*** AVOID AVOID AVOID *** PLEASE READ! Bought a Range Rover Velar from these back in February 2024 and what a mistake that was. I specifically asked about the timing chain issue before purchasing the car as its a common and expensive problem and was told by Mark that he didn't know anything about this problem, never had an issues with any velar's that he's sold and it will have full warranty any way. So we flew up from the south west to Edinburgh, was collected by someone who was extremely annoyed and rude and was told 5 mins into the drive that he didn't know he had to collect us until that morning and he had other plans so was pissed off. When we arrived he said hello gave me the key and went off with someone else. No more than 10 minutes looking around the car and Mark says 'I don't mean to rush u but I have alot of people due in today, so are u happy with the car?' Seemed quite forward considering we just flew from one end of the country to the other. Before we even got home we had problems with the car, I tried to call Mark and was ignored. I messaged him and got a brief reply later but at this point we was on our way home. 7.5 hour journey. Just over 2 months later, a light came on the dash. It went to a specialist landrover mechanic who plugged it in to find 14 fault codes... Main issue was... to do with the timing chain.... other faults were EGR valve, split hose on air con (being winter we didn't realise it wasn't working) and various other codes which have all been forward to the dealer. I called Mark before any work had started and he said 'get the work done, what ever the warranty company doesn't pay he will sort out with them as they should cover it all' and he can argue it as he uses this company all the time. £3,800 in garage bills later, 4 weeks without a car and the work is done. Since then Mark has ignored all my emails and messages. Warranty company only paid £1650 and I chose to have £800 of stuff done at my own choice so there's around £1,350 that was fault codes which we have had to pay and no response from this cow boy dealer. I've now taken out legal action and have a solicitor who is dealing with this and we are going for full compensation for hassle and stress, repair costs and time loss dealing with this over 5 weeks now. Mark sells dodgy cars, tells you what you want to hear and then ignores you. Just to clarify... I had this work carried out under Marks' instruction, and now he has ignored all contact. *** AVOID AVOID AVOID ***

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL SERVICE;- I have never ever experienced this shabby, unprofessional, full of excuses purchase of a car in my life! I bought an Infinity FX on the 14th September and dealt with a salesman from Braidwood Motors called Mark. The car was immaculate and during the interaction with Mark he was very chatty and friendly and the advert provided all the relevant details that I was looking for in buying a car of this size (service history, MOT, mileage etc) I managed to get what I thought was a good deal for a decent car. Delivery was arranged for the Friday of that week by low loader to my home address, the car arrived on time and I was over the moon with its appearance, the driver didn’t/couldn’t explain the controls as he didn’t know anything about the car, and handed the keys and documents to me and promptly left. I drove the car around for about 30 minutes to get a feel for it and loved it, I proceeded to stop at a garage and fill the tank up with fuel, £70 later I was on my way home. On arriving home I checked through the paperwork only to find no service history provided in the paperwork, I called Mark requesting he could provide this thinking he had forgot to include the service book in the paperwork. He said he would call me back once he had located it, he called back within 10 minutes to declare that he had a telephone conversation with the 75 year old previous owner, who assured Mark that he has had it fully serviced twice per year, but clearly could not provide the service book with the stamps nor invoices he told me, but I got the feeling from Marks attitude that I had to accept that the old man assured him so surely I would accept that! He also proceeded to provide me with advice that I didn’t require service history as the car should only be worth 5k in a years time and at that price nobody would be looking for service history!!! I started to get the impression that Mark was being condescending towards me and I should just listen to him as he knew best. I requested the contact details of the company he arranged the finance through so I could cancel the agreement with them, he told me to Google it when he gave me their name, I still have not located the company so am worried that I still have a ghost financial responsibility that can’t be cancelled because he wouldn’t give me the contact details!!! Very immature attitude. I told him that I wouldn’t have bought the car had I known it did not have any service history, this is a big 3.0ltr engine so I was expecting to get this as per the garages advertisement of the car. I told him that I was covered by the remote purchase deal and if he couldn’t provide service history I wanted to return the car and cancel the deal, I even asked him for the details of the other Infinity he had in stock which he said he would get back to me but never did. this all took place on the arrival day of the car. His attitude changed completely towards me thereafter. I asked him if he could arrange to pick the car back up but was abruptly informed that he wouldn’t be doing that and that I would have to get the car back to him, even after I explained that I couldn’t get transport to get home, he suggested I get the train back which would include two taxis and two trains to get home! Lots more detail to narrate but not a lot of time, to summarise additional to the above:- not paying my deposit back in full nor reimbursing me for the £70 of fuel, stating that he would pay a % of my deposit of £3000 with the balance paid when I get the V5 back to him, which ended up not being paid back when he received the V5 because according to him DVLA had messed up and he couldn’t sell the car without the correct V5, (although it was advertised again the day after I returned it to him at a higher price) stating he would SORN the car (although it’s in my name so not sure if that’s even legal for him to do that without my permission) he got the car back within 2 days so I would have expected my full refund paid back to me directly. Mark has been nothing but unprofessional once he accepted that he had wrongly sold this car to me with published misinformation regarding very important service history, not responding to messages etc. I will be informing Citizens Advice, the Financial Omnibusman, auto trader and Trading Standards of the attitude of this garage and it’s sales people, in the hope that they may retrain Mark in his attitude and management of customers, at least they will know what he’s been up to! I have messaged the directors by email but suspect they don’t receive this as the details were given to me by Mark! Ernie E

Don’t do it ! We bought an Evoque from Mark and in the 8 months we have had it , we have had to spend £5k due to engine management issues (Nox sensor , timing chains, DPF filter , rusting brake discs , electrics ) - the crap warranty covers nothing and Braidwood are not interested at all in helping us resolve these issues - the car is a lemon and so will you be if you buy from here , please don’t ignore the warning

Bought Audi Cabrolet beautiful car just what I wanted. However was not told about the tarnished chromework the broken sun visor and had to valet it. Cost me about 100 pound however did let Mark know but no reply. No worries the pluses out weigh the negatives.
Bought a Vauxhall Corsa a couple of weeks ago. Great car, six months warranty included and excellent customer service from Mark.

Would NOT recommend this garage. Bought a Volvo here on 19/11/20. Everything was brilliant before the sale and Mark was very friendly. Drove from Dumfries to see and test drive before paying our deposit while waiting for the service and MOT to be carried out before purchasing. In this time Mark also had a repair done to a small rip on a seat which we thought was great. The very next morning the car was making a horrendous noise so I took it to our local Volvo specialist for a quick check and found that the back break pads were metal to metal altho it had passed it’s MOT less than 24hours before hand with no advisories. I was advised by our local garage that this was not road safe and should not have passed an MOT. Mark did not seem happy that I had my own garage check and carry out the work and was very reluctant to reimburse the cost of the pads. Coincidentally the brake pads was an advisory for last years MOT aswell as a nail in left rear tire and surprise surprise the nail was still in the tire so I’ve also had to put a new tire on. A few days in and still hearing noises from the rear which was from the break discs so I replaced them and paid for this myself as Mark wasn’t so friendly after my 1st issue. Another few days in and I had to put a calliper on the rear left. I tried contacting the warranty as I was sold this vehicle with 6 months executive warranty but I was soon informed by them that i needed proof of services for this to be valid. I bought this car with the understanding that it did have service history but in fact I didn’t receive any proof of service not even the service stamp from the service Mark had claimed he done therefor the warranty is invalid. (Very doubtful a service was carried out as the car didn’t even have screen wash in it) This car was also advertised with 2 keys and I only received 1 key which was flagging up as having a low battery. I did not receive a green slip / new keepers slip for the car and have still not received a V5. After asking Mark for the green slip or even a photo of this his reply was NO. After contacting the DVLA with regards to the V5 and discussing my issues they have advised me that there has been no paper work completed for a V5 since June and that from what I’ve told them they are very doubtful that the MOT was carried out (which was what my local garage had also said) and have advised me to contact DVSA. By the sounds of things this car never seen an MOT and has just had a certificate slapped on it. Never again will I buy from hear. I’ve had to give 1 star only because there’s no option for none!

Not one for leaving reviews but feel I need to in this case just purchased a golf gti and the service we received from start to finish wash fantastic mark and Garry made the whole process so easy was also told over the phone that the car was in mint condition as sales people usually do lol but when we went to view the car it was absolutely flawless 3 years old and looked like it just rolled out the factory so thanks again guys we will definitely be back to Braidwood Motor Company for our next car.
We purchased a Mercedes E220 for my wife and found the whole process hassle free and absolutely no pressure to buy. We dealt with Mark who was very knowledgeable and patient enough to shift a few cars around to allow my wife to test drive a couple before making her decision. Plenty of choice on the forecourt. As a customer who cannot stand dealing with the likes of Arnold Clark I found Braidwood to be a breath of fresh air. Definitely recommended

I bought an Audi Q5 from Braidwood Motor Company in June 2018. The sales process was OK and I liked the car which was very well presented. There was no negotiation to be had and I paid top dollar, but I bought the car. Almost immediately I realised it had an oil consumption problem - long story short this is a known Audi TFSI issue and requires an engine rebuild at a cost of circa £7000. I got zero support from Braidwood in resolving the problem and not a single reply to any e-mail (I suspect to avoid acknowledgement 'in writing'). Apparently they did not know this was a well known Audi problem. After several months and a lot of hassle I was absolutely amazed when Audi did the work for free. The clutch on the car also failed and the 'executive warranty' was of no use whatever. Braidwood offered to fix it, but to bring the whole saga to a quick end - by now I was 4 months into drawn out, stressful and very inconvenient process - I had Audi do it at the same time as the engine rebuild and asked Braidwood for a contribution to the cost. They refused. In summary, until you part with your money they seem fine, after that you are on your own. I more or less got away with a potentially dreadful situation but no thanks at all to Braidwood. The quote I got was "I know why you might see this as personal. For us it's just business." Buyer beware.

Braidwood Motor Company contacted me on Facebook and told me he has a cheap but good car for sale. I bought it, it broke after 3 months. According to the consumer protection act, I took it back for repair or refund, but the dealer told me that he sold me the car as a private person, not as a company, so I'm not entitled to any kind of warranty. So I'm thinking, has the dealer scammed by, impersonating the company he is working for, or the company itself is so low to do this?! Their last response, after I left the car there to be fixed, was to come and take the car, otherwise they'll throw it in the street.

Neil Hogarth from Braidwood Motor Company Ltd in response to I feel I've been scammed
We do not know and have no knowledge of this person. Evidently a person who has too much time on their hands, and wishes to cause a nuisance for hard working people. Therefore, an obvious scam review. Please ignore, and read the genuine reviews.
