Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend buying a car from Select Motor Trading Warrington. I purchased a Jaguar from SMT a couple of months ago, and even though I asked specifically if the vehicle had any known issues or had any notable bodywork repairs, I was told it didn't. I agreed to leave a holding deposit and collect the car on the weekend (as I live 100 miles away). Unfortunately it was a cold icy morning and because of that the bodywork wasn't clearly visible to me until I got home, but I (stupidly) took the owner's word on things. The car had had some very badly repaired body panel repair at the rear which I am having to have re-sprayed. I appreciate that I would have seen this in clear conditions - and that isn't the owner's fault, but I asked specifically about the condition on the phone and was told it was as-new. Worse still, was the very bad vibration throughout the car which turned out to be 2 of the wheels being badly buckled and needing replacing at a cost of £600. This would have been 100% obvious to anybody who had driven the car over 30mph, but my test drive was dictated to a short 1 mile trip and speeds of around 20-30mph. I therefore didn't know about the issue until I had purchased the car and had got to the motorway. It's my opinion that the owner would have known this, and again chose not to inform me when I asked about any issues. It also wasn't mentioned to me until I got there that one key was missing. These cost around £250 to replace. I emailed the business owner/salesman, Neil, about the bodywork and issue with the wheels to give him a chance to reply and accept responsibility for this, but disappointingly I received no reply. Be cautious. ******************UPDATE TO REVIEW, SEPTEMBER 2015********It's interesting to note, that 9 of the 10 reviews 'ever' made about this dealer, were done so in August 2015 and all 5-star reviews ? In all the time prior to August 2015, there was just 1 review made (which was a poor one). *************************************REVIEW UPDATE AS OF 02.01.16**********************************Please could you add a further update: “Of even more concern is that Select Motor Trading had applied for finance on the vehicle just before I purchased it from them (Dec 2014), but did not clear it from the HPI register. I wasn’t aware of this until I came to sell the vehicle in Aug 2015 when luckily a trader contacted me to ask why I was selling a car with finance outstanding (I knew nothing about it). As you can imagine this caused huge problems for me when I tried to sell it as HPI reports were showing outstanding finance dating back 9 months.
