I sold our family mini to Paul at WonderValue a couple of years ago He Quoted a price for the car and when I dropped it off He paid no arguing the price . I picked his brain on the car I was buying from another garage & Paul answered all my questions very helpful Now when I need to know anything about a car I just text Paul & he gets back to me quickly .. My neighbour was selling his Jaguar 4x4 Paul said he would buy it but get a better price on AutoTrader. .Wondervalue are very straightforward seem to know repairs & prices.
I bought a Peugeot 207 from this dealer (Paul) and that was the worst experience I've ever had. When I called, he told me he would only be available during night hours, around 8ish - one would wonder why! I went there at night as per his availability with confidence after seeing a clean MOT history and his catchy specs in the advert. He never mentioned any of the cars defects till I wired him the money. As soon as he confirmed the transfer, he started adding a bunch of faults to the invoice. That moment I felt something wasn’t right and I asked him what are all these you’re now writing. He said he had told me about it but that wasn’t true. Under his pressure and late hours, I was made to sign for all the things he had stated (4 signatures on 1 invoice). Long story short, I took the car for diagnosis and was NOT surprised to learn the car had multiple serious defects, including a blown head cover gasket, a knackered clutch and worn-out brakes. I talked to him, but he was just as unhelpful as I had expected. I had to pay over £900 to get the car fixed. His tone suddenly changed as soon as I transferred the money and signed for the deal. I should have followed my instincts. I’d NEVER recommend this dealer, not even to my worst enemy!

Got good Service and advice from Wondervalue. Helpful , polite would use again .
What to say other than avoid this trader. Comes across as if he is doing you a favour. The advert increased by £105 while I was on there. This should have been the red flag I needed. No premises. Parked on the road next to an MOT garage. Kept saying that he has to tell me of any major issues. Well following a visit to my local trusted garage there was a major issue. The clutch was knackered!! Needed replacing. Now he keeps telling me I got a good deal so that should be okay. There was also an issue with the alternator and battery. These were not terrible, but both we only running 70% efficiency. All in all what I thought was a good purchase. Was not! I really wish I had not bought from this trader.

Joe in response to Avoid this trader
Sorry to hear of an issue post purchase . Disappointing to read your comments here particularly in light of the pre purchase inspection ,and test drive , along with the description of the vehicle you were given prior to deciding to buy. All potential Customers are able to inspect and try any potential purchase , including extensive test drive ,check all items including the clutch etc before deciding to buy .The vehicle was a 13 year old 1.2 petrol Renault Clio with 58k miles and part Service History . The advertised price had increased to reflect it was now offered with a New MOT and had been valeted . You drove the vehicle approximately 40 miles post purchase and mentioned no issue with the clutch . Upon informing me that your “Trusted garage” had advised the clutch needed replacing at a cost of £750 I informed you other garages charged between £290 -£350 including parts . I requested you return the vehicle for assessment and to assist you in any repairs - this you declined to do . Surprisingly you do not name your “Trusted Garage” who charged you £750 for a Renault clio 1.2 clutch . It is with regret you had an issue with your purchase , and that you didn`t return the vehicle and any issue resolved amicably and to your satisfaction . All customers are advised to arrange returning a vehicle if an issue arises and assistance will be given to hopefully rectify the issue to their satisfaction . Contact the aftersales number on your invoice if you require any further assistance .
Purchased a lovely Mini in Jan 24 for my boy who just past his test from Paul, who can be described as a rough diamond not a rouge from the Walworth Road. He says it how it is, or was in my case. Not a new car, have a drive and have a good look and make your own mind up. This I did and I was happy with the vehicle. It was just as shown in video on autotrader. He pointed out the mini may be losing some oil and o2 sensor needed. Buying a 14 year old car is risk, I did not feel Paul was the risk. I was relieved that I could pay direct from my account using my phone to his business account. Walworth Road in my opinion is not the sort of area you want to be walking about with + 2k cash in your pocket. Turns out no oil leak, faulty oil pressure sensor (£20) car drives like a dream and my boy is well happy. And his log book arrived so purchase was indeed genuine. Thanks Paul for advice to travel back in morning after storm, which I did. Car purred at 70mph all the way back to Scotland. I hope my candid review will assist other perspective buyers.

They say there is one born every minute and I feel just like that, I should of followed my gut feeling and walked away from the car once I heard the grinding noise but Paul assured me that it was a small fix and would cost £300 so would reduce what he wanted for the car. Also never buy a car in the night time was another tip I didn't listen to. Paul covered the paperwork where I was to sign conveniently with his thumb and as it was dark I didn't see what he had written on the paperwork until I got home and read that the car I had just brought from him had Numerous Faults with it , which I was never told when buying it. The MOT also had no advisories but once I took the car to a few different garages to be fixed found that the car needed a new shock absorber and also the front brakes would be needed to be fixed soon. The shock absorber should of failed the MOT and the brakes should of been on the MOT advisory and 3 garages I took the car to said he must have a friend who did the fresh MOT and not put them on there. The car cost £1000 to be fixed not the £300 and that was the cheapest garage that would do the job.
