Talked my son into buying an expensive car, RAC Warranty not worth the paper its written on. £2200 worth of faults to be rectified after a few months and Speedwell not interested. Steer well clear!!!!

The car I purchased from Speedwell was advertised by them on Pistonheads. As I live in Cornwall I was unable to view the car. Will gave a good description over the phone and sent additional photos. Within the advertised price it was agreed that that some paintwork and paint protection film be provided. I was given frequent updates on progress and phone calls were always returned. The car was delivered to Cornwall and the description is exactly as described. I have no hesitation in recommending this dealer which has provided good old fashioned service from beginning to end.

I spent some time looking for a Peugeot 2066cc for my wife, at the beginning of the year. Speedwell had one that was ideal, good condition for the year, the right mileage, etc. I contacted them ahead of my visit to ensure the Cam belt had been changed, given the age of the vehicle, and was advised it had been done. Subsequent to agreeing to purchase the vehicle and reviewing the document history, it transpired there was no documentation to support this, so I insisted it was done. This resulted in a negotiation where I picked up half of the cost of the Cam belt. I wasn't that happy about this, given the precondition on viewing the car was that it had already been done, but I agreed in the end as the car was what I had been looking for. Not great, but fair enough. There was also a damaged offside door mirror, held on with cable ties. As part of the agreed sale, this was to be replaced. Since buying the car in February, I've chased the garage on several occasions regarding this with little success. At no time have they sought to contact me to advise on progress - or indeed to arrange to honour the agreement. I am now at the point where I have essentially given up. I don't anticipate this will ever be honoured and as such I intend to have it repaired locally. I will send the invoice to Speedwell, but certainly wont expect to have the cost refunded! So - in summary - be very careful regarding what work has or hasn't been done on the car prior to agreeing to purchase. If any work IS required, ensure it is done before collecting the car or parting with your money, as from my experience, the after sales is poor to non-existent in this regard. It's a shame as all my initial dealings with the garage, including the sale and collection, have been pleasant and overall I'm very happy with the car - it is just what I was looking for. However(!), these issues ultimately leave a bad taste in the mouth and it would deter me from going back, or advising anyone else to do so.

Negotiated a fair price that included a full tank of fuel - when I bought it, it was only part full and then they refused to honour the agreement. Found a problem on the paintwork; they promised to make good but it never happened. Partially down to joint timing issues, but they didn't make it eay. After 6 weeks the Audi developed a DPF issue. I tried to get it fixed under the RAC warranty they provided with the car. The DPF was cleaned and the problem went away for a month ot so then returned. When I went back to the RAC they refused, saying it was a consumable. I then approached Speedwell as the failure appeared so shortly after my purchase and it is covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 under 'satisfactory quality'. They have refused to cover this fault or even compromise. I am now in the process of getting it fixed independently and will then be pursuing the matter through court. Whilst I am certain to win my case and collect my monies paid out for the repair (and any solicitors costs) the warning remains to anyone who buys from Speedwell - if anything goes wrong, DO NOT expect a great customer service experience.

I was helping a good friend of mine purchasing a second hand car. I would definitely not recommend this company to anyone who is looking to do the same. There were problems within the very first week after having purchased the car with the power steering, and getting a response back once you have already paid turned out to be very difficult. If they accept your calls, expect them to take 3-4 days to get back to you, and when they do it is only to tell you that unfortunately they cannot help what so ever. Eventually we decided to use the 30 day refund policy, which was only accepted after plenty of trips to the citizens advice bureau. Once finally agreeing to the entitled refund, it took a further 2+ weeks to have the money returned, so overall I would say the experience with this dealership was terrible, customer service was below any expectations of a car dealership and attempting to avoid a 30 day refund legal policy was unacceptable. If you are looking to get a new car, I advise you to stay clear of this dealership.

Speedwell Automotive were very fair with me, when I asked for a few bits to be done to the car before the sale they agreed despite not being obligated to at all. They allowed me to test drive the car twice as it was raining the first time around and car was ready for collection 2 days earlier than estimated. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I was very happy with the level of service I received from Speedwell Automotive, they fixed a water pump issue with under the RAC warranty they provided me and they gave me a courtesy car in the meantime, I was in good hands and I would recommend them.

Everything was pretty much straightforward, they delivered the car to my home, there was a couple of scratches on the car so they knocked some money off the car which I thought was a fair compromise, the has been faultless since. I was surprised at how problem free it all was I feel very lucky.
