Got my BMW 330D 63 plate from Wooldlands Motor Company in Gateshead back in the beginning April, great car but some faults appeared. There was a clicking on the steering, the rear view mirror fell off and there was a fault with the Auto dipped beam camera. Noticed 2 days after getting the car. Reported the problems and got the car put into a local garage to diagnose. Came back needing new steering column and new camera. Both items got put on order. Garage said the camera from BMW was over £800. Went back over a month later after ringing to see if the parts were in which they were. Steering column got sorted but new camera was broken as well (that’s what was said). Was told another one would be sourced, thought if it came from BMW there wouldn’t be an issue. Chased woodland motors in July and got told a story about he couldn’t return the camera due to being out side of the return period of 30 days. Tried to blame me for my car being in for a week with a crash repair. However, no one rang me to say the camera was in. I also rang just before the repair to see if it was in and got told it wasn’t. I only found out camera was in when I rang after my repair was done. Even I can work out that wasn’t 30 days. He then went through how there eBay account had got hacked due to the seller of the parts. So looks like the camera sourced wasn’t new but second hand off EBay. When I said I wasn’t happy he said they were still trying to source the part and would be in touch when it came in. It is over a week into August and still no joy. Also had 6 month warranty on the car which seems pointless. If I went to BMW they would have been able to get the part but looks like parts are not sourced from the OEM by woodland motors. Picked the car due to the options it had one being the auto dip function. Now have an ugly gap behind my windscreen were the camera should be and paid for a function I never got. This was my first high price car purchase and feel for the price I paid the service was below par.

graeme glendinning from Woodlands Motor Company in response to 63PLATE BMW 330D

Firstly, The customer has tried to remove this review with no success. As such I have the following response. There were no apparent faults when the car was taken on a test drive or when the car was purchased. The customer reported these issues within a couple of weeks from purchase. The slight knock noise was on full lock and very faint. I had this diagnosed and the part was ordered and fitted with no qualms by a BMW Specialist garage at my expense. The centre rear view mirror was, in my opinion, knocked off accidently. Attached to the mirror is the pcb for the Auto dipped beam camera. Because of the weight of the mirror and the short length of wire attached to it, the wire connected to the pcb was ripped off when the mirror was knocked off and could not be repaired. Hence the need for a new camera. (This matter is debatable as I don’t think a rear view mirror 'just falls off' for no reason). The price for the camera from the dealer was astronomical and I had a long wait time. I eventually found one on ebay and purchased it. The camera was given to a garage who carried out the repair and diagnostics. I understood that between the garage and the customer, the car would be booked in and the camera fitted. After around 5 weeks the garage called me to say that the customer had been back to the garage saying the camera was not working. This was of great concern to me as the camera was quite expensive. I contacted the seller and they said it was outside of the 30 day come back period. At this point I was told that the customer had had an accident in the car and the car had been in a garage getting repaired, hence the 5 weeks wait time . Since then the customer asked for the part number for the camera. The customer then found a camera on ebay and gave me the seller details. I purchased that camera and gave it to the same garage, again. The customer has since had another accident in the car and never returned to have his camera fitted. I find this all very perplexing. I now have 3 cameras, 2 broken and 1 that works.

The staff at Woodlands Motor Company were so laid back and easy to talk to, I'd recommend them without a shadow of a doubt. I had a minor fault with the car in the first week and they fixed it with no fuss and did an excellent job.
