Don't normally leave bad reviews but feel my experience of dealing with Select Cars Sheffield deserves one. I recently tried to purchase a VW transporter Reg NB11 VNS from them. I was the easiest sale ever. No haggling on price knew what the van was all about and happy to pay the asking price which was just short of £15k. Deposit was paid and I was put in touch with a delivery firm headed up by Ian Green who i also found out worked as cover at the garage on weekends. Ian green worked out a price for delivery of £350.00. Again no problem I paid for the delivery. The van needed a MOT and Service as per their sales service plus the alloys needed work so we agreed for them to be done at no extra cost. All sounds good until the Friday before delivery which was for the Saturday. I was contacted to pay the final amount in full before the van would leave their garage. No problem full payment was made. I was then contacted Friday night from Ian Green to say there was a knocking sound on the van when driven over 50mph to be sure he wanted the van to be checked over so delivery was cancelled. I was also at this point told that because the sales person Simon was now on holidays Ian Green would be working as his replacement so the van wouldn't be delivered until his return. On the Monday I requested the payment I made to be returned to me as I wasnt happy not having the van or my money. After a day the money minus my deposit was returned thankfully. A further few days passed until I contacted Ian Green to ask for an update. He stated that the noise was a gearbox issues and would cost a lot to repair. Ian said he was going to wait for the owner to make a decision on the next move. While I was waiting i started to check for another van as I wasn't sure this deal was going to come off. When I did this i noticed the same van up for sale £1k more than I had agreed and still had a deposit taken on. I contacted Ian Green who basically told me because there wasn't enough money in the am to complete the gearbox fix and and sell it to me at the price agreeed they put it back on for sale. I had to find this out for myself and no options we given to me other than you have it with the duff gearbox or pay the new price!!!!! I requested my deposit back and after another couple of days had it. The only thing still not recieved back now 3 weeks later is my £350.00 from Ian Green even tho I've given him many chances to do so. I would be very careful dealing with these guys ans be very careful about buying the vw van NB11 VNS. Do yourself and your wallet a favour and sort your own collection out and DO NOT USE IAN GREEN as he cannot be trusted and is not a good advert for this company. You have been warned.

I think the value for money for the Land rover I bought was good. I had no issues while buying the car from Select cars Sheffield. Id recommend them!
