Horrendous company do not use,sold a car with multiple problems. an I bet the car will need even more money spent on it before I've finished paying for it.
The men who work at PS Ponting are disgusting so so so rude and they tell lies to get there own way. They sold me a car that not only shouldn't have passed an MOT but also way way over charged me for it as well. Would definitely not recommend this garage under any circumstances.
I recently bought a Volvo V50 D5, a beautiful car, although unfortunately there was a problem with the auto gear box. I took it back to them, and they sorted it no quibble. I've been buying cars from PS Ponting for a number of years now, great service and they give peace of mind.
We have just purchased a vehicle from PS Ponting, and from the initial phone call, they could not have been more helpful. Due to the fact we where traveling quite a distance to view and take a test drive, I asked the owner Philip to do a walk round and give his honest opinion and describe the vehicle in detail, he kindly did this, and to my amazement when we arrived it was even better than I expected, I completed the purchase and arranged to collect it at a later date, and he even arranged for us to be collected from the station. It all started off so well, the car we looked at on the forecourt and wanted to buy had an electrical problem which Steve told us about but said that it would be sorted prior to us collecting and making full payment, it turns out that the car was beyond repair and couldn’t be sold to us, so we went for something else we had seen on the forecourt. I checked the previous MOT and saw there were issues which needed to be sorted to get it to pass the MOT, I also asked for it to be serviced. They did fix previous MOT failure points but were apparently too busy to get the car serviced (in the 4 days between us paying deposit and collected the car), so we took the car to our local garage to be serviced - thank god we did! Our garage found multiple and expensive issues with the car! we made him aware but apparently, he could do nothing without the owners say so, who happened to be on holiday. We made a complaint to Pontings and also contacted trading standards who told us we were entitled to a full refund or the car repaired, but still Pontings would do nothing without the approval of the owner. 2 weeks we waited for the owner, the car broke down (engine warning light), we got in touch again to be told they could do nothing until the owner was back 3 days later! Thankfully the AA could sort it (oh and avoid using Green Flag – they refused to attend due to the age of the car but that’s another complaint!) We eventually spoke to the owner on his return to the office and he agreed to repair all of the issues, who was annoyed that the faults were not rectified before we took ownership. The car has now been fully repaired but this has very much made us question our choice of garage. Were sales friendly and helpful before we bought a car – Yes Were sales friendly and helpful after we bought a car – No (as far from helpful as you can imagine) Was the owner friendly and helpful – Yes (VERY) Would we go back to Pontings - No
Sadly I was in a hurry and under pressure from a woman never a good thing. I was under the impression the days of the crooked second hand car dealer had evaporated. I Understood in the 70s and 80s legislation had been introduced to protect the customer. I got it wrong. I bought a car which was claimed to be low mileage. As a result I agreed to pay over book in fact a lot over book. The Garage owner claimed the car had a full service history. What a lie. On investigation there was so much involved with people fiddling the service Manuel it became a joke. I spent months trying to put a history together. Talking to garages and DVLA> The owner of Pontins knew nothing about the car. He had bought iit from a Auction and gave me a story. He claimed to have serviced the car before I picked it up. That can be proved. He was aware of other faults which he could have dealt with before he marketed the vehicle. In the first year I Fitted a new Battery, Starter Motor, Bushes front and rear. Four new tires. Tracking set up. Brakes all round. Water pump. My total bills were £1500. I paid £2000 over book price for the car. I have completed a file and will be taking Pontins to Court to recover my losses and the overpayment as the car had no service history whatsoever.
I've bought a car from this local dealership before, the service I received when buying my second vehicle of them was also great. I would definitely recommend this dealership to friends and family.
Pontings Banbury were very helpful, actually felt as though the customer mattered. All of the staff were friendly and helpful.
After so much adverse publicity Pontins in Banbury have received, I thought I would write something positive. I saw the car I wanted on their website via Auto Trader and phoned them up explaining my situation, that I could get to Banbury by train and if they could pick me up from the station, which was agreed. I saw the car and was told I could not test drive it that day, but they could bring it to me in Eynsham to test drive when it was ready. So I left them a deposit and a few days later it was brought over for me to drive. The car drove very well so decided to have it. Everything was finalised a few days later and I arranged to pick the car up, once again I was picked and taken to them. After having the car for a few days it developed a fault and has gone back to them to rectify, they have lent me a car whilst the fault is being fixed. The car in question is a Jaguar S Type SE 2.7 Diesel. I cannot thank Steve and team enough for all they have done for me. Well done Pontins and thank-you.
Bought a car that was supposed to be serviced before I picked it up, it wasn't. Had issues with it making an awful noise when it started up. Went back and was told it had a service and there was nothing wrong. Had a phone call later from Shilock himself telling me to keep away and not criticise his ( mechanics) his view not mine. still problem with car but no one willing to do anything about it. I am a pensioner and can't afford to have any work done myself. Only bought the car in April. Once bitten twice shy. STAY AWAY from this place.
