AVOID PETER VARDY VAUXHALL AT ALL COST! The most HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I have ever had dealing with a company! Bought a car from Billy (Sales) who said how buying a car is life’s second biggest purchase and that Peter Vardy would look after you - complete lies. UNTRUSTWORTHY company, DISORGANISED and no one keeps their promises. The car sold to me is a faulty 68 plate insignia (12900 miles), that had 2 EML lights within a week. I phoned the Complaints Team 3 times and I spoke with David (reception) who said he would pass the details to Amy (complaints officer), however no one called me back. Despite being 4 times in PV, not even once did I get an apology from Billy for the whole inconvenience caused. Before completing the purchase, Billy advised how the car goes through a complete and robust Quality Check and he ensured me that everything was going to be top-notch before handing the vehicle over. On handover day (Friday 23/04/21) the car was DIRTY, both inside and outside (when I cleaned the car myself that night I found someone's NAILS in the rear door compartment). In addition, the car was MISSING an inflation kit and had a DAMAGED driver’s door (2cm scratch), which I could clearly see was fresh. I was told I would need to come back another day to get the door fixed and to get the inflation kit. Clearly, they hadn’t done their quality check beforehand as originally promised. On the next day, only after 50 miles in the car I got an EML light on. I went to PV and was told to come on Monday 26/04 at 12.30pm since service was shut over the weekend. I went to PV on Monday as being told, but no one knew I was coming. I was NOT booked in for inspection and I wasted a whole trip, only to be told to come back on Tuesday morning (27/04) by the Service department (this could have been arranged over the phone). Miscommunication happens, but Morgan at Service was so arrogant - instead of offering a solution such as a lift back the next day, she kept saying that’s the process and they couldn’t do anything about it, while being passive-aggressive. I had to phone every day for 3 days to check the progress of the car as there was a part delay and I kept being told I will get a call back with updates but I didn’t received a single call back, not even when the car was eventually ready for collection. On collection day, the car mats were dirtier than I had left the vehicle. Moreover, to pour oil on the flames, I noticed the front plate had fallen off. I immediately rushed back in and the only genuinely nice person I met at PV was Kevin, who was quick to take the vehicle back in the workshop and screwed the plate in. Today 01/05 I drove 20 miles and all sorts of lights came on flashing - Ad Blue 500 miles left (provided that ad blue was 100% full when driving away), Ad blue system service required, Vehicle service required, EML light on. This is truly the most horrible experience a first-time car buyer could ever have who’s owned a car for just 7 days. This is the 2nd time an EML light comes on a Saturday after service is shut. My car would need to be booked in again and God knows how long it would stay with PV and even if they fix it, not sure what else they would brake along the process. Being a brand new car owner of a 2-year old vehicle, I am unable to go on a long-distance weekend trip due to worrying over whether another engine light will come on and that the car may let me down in the middle of nowhere. Not to mention the £40 new vauxhall matts Billy had sold us on top of the car price which are the wrong size for our car and don’t fit. Today I noticed the car’s air conditioning display was pushed in on one side (possibly due to past repairs). If only I could give the car back and get a full refund I would do it with absolute pleasure if that would mean I don’t have to deal with anyone from Peter Vardy ever again!!! N.B. I have noticed a GDPR issue by receiving the car with previous Bluetooth connections left in the system.

I recently enquired about a vehicle and decided to go ahead and purchase it. Billy took my card details and what I thought was a deal then turned into a nightmare!! The car I was purchasing was mid sold the wrong price on the website I was informed it was wrongly priced after the deal was confirmed! Then I saw another and was told it was wrongly priced also! I was assured that I would be dealt with by Billy that he would find me another car as he knew exactly what I was looking for that was last week and I have heard nothing since! Absolute terrible customer service so I decided to purchase a car from Arnold Clark instead I am so disappointed with this service.

Well this is the worst dealership I ever had business with. The story: I bought a car for 9 grands in January from their shop in Dundee. The staff was friendly, explained everything etc.. I noticed that there were some issues in MOT and they said they will fix it. It all sounded great so I went forward with it. After I got the car, I asked them by email 3 times if the MOT was fixed and got 0 responses. When I called and asked they hung up. I was just amazed by the aftersales support, I have never encountered something as bad. I also noticed that they wrote in the service log that the service was made, but after I inspected the car I've seen that it was not. I've used the cars for less than 2 months to commute from Perth to Edinburgh and when I moved to Edinburgh I've decided to sell the car. I went to Peter Vardy since I thought that I will get the best price since I bought it from the less than 2 months ago. I was terribly wrong. They bought it for 7 grands since I honestly didn't have the time to deal with other suppliers. But ok that was my choice. The day after I dropped the car there I've noticed that I forgot the Plug and Drive unit from the insurance in the car. I messaged them 2 times, no response. I called and after I explained the situation the hung up again. So again, TERRIBLE after sales. Now I need to pay 50 £ for the unit. Short story: the most terrible after sales I have ever experienced. Never returning back to them. Would definitely not recommend.

Bought a car in August 2020. Told them what day I was collecting car, they said MOT would be done that morning for picking car up. Upon arrival car hadn't been MOT'd. Peter Vardys policy is 9 months minimum MOT, which mines didn't have. I was then given a voucher for the MOT to which the adviser Ayaz had advised that MOT & other costs involved would be included. Peter Vardy had stated that the tread on my tyres were below their own minimum standard to which they would of replaced. This was not done as they hadn't carried out MOT. Now after my car being in for MOT I am being told by manager Billy Fraser, that they will not be covering the costs for repairs. Total rip off! Will not be using Peter Vardy in future.

Peter Vardy Vauxhall Edinburgh. Unprofessional, unwilling to take responsibility for their own incompetence, unpleasant to deal with and felt taken advantage of. Had my car in for over 9months completing warranty work, to correct faulty warranty work they completed previously. Excuse after excuse and delay after delay. Assume no urgency as it was warranty work. Eventually work was "complete", car had inexplicably developed a loud and obvious vibration, Peter Vardy would not accept responsibility, and because my warranty was now expired as they had the car so long, I would need to pay to rectify. They advised they would be charging £400+ for gearbox removal to check what the noise was. Absolute amateurs. Took it to a specialist who noted a small bearing and seal had been hammered and damaged during the Peter Vardy works. Nothing to do with the gearbox at all. Fixed quickly and easily. Peter Vardy Vauxhall Edinburgh, hope never to have to deal with them again. Sorry for anyone that does. Totally incompetent, and service staff member I was dealing with was Mr. Slopey Shoulders at every opportunity. Terrible experience overall. Avoid at all costs

Purchased an Audi 2 months ago and has already had to be put back twice to get fixed, engine management light came in 2 days after purchasing and couldn’t drive for 2 weeks, terrible service from the person who sold the car, I had to book everything in myself and heard nothing back, I was also promised money back as a gesture for all the hassle and received nothing! After having it back a week another warning light came on and having to get it taken back in to get fixed - and again unable to drive! Paying £15,000 for a car to not be able to use and for the service given to be so awful! Would no recommend purchasing from here. The lady at services has been the only helpful person, but sales and the aftercare are absolutely horrendous.

I booked my daughters Vauxhall’s Astra Estate in to a main dealership for a service. She took it along on the date and was greeted by someone who had no idea why the car was booked in. Even though I had told the dealership of the things, apart from the service that needed looking at. On this day they promised to contact both myself and my daughter as to progress etc, nothing happened on their day at all. This left her without transport. The following morning I called them to find out what was happening, I was told that they were short staffed and far too busy to call. They then told me the rear brake pads needed replacing, this I told them when I booked it in. A glow plug needed replacing the DLR was not working and the rear exhaust box need replacing. I decided that they should do the brakes and the glow plug but not the rest. Anyway they couldn’t proceed until the parts were ordered and that wouldn’t be today, Really, a main dealer without stock items to carry out repairs, Unbelievable! So the vehicle was not ready that day either, another day without transport. It was finally ready on the afternoon of the third day. The worst thing is I booked the car into my local exhaust fitting depot for the exhaust. The guys there called me in to see the vehicle on the ramp and asked my why the exhaust needed replacing, I told them the reason and to my dismay the exhaust on the car was fine and didn’t need replacing. Obviously Peter Vardy came up with this rouse to make more money, a very fraudulent statement from them. It makes me wonder if any of the other bits need doing! As regards the DLR, they didn’t need replacing just turning back on. So from my experience do not use, trust or go to Peter Vardy, Edinburgh (Vauxhall). They are inefficient, and they will rip you off.

will keep it brief and hopefully give you enough to make you go elsewhere and avoid PV like the plague. Add in alloy cover, extended warranty and gap insurance into the deal without asking if you want it and without showing you any information on those products, when I queried it I was told i had said during our chat around the showroom car park that those products would be beneficial to me...con men Car was supposed to have a covid deep clean, it was disgusting with crumbs, hair and sweet wrappers in the seats, steering wheel, handbrake and gear knob ingrained with dirt, windows filthy, rear head lining had vomit on it, £100 I had to spend on products and 4hrs of my time to clean it...liars Had to constantly phone about missing paperwork and wrong information on emails, phone calls about complaints not returned, had to threaten legal action to get complaints dealt with. Supposed to take the car in for its first MOT (free) but I won't be because I won't let them near the car after reading other reviews, they apparently serviced the car before I got it but it will be getting a service with the MOT from Toyota because I don't trust they will have done it at all after reading other reviews...avoid! So please go elsewhere and save your sanity, time and money, this place is a disgrace and needs a total overhaul, it's like a dumping ground for bad managers, dodgy salesmen and rubbish technicians and whoever cleans the cars needs sacking.

Ross in response to Con men, liars, avoid at all costs

It's absolutely shocking, I just read this after you responded to my review. I'm still waiting to have some of my issues resolved 8 months later. My finance company intervened and only then did they bother to get in touch to get the car taken back just before lockdown. It's on my way to and from work and I passed to find my car was taken from the car park and dumped by the road with the rear tyre creased half on the kerb. Got it back the following day with nothing sorted. They said they'd be back in touch once things reopened but they've been back for 5 weeks and nothing. Makes you laugh when you leave reviews and they ask you to email their customer service department yet they ignore that too. I sent 2 letters via tracked method and they still refused to acknowledge anything. They're a right shower the lot of them.

Graham Barker in response to Con men, liars, avoid at all costs

That is a ridiculous way to treat anyone, i think I got off lightly compared to some. They certainly don't do the checks on vehicles like they claim, the tracking is off on my car and that is something very basic that anyone should have picked up on so I think they have a quick look at best and chance everything is OK. That's something else I will pay to get fixed elsewhere, it really shows how bad a place is when you don't trust them to do something straightforward like tracking. When you walk around the showroom car park and look at the cars you notice how bad some of them are, alloys on most of the cars are damaged and bodywork is a state. The cars in for repairs are crammed in like sardines so its no wonder they get damaged, cars also dumped on the road like yours parked badly. The place is a shambles.

Graham Barker in response to Con men, liars, avoid at all costs

update, horrible smell like wet dog has been bugging me so it was suggested I check the cabin filter...surely not that as it's apparently had a full service just before I bought it, surprise surprise cabing filter was filthy and stinking so bought a new bosch one and fitted it and smell has gone so more expense for something that should have been done. These cowboys don't do any checks and they certainly don't do a proper service. I now have to put it through its MOT and get a service done on it myself because I wouldn't let them near it so that's at least another £200 out my own pocket. Peter Vardy are nothing but crooks.

Graham Barker in response to Con men, liars, avoid at all costs

update, found out car hasn't had the service that has been stamped in the book. Filters all filthy, wheels haven't been off the car in god knows how long (filthy wheel nuts) screen wash half full and only water, fluid caps in engine bay filthy so no finger marks from removing them. Two different tyres on the front axle one near new the other near done. Now having to put the car through its mot, service, brake fluid change at my own expense. They aren't interested because I never told them sooner...I'm no mechanic and took their word that the work was done, sorry for believing you! Atrocious customer service and paul smith is a shocking representative for peter vardy.

Don’t buy a vehicle here under any circumstances. Sales agent Chris Mack Manager Paul Smith By far the worst customer service I have ever received from a garage. Bought a nearly new vw transporter 15 k miles. Fully serviced and in perfect condition , ( so they told me) Picked it up 1. Back doors don’t open. ( how can you even try sell a vehicle where the doors don’t open) 2. No service manual 3. Rear light damaged Got the van home slow puncture , Christmas tree dash board , service light erg light, Dfp light Got the vehicle serviced as per trading standards recommendation as Peter vardy never got back to me after 3 months of badgering , vehicle has never ever been serviced, massive nail in the tyre ( been there a long time according to garage ,perished rubber around nail) There customer services team simply pass you back to Dealership , who have no interest in dealing with the complaint, there exact words “ it’s on you”.. They have agreed to supply a vw service book and light 2 weeks back but it’s yet to arrive in the post. I have invoiced them for the service and for fixing the doors. In conclusion don’t risk your life and money buying a vehicle here. Contact the elusive Chir Mack, ye ye. That was December now it’s July.

Pauline Watson in response to Danger

Paul Smith is arrogant, patronising and rude. The worst experience of my life dealing with peter vardy vauxhall edinburgh and he refuses to help once he has your money. A disgrace of a "manager" and a does peter vardy no favours having him in charge. An idiot in charge of clowns in one of the worst run dealerships I've had the misfortune of using. Never again.
