I'm still struggling to believe how stupid I am buying a vehicle from SH Car Sales without checking out this website first looking at all the reviews. We arrived and were shown a recently badly cleaned car which unfortunately has only delivered further problem bills since owning. Yes, I bought the car and managed to knock off £250 from the asking price but on driving the car home got a number of warning lights flashing up on the dashboard? The Service light initially and then engine management light. I called to be told that although recently serviced the light can come on if not reprogrammed. I was also told that on inspection by my regular mechanic who went over the car with a fine tooth comb that it would take about £1,800 to rectify, service book stamped but on calling the approved garages of each service was told the vehicle had not had certain service work done, so who did tick the book then? Cam belt needed replacing also major service, rocker box oil leak, shock absorber replacement needed, CV boot and numerous issues not rectified. These all additional to what I thought I'd needed. So I called again to speak with several people as the phones was passed to and from two people, Jamie being the last and was told that the Warranty only covered me for £250. Although my mechanic had said the car was barely road worthy it had passed an MOT? Also after asking for the work to be covered Jamie said I was a person who he would like to meet and offered me the opportunity to bring the car back so he could talk to me about my money grabbing ways. He might afford me the honour of loaning me money from his Loan Company .Do not buy from these men is the best advice I can give. Trading Standards have been sent a complaint and I will deal with it that way, as no refund has been paid after several calls for a refund. Avoid S H Car Sales at all costs.

I purchased a car 6 weeks ago from this company only to find out there was major damage to the car internally that they had in fact tried to cover up. My car is still sat there burning into the 3 month warranty and had been promised a courtesy car whilst mine goes in for repair, I was then said I couldn't have a courtesy car. So after 2 weeks of trying to sort out how to get my car fixed and paying £100 for a diagnostic SH car sales said they would collect my car and repair it for me under the warranty. A week goes by and every I have had to call them a minimum of 5 times to see when my car is being collected and every time I speak with someone no one knows anything about the matter and yet everyone labels themselves as the "manager". I want to warn you to seriously consider buying a car from this company. They let me purchase a car that is unsafe to drive and now will not deal with the problem. They are very unprofessional, rude and clearly incompetent.

Turned up today to look at a nice and clean Subaru Impreza that I found on Autotrader. Having driven 40 miles to see the car, to be 'greeted' by several unwelcoming guys (in fact I even repeated my hello as I thought they hadn't heard me) only to be ignored. This site is weird, all loose gravel and yet Aston Martins, Ferraris and some nice cars. Some looked like they were being stripped for parts? No prices on the windscreens either, everything was filthy, 3 Range Rovers side by side which looked like they hadn't been moved in months, and yet they were not standard too, big body kits etc. The guy wandered down with the jump starter, It honestly looked like a different car to what I had seen on the Internet and then I looked back at the pictures, every dent, every corroded wheel had been carefully angled the right way in the pics. I used to be a car dealer and I'm staggered they are still trading. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS 'DEALER'.

A very good service at S H Car Sales. The staff were ever so friendly I brought my new shape Vauxhall Astra at such a good price and it had low mileage. I'm a happy customer.

Very pleased with our purchase of a 2006 Mini Cooper. A great purchase from an Autotrader company. I can't even begin to count the number of "little car sales plots" I've visited over the years....you have to take them at face value and not expect too much. Go in with the attitude of 'If it's the right car in the condition I expect it to be in, at the right price', then it's not a lot different from buying privately, where there is no after sales service or promises that you can count on. If you want a suited salesman or posh surroundings, look elsewhere. But there are decent deals to be made here. The car my daughter wanted, looked in the advert on Autotrader (and Exchange & Mart, and on S H Cars' website), to be a good mileage (44K), and looked to be in good condition inside and out. She negotiated by phone and was reassured about some points which I suggested she mentioned. It also had a full service history. She paid a £200 deposit. At the same time, we got the most recent MOT number from him, and went on directgov to check out the MOT history of the car. It turned out that it was just out of its MOT, but in both the 2013 and 2014 MOTs there had been advisory notices about the corroded rear exhaust box and the EML warning light on the dashboard. My daughter asked the guy about these and said that if she was going to buy the car, she really wanted these doing properly with a replacement rear exhaust and the EML light not just cancelling but fixing properly as it was likely that a new lambda sensor was required. He said he would get these done. My daughter went on mycarcheck.com and checked that it was hpi clear, that it was not a write off etc etc. That is always a tenner worth spending for absolute peace of mind. We did our homework on common faults on Mini Coopers too. I made a list of things to check out when we inspected the car. I also checked out S H Car Sales by using google maps and street maps and I could see that it was just a plot of land in a village that he was selling cars from. That in itself was not a problem to me. I checked the company's reputation on here, and found that there was a lot of criticism and customer dissatisfaction, although a few people had positive purchasing experiences. I didn't mention this to my daughter, not to worry her unduly, but kept it at the back of my mind, thinking that the car was either going ok or not, and we would deal with it accordingly. When my daughter and I made the 100 mile trip to SH Car sales, I hadn't expected any more than I mentioned above, and it was a good thing my expectations about the site were not high! This company is run by a pleasant enough but straightforward guy and his hundred or so cars, rather than being all of the same ilk, vary from a few hundred pounds to cars like 3 Aston Martin DB7s and Vantages, an Audi R8, a Nissan GTR, and even a Mercedes Mclaren at an unbelievable £209,000. The company is based near Bedford in a tiny village, and uses an old patch of land with horticultural glass houses under which many of the cars are stored. Many are indeed dusty but he gets them prepared when a customer is due to visit. It's odd, but so what! All I wanted was the right deal for my daughter. When we arrived, the car was being washed and valeted. It looked great. I gave it a look over, checked visually all around, looked at panel alignment, tyres, the new exhaust, interior etc, and all seemed good. We started it up and checked the engine on tick-over and when it was revved up. Then the guy handed us the keys and we took it out around the lanes for about 20 minutes. I did emergency braking, lock to lock 3 point turns, went over bumps etc, and all seemed fine. It actually drove really well, and was very nippy and felt solid. Just one thing, the Sony radio wasn't working properly due to some broken and missing buttons on the radio fascia. We took it back to S H Sales, and in seconds the guy offered us £50 towards a replacement radio. I did try to knock him down a bit more on the overall cost, but he just said that was his price (which was actually fair as he had already knocked off £150 at my daughter's request, replaced the exhaust and the lambda sensor and then the allowed £50 for the radio.) I asked him for the receipt for the exhaust box and the lambda sensor and he produced it (the receipt from a garage in Bedford was for £380 for both parts and labour, so that was a great saving for us and very reassuring that this had been done.) My daughter drove the car home, with me following, stopping at a Halfords on the way, where she bought a new Pioneer radio for £49.99. She is very proud of her new little Mini, and I am pleased she got a good deal, and a car which I have checked and I know is good and safe to drive. I would have no qualms about going back to the guy to look at another car. We've come out of this purchase well.

I bought a Toyota RAV 4 in December 2014. The car was looking good, but it had worn out break pads, weak battery and the panel lights were turning on. Strangely between engine light and hand break. They commited to have this fixed and MOT passed before I take the car. I got the car with MOT and no more engine light and the break sound was gone. Some months later I had the car serviced at Toyota and the break pad were still worn out. No engine lights. Just after that suddenly the car broke off with an intermittent ignition problem. I got it fixed by replacing a lot of sensors, wires, ignition coils, spark plugs and the battery. The mechanic noticed that the engine light should be on since before I buy this car and that the battery wasn't been replaced. He also noticed that the engine light was removed! The MOT history shows that they turned the engine off between a failed and a success check. AVOID THIS DEALER AT ALL COSTS!!!

Drove a long way to see a well presented clean looking car advertised on the S H Car Sales website. Arrived at the place and was shocked to see so many cars just parked up, dusty dirty with no price boards. We drove all the way to the end in a dirty track looking into unused green houses with soaring temperatures at the large amount of second hand cars. Was there some 20 mins, no one in sight to greet us or discuss our requirements. Found the car we had seen on the Internet, wow what a mess. It has loads of scratches, as obviously been in an accident as bonnet out of line, head lamp damaged and very dusty. Not at all inviting to want to buy it. We left very deflated after an hours wasted drive. On exit we saw a glimpse of someone in the shed like office who didn't come out so drove home. What a disappointment. Found further reviews confirming our experience. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS DEALER.

I recently bought a VW beetle at s h care sales for a responsible price. Everything about the altar seemed up too scratch and was exactly what I was looking for. When purchasing this car they gave me a 2 months warranty, which seemed a bit odd to me as all dealerships are supposed to authorise 3 months warranty. I have now had my car for 2 and a half months and have had continuous problems with it. I therefore rang try dealership to inform them of my issue also and they are refusing to do anything about it. The car is pretty much a right off. Kamba sensors and catalytic converter needs replacing, new timing belt, all lights are down etc.. They are claiming this as ware and tear within the time frame I have had this car. I am now in the process of claiming my money back!!! Do not purchase a care from here!

PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE! Bought an Audi A8 D3 4.2 Quattro from SH Car Sales of which, at the time it was described as in top condition with full service history with just a few owners. You know usual car dealer talk. Turns out the car has no life in it left. There is nothing on the car you could sell as spares or repair. Utter scrap metal material. I've been in contact with SH Car Sales and they treat the matter as if I'm bothering them, passing the phone around saying the person I need to speak to isn't here. I'm in the process of getting my money back under the Sales Of Goods Act. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!
