I bought a VW Polo from The Automatic People Car Company and within a very short time discovered a long list of problems with the car. These included issues with the coolant/water pump, rear seat belt, passenger occupancy sensor/airbag system, window switch and other faults. I have now spent around £1,000 getting the car put right. More recently, when I took the car to have the tyres changed, I was told that the car had three different tyre sizes fitted to it. That was another discovery which seriously concerned me about how the vehicle had been prepared and checked before being sold. What made the whole experience particularly frustrating was the dealer’s behaviour after the sale. When I initially contacted them about the problems, some of the responses I received gave me the distinct impression that they were already familiar with at least some of the faults. I cannot prove exactly what they knew before selling the car, but when you combine that with the number of problems that appeared so soon after purchase, and then discovering three different tyre sizes on the vehicle, it became increasingly difficult for me to believe that everything was simply unknown at the point of sale. They initially agreed that I could have the car repaired locally and said they would send the required parts to the garage. As I live a considerable distance from Bradford, this seemed like a reasonable solution. They then stopped answering my calls. The promised support never materialised and I was ultimately left to organise and pay for the repairs myself. When I did manage to speak to them, I also found the attitude rude and dismissive, which was particularly disappointing given how quickly these issues had appeared. I completely accept that used cars can develop faults. My complaint is not simply that something went wrong. It is the number and nature of the problems, the concerns I was left with about what may already have been known, promises of assistance that were not followed through, and then the lack of communication when I needed them to honour what they had said. Having subsequently gone back and read other customers’ reviews properly, I genuinely regret not taking those warnings more seriously. Based on my experience, I would not buy another car from this dealer. If you’re considering buying from them, my advice would be to keep looking elsewhere — it simply isn’t worth it.

I've been buying cars from them for family members and friends for some time now, and today I purchased a lovely Diesel with full history and it was in Superb Condition inside and out. I purchased an 09 plate car from this company a year and a half ago. It was by far the cheapest 09 around at the time and the only one I could afford. I still have the car today and it runs without fault. Used cars are a bit of a lottery and you never know what's around the corner with them. Anyway, we did very well and are extremely happy with our purchase. Ps Nice bloke to deal with !!
