Thurlow Nunn Milton Keynes, booked car in for a major service and MOT. I was phoned and told my car had failed the MOT for a binding rear brake, and that the rear brake pads also needed replacing and was quoted £169.00 to change the rear brake pads, on checking their website it has fixed servicing prices and to replace the brake pads it said was £139.00 all inclusive, so they tried to rip me off for an extra £30.00. On collecting my car I found that the major service consisted of changing the engine oil, oil filter and pollen filter for the excessive price of £250.00, MOT was an additional £39.00, and they said they would match the £139.00 advertised on their own website (they would match their own advertised price) rather than charge me the £169.00 quoted. When I got into my car I found the handbrake came right up and touched the centre console armrest, and was told when I queried this too that their was an issue with the handbrake they hadn’t adjusted after fitting the new brake pads, and the service manager told me that the rear brakes were still binding. I asked how that can be as my car failed the MOT for binding brakes and after the new brake pads were fitted my car passed the MOT??? I queried the cost of the service for what they had done to my car, and the service manager at the Milton Keynes branch pointed to the main entrance and said to me “do you know how much that sign around the front door costs, that’s one of the reasons our prices are as they are” I replied I didn’t wish to invest my money in their door sign or any other advertising they may have to have, as Thurlow Nunn decided to enter into the franchise, I just want my car serviced at a fair and honest price and I didn’t wish to buy shares in the company through their extortionate hourly servicing rate. The service manager at the Milton Keynes branch was just so unprofessional, lacked customer care, and had no real interest in the issues I had raised. I have been a loyal customer to Thurlow Nunn for many years, having purchased many cars from them and recommended other members of my family to also purchase their cars from them too. Well I am done with them now, no more cars will I or my family buy from them, no more servicing, and I will not recommend Thurlow Nunn to anyone, they are just not honest, their used car prices are higher than other car sellers and have more miles on the clock than an aeroplane.

I put my car into Thurlow Nunn Milton Keynes for a service and MOT on 05/02/2021. I booked a 40,000 mile service online only to be contacted and told I needed a major service which costs £250.14p for this you get an oil and filter change and a pollen filter change plus a sachet of screen wash. When I queried the service cost for what my vehicle had received the service manager pointed to the main entrance and said “you see that signage around the front door, do you know how much that costs” . I said “ I haven’t put my car in the by an entrance sign, not my issue how much it costs” . The service manager said “ignore hat the car service book says it means nothing” so why do people insist on seeing the service book when selling the vehicle as a record of what has been done to the car and how well maintained it is. Whilst my car was in for a service and MOT I asked if a squeak on a back wheel would be checked on the MOT only to be told investigating it would cost an additional £98.00 Then I get a call to say the back brake pads have only 2mm left on them and need replacing at the cost of £169.00, I checked the Thurlow Nunn website only to find the all inclusive price to replace rear brake pads is £139.00 so they were prepared to overcharge me by £30.00; when I queried this cost with the service manager he said he didn’t know they do fixed price repairs (I put this down to a lack of dealership knowledge, or an excuse to try and extort even more money out of customers). Again, when I asked where the upfront information is on what is carried out on a major service there was some faffing over this question by the staff and I was told well that’s the price we charge and that’s final. My car failed the MOT on rear binding brakes, rear brake pads replaced and I was advised by the service manager that the rear brakes were still binding after the brake pads were replaced, but it passed the MOT test?????? Shocking, then the handbrake pulls on right over the top to the centre arm rest, way to high, a service technician says it’s because the back brakes are binding and there’s a fault, however the handbrake didn’t do this prior to them carrying out work on the brakes??? I honestly thought highway robbery had been outlawed but someone has forgotten to tell Thurlow Nunn of this fact. I have been a loyal customer to Thurlow Nunn for many years without any real problems until now. I will now be looking for an alternative Vauxhall dealership to take my business to, and I will be advising all my family, friends and colleagues to boycott Thurlow Nunn forever. Thurlow Nunn should know there are three kind of Robin.... Robin Hood, Robin Red Breast and Robin Gits. Thurlow Nunn don’t wear green and use a bow and arrow, they are not small covered in feathers with a red breast and fly, therefore they are the last one.
