It’s a bit daunting when you haven’t bought a classic car before but Kristian was great, every time I had a question, he answered it and kept me informed through the process. Kristian also went to great lengths to give clarity making sure you understand what you are getting with the age mileage and condition of the car. I’ve already put eight people towards Specialist cars York, the acid test for me is would I go back to them… and the answer is yes!

Specialist Cars always look after us and are flexible to our needs working, Kristian works his calendar to get us in as its usually last-minute dot com. I was originally looking at a Land Rover, but he convinced me to take the merc and now I don’t know what I would do without it! Kristian is friendly efficient and does exactly what it says on the tin, there’s no waffle with him, he’s tip top and I would by my next car from him if he had the right one in.

The BMW 5 Series has been all good so far! I was after a 530i for a couple of months and Specialist Cars York happened to have a E39 with low mileage available. Kristian was spot on with me, no complaints at all! I have already recommended them to others.

I was after something a bit more analogue and the Mercedes 190 has what I’d call a timeless design! If there's anything I would change about it would be swapping over the 1.8 manual for the 2.6 auto. However, I can't complaint as it flow along lovely!

My Mercedes was delivered at the end of January this year (2026) and has been totally reliable. It had been MOT’d just before Christmas but I didn’t want any potential additional costs at that time of year so it was re-tested a couple of weeks ago. It failed, but only due to a couple of rubber protective boots being perished which could happen on any car whether it be modern or older and with my car being 31 years old I think that’s pretty good going. Overall I am very pleased with my car and the service I received from Kristian at Specialist Cars York.

I’m really happy with the Mercedes overall and it’s been good to drive. I’ve had a few little problems with it, which i think is because it had not been started for a while. But it is all working well now. I bought the car over the telephone without seeing it in the flesh first, and when it arrived it was as described. There were a few issues like some sun damage because it came from Japan, but I already knew about that and I’m okay with it because I can sort those bits myself. The dealership were fine to deal with and I would recommend them. The only downside for me was the wait, as it took about three months, which felt a long time when waiting for the car although i know it can take a while to get registered when they are imported from Japan. Would still give it full marks as i am really chuffed with the car!
