I visited the site to look at a Volvo V70 which was advertised with Active suspension which would have cost over £4,000 when new. When talking to Damien he assured me that the car had an MOT in November last with no advisories and that it had also been serviced in November with the previous documented service by Volvo in March 2018. After the vehicle was delivered I requested details of the last service as no details had been supplied with the vehicle. I was eventually supplied with a copy of an invoice as proof of the 'service work' carried out in November 2020 which turned out to be an oil and filter change - this after nearly 3 years since the previous service!! Certainly not what any reputable garage would have considered remotely adequate. The invoice they gave me also revealed that the vehicle had originally failed the MOT test - because of faulty wipers - and also notified 3 advisories. Three days later, with new wipers and no distance travelled, the vehicle passed with no advisories - with a different Tester. Why?? Well, 'coincidentally' the invoice revealed that another task paid for by Lakeview was to clean the three shock absorbers that the three advisories related to thereby concealing the fact that they were leaking and therefore failing. This was not rectification work but work to cover up problems that would otherwise have appeared as advisories on the subsequent MOT Pass certificate. Cleaning shock absorbers is NOT part of any normal service! Needless to say I have requested my money back as I would never have purchased the vehicle at the price if I had been told the truth - just to replace the shock absorbers would cost me £2350!! So far denial but we will find out what the Court thinks of such devious behaviour.
