I recently bought a car from Paul at Smiths of Swalwell and I can highly recommend, a wonderful experience from the first point of contact. I was finding it difficult to get to places quickly before cars were selling, as I did not currently have a car. Having realised my situation and that I was local Paul immediately offered to drive the car to my house for me to look at. Paul gave me a full overview of the car; he highlighted two pieces of work that needed doing prior to it being ready for collection and reassured me that these would be done. I asked about the previous MOT, and he explained what the advisories were and confirmed this work would also be done at the MOT. I asked for advice on the tyres and Paul advised that two would need replacing and pointed out where the wear was. They did pass the MOT, but Paul still had them replaced as agreed when I viewed the car. His cars are of a high standard, with decent mileage. They are well valeted, reviewed and any work carried out as agreed. Paul was knowledgeable and answered all my questions, offering additional advice as with the tyres that I would not have been aware of. He helped deal with the road tax payment at collection and talked me through the completed work. Everything that he had agreed to do was done and to a high standard. I would highly recommend purchasing a car from Paul at Smiths of Swalwell. Paul clearly takes pride what he does and wants to make sure the car is good to drive away. He was honest, fair and friendly throughout the process.

Never thought I would be writing this. Lovely bloke and couldn’t be more friendly and helpful at first but acts as if you are being awkward when the car isn’t up to what he’s advertised it as! Numerous issues since buying which I will say Paul did get my car looked at (but not in a timely fashion and not without stress or repeated contact to address the issues)but then asked for money towards repairs (which to be honest is disgusting and against consumer rights) Since sending him a letter advising of my consumer rights (please ensure you look at this before and after buying)I’ve not been able to contact Paul to advise him that the issue that he didn’t fix after I had pointed it out within the first month of buying has cost me a lot of money to repair. Also took me nearly 3 months to receive the log book which DVLA assured me on different occasions they had received no transfer of owner. It was only after repeatedly asking Paul to do this that I got the log book.I would avoid this man completely headvertises cars that aren’t what they seem. Be very careful in all honesty I would stay well clear!

I have been helping a young lady search for her first car for the last couple of months. In that time I have been astounded by the awful and in many cases dodgy vehicles on offer. I wish we had found this dealership at the start, it would have saved many hours and miles driven. The 2008 car we purchased was in great condition with only 2 owners. The service provided by Paul was nothing short of outstanding. If I need to look for a similar vehicle in the future, I won't be going anywhere else.

Really pleased with my car, a Renault megane, some little bits easily rectified by Paul, very easy doing business with him, when he promises you something he delivers. I'll see him when I'm looking for my next car. Would definitely recommend

i have bought 4 cars over the years from paul he is the most honest and helpful man ,he goes out of his way to make sure you are happy with everything,and the after care service is second to none wouldnt think of buying from anywhere else

If I could give Smiths of Swalwell 0 stars I would bought a car from this garage just over a year ago had problems with it from day 1 went back fobbed off rang numerous times promised call backs never rang me . It’s cost me a fortune to put right and has finally broke yesterday never had a car that’s been that much of a money pit. Terrible customer service ... very bad quality cars ... DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE unless you want to be out of pocket and car less ... absolutely disgusted that they can do this to people .

I paid £100 deposit back in February for a corsa but changed my mind due to brake problems mr Smith did not return my deposit and was quite smitten about it when I put a review about it he said he hadn’t returned my deposit because he had been on holiday. Well it’s now June and still no refund .my advise stay well clear of Smiths of Swalwell

Let me start by saying the owner appears friendly and lovely...arrived in depths winter on Sunday to open up show me a lovely Toyota aygo I had seen on auto tradar It's immaculate he says ....as car covered in frost it starts to defrost ....there on left had side on bumper was a scrape I mean scrape ....immaculate he had said errrrrr what's this says he said eeeee didn't know that there then opened the boot no carpet no plastic coverage I'll sort that which granted he did .... after two n from he promised to touch it up the scrape he did ....but just touch up he did As I loved the look car...colour etc I really liked it bought it ... The next day the back window wouldn't de mist I so me hubby went Halford bought new fuse put in didn't work I rang, she said bring down we sort it do I did baring in mind we now discover that boot leaking carpet my paper work soaking .... As request they took car in they had it couple hours I was told that it's manufacturer error report leak n it's not his responsibility really the window ..... ohe to top it all the boot spare tyre is bald n flat .... So please I urge u check everything before u buy your car from smith n smith font be fooled by nice bloke wanting to sell u a car....don't be fooled like me .....I never ever thought I'd be writing this review at all....
