What I appreciated most about these guys was their willingness to help. I’d enquired about a Land Rover Defender and being quite particular, asked them to point out any minor defects beforehand. They agreed to fit a body kit too which looked great, so I made the 5-hour trip to collect it once ready. There were a couple of small gaps where the kit wasn’t quite flush (something I’d hoped they’d spot) but to their credit, they sorted it there and then while I waited. Overall it was a good experience. I liked that they’re a family-run business and I drove away happy which is what matters most.

This was my first time buying from Hamworthy Car Centre but I found them very easy to deal with. Everything’s going well so far with the Land Rover Discovery. I never give anyone 5 out of 5 but I’ve got no complaints.

'MUST READ!!!! - AWFUL EXPERIENCE I was really interested in buying a convertible from here, But the dealership approved by Halifax did loads of running around in order to sort out my finance situation and getting THEIR DEALERSHIP APPROVED ON HALIFAX SYSTEM- TOOK UP TO 1 HOUR CONVERSATIONS WITH HALIFAX FOR A WEEK - during this time, I was pressured by staff during this time who was saying 2 other people are wanting the car that I am holding up to rush me, and I was doing everything i coud with the bank during that time, trying my best, whereas, 1 day later my situation changed meaning I couldn't go down to see the car, I was met with rude behavior saying I cost the company business because In that one day those 2 customers that have been so desperate to have the car have somehow managed to within one day find, finance and buy and move on. They refuses to give me the deposit back entirely by saying that it's my fault I don't want the car, that I never wanted the car etc which was completely untrue as i had put a deposit down as i was interested. I ended the call in the end, my experience was awful unfortunately, I WILL NEVER SHOP HERE'

My daughter bough a Range Rive evoque from this company in February 2022....supposed tohave a 12 month warranty....in November 2022 engine needed replacing due to oil escaping in coolant tank ....no warning lights appeared on dash and consequently this resulted in nearly £5k to put right..Hamworthy cars wanted nothing to do with this as their excuse was we only had a 6 month warranty.....thus is not what we were told on purchasing the car....They could nor careless with what happened ....no aftercare service from what at thectine if purchasexwecthoughtcwete actrustworthy company.. how wrong could we be!....so much for having the car go through a RAC check before purchase...absolute joke!....We are now considering court action ! PLEASE BE VERY WEARY ABOUT BUYING A CAR FROM THIS COMPANY

While we are sympathetic that you have had to pay out for a new engine, we do no offer 12 months warranty as standard with any of our vehicles this always a product we offer at point of sale and on collection. your daughter signed the disclaimer declining the extended warranty. The vehicle was not defective at the point of sale back last January (2022). Given the length of time you have been driving it, the 6000 miles that you have driven it for and your admission that you check the oil levels frequently, all shows that on the balance of probability the vehicle was of satisfactory quality and fit for the purpose when it was sold to you. You declined the option of paying for an extended warranty at the time, which may have assisted you had you taken it.
Sold me a van that had the mileage reduced by over 150000 miles, the DPF filter cut out and blowing black smoke. A lengthy dispute ensued to get any money back with multiple emails back and forth to Mike the director. Hamworthy did eventually defend me but I ended up significantly out of pocket due to work that had been carried out on the van and Hamworthy refused to pay for. To top this off I recieved a demand for £80 from DVLA some 2 months after returning the van as Hamworthy left it registered in my name. Great to buy from as per the multiple reviews, terrible to deal with when things go wrong. Avoid this garage at all cost

From the previous comments here, I’m sure you can see we at Hamworthy Car Centre pride ourselves on our customer service both during and after a purchase and so apologise again for your recent experience. We purchased this vehicle from auction, and it was supplied to us with guaranteed miles and a full-service history. As we do with all vehicles purchased and sold, we at Hamworthy carried out all relevant checks available regarding the mileage etc and all these checks come back clear with no discrepancies. Once though made aware of your concerns and without any further investigation, we offered you a full refund and at our expense, to collect the van from yourself in Scotland even though subsequently, your stated estimate of mileage has not been proven nor have you provided any proof; when we asked where the information came from, you simply said a “friend at Peugeot but cannot provide the evidence.” But still we refunded you the full purchase price plus your additional costs as agreed. While in your possession, you began converting this to a camper van and carried out significant modifications; having the side of the van cut out and windows fitted, off road tyres, and light bars which damaged the front bumper. Yes, there was some backwards and forwards on email regarding costs, but we came to an agreement to reimburse you for these extra modifications but not for parts that were not fitted to the van and still in your possession. You were satisfied with the outcome and agreed this on email. On collection of the van, you did not supply us with the V5 meaning we could not return the van to the original vendor. When we repeatedly asked for the V5, you attempted to obtain additional monies even after we’d previously agreed a full and final settlement. To this day, the mileage discrepancy still hasn’t been proven and furthermore there is no evidence to back up your assertion of a DPF having been cut out the van as you stated. The V5 not being transferred was an admin error and we do apologise for this. But even here, while trying to rectify this, you phoned and spoke to a member of staff who was unable to have a conversation with you due to your constant swearing and abusive manner. While we fully appreciate your frustration, swearing at members of staff, abusive calls and texts did not help. In summary, after your first complaint and at the earliest opportunity, we offered a full refund without question, collected the van at our expense and paid your additional costs for the modifications carried out. On this basis, we believe Hamworthy Car Centre have acted more than reasonably and did everything possible to rectify an unfortunate situation. We therefore believe your negative review to be somewhat unjustified.
