Where do I start i phoned this garage as I was interested in one off their cars I advised them that I lived quite far away and as I didn't want to waste either my time or theirs i told them id like to part exchange 2 cars with them so we came to an agreement on the lowest price they would offer if the cars were not as I explained so me and a friend left to start the journey to the garage we arrived and was greeted by a salesman for the company who then changed his mind on what was agreed on the phone but I really wanted the car I went to see and didnt want to drive the long distance back so i excepted what they offered on my part exchanged cars and done the deal they gave me an old green slip for the car so couldn't be taxed for over 6 weeks the car came with 3 months warranty as soon as that ran out the piston rings failed and engine went bang I paid strong money for the car then had to pretty much spend the same again on a new engine for the car seriously do not trust or buy a car from this company stay away ......

We purchased a car from these cowboys 2 years ago. was a Mini cooper, head gasket has gone and white smoke bellowing out on drive home. Rejected it back the same day. Took 7 weeks for finance company to get anything out of these guys to unwind the agreement. Was a lucky escape for us. Glad to see someone managed to get these cowboys in court although it seems it didn't do much as they're now trading as Alison's Automotive Group.

I bought a 2015 GTD from them last year, and have had nothing but issues from the get-go. It took WEEKS to get the MOT done on the car, as it had ran out while in their possession. I had to take a flight from Glasgow to pick the car up, and that’s where the issues started. The MOT still wasn’t done by the agreed pick-up date so I had to cancel and reorganise another flight which I lost money on. Matt done me a ‘goodwill gesture’ and provided me with a 3-month warranty scheme that wasn’t worth the paper it was written on; after counselling with the ombudsman I was told that all dealer-private sales come with a statutory warranty period which often is 3-months - I was mislead into believing this was some great thing he was doing for me when it was supposed to be given to me anyway. On the day of collecting the car, it had ‘developed faults while testing’ and, I shit you not, waited 6 hours from my arrival till way after closing time because of one issue or another. The inspection of the car had to be done in pitch back darkness, and it was only the following day when I took the car back to Glasgow I seen all the issues - seats ripped, cigarette burns in the upholstery, lacquer peeling back on the centre trims, alloys scuffed to fuck, ALL tyres mismatched with one of them under the legal limit for tread, the front grill was smashed up in bits, rust on the doors and sills, absolutely reeked a smoke inside. I sent emails and messages about this and yet not had a reply. They were willing to let the car go without a proper health check - the timing belt and water pump were inspected at 40k odd but never replaced or serviced - and VWs require the two to be changed between 80-100k. I paid fees I had no idea even existed, and we’re talking in the hundreds of pounds, and this was after my finance all went through and got sorted. I got home, and the car had no coolant in it. Something wasn’t right, so straight into a local garage it went and spent close to 3 months in diagnostics. Still dealing with the coolant loss. So far the EGR cooler, Intercooler, heater matrix, and water pump have been changed. Matt tried his hardest to pretend it wasn’t his problem regarding the coolant loss - although this was reported within 12 hours of me purchasing the car. Steve, the salesman was a nice lad, but unfortunately his ethics were driven the company’s greed. Matt’s just a fucking dickhead. The way he spoke to Steve, and myself as well would have warranted his face being smashed in. Avoid, nothing but con men. If I was wiser at the earlier stages I would have taken them to court.
Absolutely diabolical! Avoid these con men like the plague! Currently in the process of taking them to court - hearing date on the 1st October! They are con men, selling faulty cars ! Read all reviews before buying, all the same issues, bad communication, fault lights and management lights not working, refuse to take responsibility and push on time to resolve issues so they can try to push it passed a timescale for CRA! They falsify MOT documents and try to demoralise people. They don’t respond for weeks and weeks to push on time! Their ADR service are biased towards the company and try to be little you , I reported my car as faulty 1 month after purchase! I agreed to a repair which was not done correctly and the faults not rectified as promised to which I have proof of! I have given them numberous chances to sort it but I’m taking this company all the way and I won’t give up, with pages and pages of evidence against them to prove my case! They use a car garage called VW car repairs to repair faults annd I feel so sorry for the manager there who has to deal with endless calls from people, he was the only decent person I dealt with, he confirmed to me that my car was a massive mechanical failure and after weeks of back and forth to them ASW refused to claim liability and told them not to fix my vehicle or even do the diagnostics to see what faults were present, their response to the court claim was even a lie stating I refused to return the car for testing, I drove 150 miles round trip and left my car there for them to ring me and say that ASW would not claim liability! All this in writing! So they are even lying on court claims!!!!!! Avoid!!!!!!! I have waited until now to write this review in the hope they would come to their senses but they haven’t !!! All the evidence I have will be posted on social media and every other platform to ensure people don’t get treated and abused like I have! Nearly a year of this and they couldn’t care less! £10k for a car that only worked for 3 weeks! Is disgraceful, and I have 3 children and no reliable vehicle! Drive for 1 mile car goes into limp mode and engine light comes on; been this way for nearly a year even though it was apparently fixed by them and all faults rectified, which was a lie!!!!!!! They are con artists!!! Anonymous

Avoid Autotrade Southwest!!! We purchased a 2011 BMW X5 back in April with clear age related marks which I wasn’t concerned with/about. I noticed that there was a door handle which was covered in sticky black residue but again didn’t think twice about it as I thought it would wash out (I was wrong!!) the handle was cracked and they filled it with some silicone type material. Which we had to replace! Happy enough with the car we paid the rest of the deposit which was £1000 and LUCKILY we did the rest on finance. As we were about the drive off the forecourt a seatbelt / airbag warning come up on the car. Assured that this was the recall which has been fixed, we drove away. We were told that if it doesn’t we can take it to any garage here in Plymouth to have this sorted. When we got home after a 2 hour drive we noticed that the seatbelt didn’t even work, how did it pass a NEW MOT!? Red flags began pinging!!! Fast forward 10 days as we went on holiday. I found out multiple lights that has started to pop up and found out that the DPF light was coming on/ flashing up. So had it plugged into the Carly where that warning kept coming on. Contacted the dealership with these issues as the car also hasn’t been serviced despite being told we couldn’t have it until that had been done. I was told that I had to return back it to Gloucester to have these faults looked at even though I was told I could have it sorted where I live - absolutely fuming as I had a 4 month old baby! Along with these faults the car kept telling me it needed to go on the ramp etc. The garage insisted that I took the car back but could only provide a courtesy vehicle which would have not been suitable! So I asked them to recover the car which they did. After having it 10 days the car comes back with no receipt of what worked has been done, covered in bird faeces, hay, mud and fag ash in the footwell (we don’t smoke!) and 500 miles added to the clock without an explanation. The next day the heating system completely failed leaving me with no air con or heating again with a baby! I contacted the dealership and they put me in contact with their after sales who insisted I used someone who they recommended to look at the car. After days had gone by I was told to contact a mobile mechanic which I did to be told he only covers portsmouth!! This was the final straw and I demanded to take it to my garage who I use regularly to be told that the car needs a new heating system and that the DPF was severely blocked and would need a new one! So 10 days of having the car, they did nothing!!! Which was going to cost £5000 which they would not pay and I now wanted to reject the car. They then began hitting me with the rights act saying they have the right to have the car back to investigate these faults!! I called the finance company who told me I have grounds to reject this car and put in a complaint which I did so. Fast forward… weeks and weeks the garage accepted the rejection. I think if I didn’t have the finance company backing me they would have tried to play silly buggers and fob me off more than they have already done! They had the car back and then said I have to pay £600 out of my deposit for a respray due to bird poo damaging the paint work which was 100% there when they sold the car!!!! Absolutely livid. But I’m so glad I do not have to deal with these cowboys anymore!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID! If you do insist on buying after this review please take multiple photos of the car when you get it back to your home!!!!

Mike in response to AVOID!!!
We have a very similar issue, I also tried to leave a review but they firstly reported my review as the wrong garage, then when I marked it as the correct correct they flagged my review for defamation, threatening comments. The only reason they don’t have worse reviews is because they flag all the negative ones they can get away with!
Liars. Be aware if these thieves. Matt who was dealing with me Needed a car asap but i really liked a BMW 3 series they had and reserved with a deposit. They had to get it MOTd and it failed and once then done the work and it passed the MOT they lied to me car had engine management light come and it's costing too much to fix so won't fix it to Sell as not worth it. And will refund me my deposit. Been 3 days no refund and they have advertised the car again for a higher price. So lied to me so they can sell for a higher price.
Very disappointed with their lack of empathy and sly dealings
Bought a car from these Cowboys only to find there is no spare wheel no locking nut no will brace no jack When I noticed a few months later, contacted them and they did not give a s*** They weren't one bit interested and the salesman was very unsympathetic Stay well away from these w****** Don't forget their name auto-trade South West S*** bags
I paid(refundable) deposit to test drive a car. Then I decided not to go ahead with purchasing the car( which I right) now I am being told the deposit is "non refundable" by making some poor excuse. I am glad I didn't buy anything from these cowboys. So I want people to exercise caution, and not get rip off.
