3 or 4 year finance. The car arrived the next day. Working from home, I had a very brief look at the car and signed the relevant paperwork and back to work I go. Unfortunately with COVID symptons shortly after I couldn't drive the car until results back. After the first drive I realised there was a large chip on the bonnet and emailed them to see what they can do. No reply, called them, passed onto the car dealership it originated from (different dealership selling the car due to furloughed staff), passed back onto the salesman who then said he'll sort it. Nothing came about until further phone calls who then came to the conclusion that they would send a paint pen - like this is going to do anything. Shame about the lack of service or support post-purchase. Lovely car and would be very happy without the large chip. Recommend the car, wouldn't recommend the dealerships - Wolverhampton Seat and Crew Skoda.
Brought a Seat Arona in 2018. Brilliant car which i have been very pleased with. However the service receptionist gave me false information about the service plan i paid for and trying to get anyone from this dealership to sort it out has been a massive headache. Zero customer service. No replies to emails. No telephone calls when they say they will call you back. Afraid it's a case of once they have your money they do not give a dame. If you want to be let down, made to feel like mug give these guys a go they are very good at it.
nick shinton in response to Staff unhelpful and lie.
UPDATE Spoke to David Barlow Director of Barlow Motors who tried to escalate my complaint with VW financial services but in his words " hit a brick wall ". He also questioned this review saying that it was not accurate and unfair on Barlow Motors. Well David Barlow shame on you. You were quick enough to take my £20,000 but not prepared to fork out £100 to put things right. Just goes to show what kind of company you are running and how much you value your customers.
