0 stars!! An absolutely awful experience from start to finish. I would strongly advise anyone considering buying a car from Houghton Motors to think very carefully.I bought a Range Rover from them and the engine problems started within just 8 days of purchase. I contacted the dealership during the warranty period and made repeated attempts to get the issue addressed. What followed was months of stress, uncertainty and incredibly poor communication. The vehicle ultimately developed serious engine problems and I was advised not to drive it. I then had to go through the Ombudsman Service to resolve and have the vehicle rejected. The fact that it took the involvement of the Ombudsman to reach a resolution tells you everything you need to know about the experience.Even after the vehicle was collected and driven 159 miles with an engine fault - the problems continued. There were repeated failures to properly arrange collection and return of courtesy vehicles (both broke down on me) including vehicles being collected/returned in a completely disorganised way. I have had to deal with broken or unusable courtesy vehicles, missed collection arrangements and endless communication simply to try to get basic matters resolved. The Range Rover was also returned/handled with damage to the front bumper which was not present when it was originally collected from me.The vehicle has also left oil/fluid staining on my driveway, creating yet another problem and expense that I should never have had to deal with. What should have been a straightforward car purchase turned into months of hassle, stress, disruption and dealing with multiple parties just to try to get a problem vehicle properly resolved. My experience has been:❌ Serious engine problems within 8 days❌ Warranty issue not properly resolved❌ Months of stress and uncertainty❌ Poor communication❌ Repeated failed collection arrangements❌ Problems with courtesy vehicles❌ Damage arising while the vehicle was in their possession❌ Oil/fluid staining left on my driveway❌ Ultimately required the Ombudsman Service to resolve the disputeI have retained extensive documentation, photographs, call records and correspondence supporting my experience.I would NEVER use this dealership again and, based on my experience, I would strongly recommend that anyone considering purchasing a vehicle from them carries out extremely thorough independent checks and considers very carefully how they deal with problems if something goes wrong. The biggest disappointment isn’t just that the car developed a serious fault - cars can go wrong. It’s the way the situation was handled afterwards. For me, the customer service and after-sales support were completely unacceptable.

Very dodgy company selling dodgy cars. Sold me a car and it’s been nothing but trouble since day one. These clowns and the finance company are not interested. Sold the car with an outstanding safely recall and the steering rack snapped and we could have been killed. They just don’t car so taking legal action.

We bought a BMW 1 series from this supposed dealer, within days we had the car cutting out and have not been able to use this car. The finance company they use are not bothered either as they are affiliated so steer clear of this lot you will be sorry if you don't. Our car is still unusable and we are going to pursue this in the courts.
AVOID!!! Oh ISHRAQ DAR you small smelly weasel of a man. (Yes the owner) I bought a car off these guys, it had many issue’s within days of the purchase. Guess what? Even with warranty this small smelly man would not sort it out. Dodgy mot on it? Oh absolutely! Anyways, some time down the line I have a catastrophic failure with the veichle. It was taken to a specialist who has confirmed the car has had a nasty rear end accident! The car is going to need thousands spent to repair it. It had been rear ended at some point and bodged back together to look good. This car should never have passed the 12 month mot it had when I purchased it from the small smelly man ISHRAQ DAR from Houghton motors. Con artist!

Where do I start the problems with the vehicle and dealership are endless. Firstly the vehicle i purchased a Mitsubishi outlander reg WV13 VUW. I traveled over 4 hours to collect the car yes maybe I should have viewed the car before purchasing but i'm person that would rather put trust in someone how i learnt a big lesson. I took the car for a quick test drive and the first thing i noticed was the air conditioning was doing a whistling noise which good old google said the could be a cracked pipe which when i returned to the dealership (Ish) the owner jumped in straight away and said the air con must be low and filled it up yes great but shrugged off that there could be a possible fault. I then made the journey home and It took just 3 hours of driving for the problems to begin. There was a problem with the ACC and the engine management light came on then on the same journey i had DPF system problem. I contacted the owner Ish and we arranged for the car to go to a Mitsubishi specialist to check and resolve. After only looking at the car for 30 minutes the garage called me asking me to return as there was several problems with the car. Now bare in mind as i purchased the vehicle by viewing photos and conversations with the owner i was told the car is in great working condition I did query the MOT as on previous MOT's there were advisories of corrosion but on the new MOT that gets done at the dealership there were no advisories which Ish replied with saying this has all be repaired and resolved and there no problems. When i returned to Mitsubishi i was handed a health check with an unbelievable amount of problems listed. There were faults with the following: -throttle body and gaskets. Manifold cracked. -Turbo passing oil Excessively. -oil passing through turbo system leaking from o/s inter-cooler pipe. -Air con condenser leaking (Which was shrugged off at the beginning.) -Bearings, NSR corroded and the would need replacing. All in all some of the parts required to repair the car was mounting to over £6,000 alone. I was even told the corrosion on the rear bearing was so bad the ABS sensor wire wasn't even attached and should have been replaced and would have failed an MOT. So the fact this car passed an MOT a couple of days before on without any advisories is absolutely shocking and put myself and family at risk. I then contacted Ish as you can imagine was so annoyed and angry. But instead of trying to help me straight away i had to chase him was constantly ignoring me saying he would call me back and wouldn't and then best thing was i had Ish swearing down the phone to me and the best thing was when Ish said don't listen to Mitsubishi they are a main dealership and will over exaggerate the problems absolute joke. This dealership is absolutely shocking and shouldn't be operating as a business they are putting people at risk with Bad MOT's and clearly this isn't the first time i have seen previous reviews from other people and they have had the same problems. Eventually they agreed for the car to be returned and they paid the funds back for the vehicle. Please people do not buy from this dealership. I could keep going on with the experience I received but i think i have said enough for you to see the problems you will potentially face. And the best thing the car has been put back up for sale for the same price.

Catherine in response to PLEASE PLEASE AVOID!!!!!
Hi can I ask what was the reg to this car and was it a black outlander by any chance. I brought the same make and model car for the engine light to come on within 12 hours of buying it I brought the car on a monday they collected Wednesday thats was 3 weeks ago
SCAMMM!!! AVOID this place at all costs, they are scammers and nothing else, the owner is rude and arrogant, purchased a VW Golf from them using Zuto, First of all was very rude over the phone when I asked if I could collect the car about 2 days later I was driving it and the engine warning came on And the oil pressure light, clearly the car was not checked prior to being sold. Was very difficult to get him to fix the car. The car was burning oil which turned out to be the piston rings. How can you sell a car with an engine fault ???????? He gave us a Vauxhall Insignia as a courtesy car and again problem after problem when we called him to tell him the clutch pedal dropped and wouldn’t go into gear, he wouldn’t come to fix the car. We had to fix it ourselves. And he tried to blame us for burning the clutch, he was saying what do you want me to do about that, I have a dealership to run. And then put the phone down and started getting rude. He then started declining our calls. We have reported him to Zuto. He needs to know basic customer service and treat people with respect otherwise he won’t be doing this for long. SCAM and nothing else. I will be reporting this garage further. THIS IS NOT A DEALER. THIS IS A BACKSTREET SCRAPYARD!!!!
Totally avoid...purchased a car, took it back to be repaired a week later...then 2 months after..then 6 months after...not sure why they have employed there but they are not mechanics, they have BROKEN my car and left it unsafe to drive my daughter in and illegal as it can’t pass it’s mot until the ‘repairs’ are rectified...complained to the finance company and the dealership have point blank LIED there way out of it because the are COWARDS AND SNAKES!!! Absolutely disgusting!!!
