I had the misfortune to buy a car from here,it’s been a complete nightmare to be honest. I was never happy with the car once I got it home spoke to Matthew who offered me a refund then changed his mind,I’ve been back & forth to Norwich trying to sort this mess out only to be told I have to prove there’s something wrong with the car, took the car to BMW main dealer where they confirmed there was several problems with the car ( I got a £700 bill ) Told Matthew he just ignores you, then he blocks you from watts app !!!! I bought the car in May and have been trying to get my money back ever since, in September the car wouldn’t start and had to be recovered to a garage where I was told there had been a fire in the ECU and the vehicle was a write off I’m now in the process of taking him to court to recover my expenses The service and attitude of VMC is extremely poor and I’d advise you don’t buy from this dealer

Vulcan Motor Company Ltd from Vulcan Motor Company Ltd in response to STEER CLEAR
Dear Matt Jones As a company that has achieved 737 Auto trader five star reviews, won four Auto trader customer highly rated awards in 2018 - 2019 - 2020 - and 2021, we have also received over 217 Google reviews, and we have worked hard for over thirty years to gain and maintain a strong reputation, we were very disheartened to read this review and would like to respond for balance. We can confirm that we sold you a modern classic Bmw 540i in April 2021, It had approximately 100,000 miles on the clock, and was 21 years old at the point of sale, You viewed the vehicle prior to purchase, and you decided that you would like to take ownership, we agreed a price, and we agreed to fully prepare before you took delivery, it was subject to a full 12 month advisory free mot test, it was fully serviced, and we completed a full pre sales service inspection, you duly signed all documentation to confirm that you were happy, and that the Bmw was fault free at the point of sale, you then drove the Bmw home some 100 miles to Essex, you then contacted us in the following weeks to report that the ' Engine didn't sound right ' And you asked for a refund, we did consider this option and the final decision was based upon if there was any faults present, We advised you to return the vehicle on a low loader in case you caused any damage to the engine due to your report, you refused and you drove it back to our premises, It was booked into M Craft Bmw for an independent inspection, where they completed the full inspection and health check, including full diagnostics, we are in possession of this report, they found one issue with an exhaust oxygen sensor, and with their advise we had it replaced, we paid for the inspection, and duly paid for the replacement sensor, there were no faults found with the engine, or ecu, we contacted you to arrange collection, and you refused and again demanded a refund, when you eventually collected the vehicle, you then took it to Bmw Colchester where they completed a free 1 minute 42 second inspection - health check, and again they confirmed that there were no issues in the engine ecu or any engine codes present, they did report some minor leaking around a seal, and that there was no water in the header tank, we have the video, but we have never received any paper work from them or you proving any of the faults you allege were present, you then threatened court action if your demands were not met, we welcomed this course of action, your brother then called us in the office, again demanding a refund, we did then subsequently block you from WhatsApp, We then received an e mail in January 2022 from you stating that your Bmw had caught fire, and that you were seeking to recover some costs, we have had no evidence of any costs, and again you threatened court action, we again welcomed any court action, and we made it very clear that we deny all of your accusations, and that we would strenuously defend our case, you have now decided to take this further and we have responded accordingly, we will welcome our day in court with you, and we will publish the outcome of the case once a judge has heard both sides of this very unfortunate situation. Kind Regards Vulcan Motor Company Ltd
There is an old cliche' about 'Honest John Motor Dealers' that very few live up to. Vulcan Motor Company are the exception. Living 200+ miles away from this dealer in Somerset I approached Matthew and expressed my interest in the BMW X1 he had for sale. He told me it was a 1 owner car with very low mileage as the previous owner had developed memory problems and could no longer drive. On the face of that I paid a deposit. I was sent a copy of the V5 for the vehicle which contained the name and address of the previous owner. Being a bit of a sceptic I traced their number and rang it. There I spoke to what I think were an elderly couple who confirmed exactly what Matthew had said. With that a deal was done. I had a Volvo to trade and after some short negotiations Matthew agreed to bring the car to Somerset and the handover went with only one hitch which turned out was a misunderstanding on my part. Matthew was, however, very courteous in resolving the hitch and we both left happy with our dealings. This is the one Company I would recommend without hesitation. When Matthew tells you he is honest, believe him.

Can't speak highly enough of Matthew, one of the owners at VMC, so a definite 5*s from me. I found the car on the VMC site during lockdown and although I wasn't able to view it immediately as the dealership was still prevented from operating, Matthew answered all the questions I asked about the car and talked me through the ownership and service history of it, which was reassuring to the extent I paid a deposit to hold the car for me, and effectively bought it sight unseen apart from the extensive pictures of it on the VMC website listing. I'm very pleased I did so as there was apparently a lot of interest in it, so sometimes you have to trust who you're dealing with at face value and go with your gut instinct to get what you want. At the PDI several issues were identified as required to get the car through the MOT and VMC organised the necessary repairs using manufacturer (Porsche) OEM parts. Matthew also organised a Gold Standard full mechanical warranty on the vehicle for me at a good price. On collection the vehicle was ready for me and had been valeted. Handover was smooth and efficient, including online payment of vehicle road tax to enable me to drive away. Couldn't ask for any more from a dealer really and can't thank Matthew enough for his time and patience answering all my questions fully and helpfully. I've had a couple of questions since buying the car - not problems, just unfamiliarity with quirks of the vehicle - which Matthew has answered / solved the difficulty - so aftercare service is good as well! I'd say, based on my experience, VMC are a very good motor dealer to do business with. Customer service, experience and satisfaction is top of their list. Hope this reassures other potential buyers of used vehicles from VMC!

After your response of my review Matthew , it was not quite true was it . Who pays 7999 for a car and would not be angry or un happy when gear box needs repair after not even a year of having car and costing 3067 to repair who would expect that or be ok with that ? Not even you I’m sure . And as for you saying you reccomended 12 month warranty no you did not you gave me 12 months with the deal buying the car for which i paid full price in cash of 7999 . And although the warranty paid 2000 still left me the bill of 1067. So how many customers would be happy with that ? Had six months pleasure driving with no trouble ? Really no one would expect to have after paying that amount and it goes wrong in 10 months I’m sure no one would like that .
Vulcan Motor Company Ltd from Vulcan Motor Company Ltd in response to Nissan Juke
Dear Melanie We are bitterly disappointed to have received your two star Car Dealer review. In response and with further details we would like to add the following. You purchased a 2012 Nissan Juke automatic from us in August 2019, there was approximately 48,093 miles on the clock, Before you took ownership the Juke was fully serviced, issued with a full 12 month advisory free mot test, and a pre delivery inspection was carried out, confirming that vehicle was without fault at the point of collection. You were then offered two warranty options on hand over 1st : The motor industry standard six months statutory rights warranty 2nd : A twelve month comprehensive insurance backed warranty with Auto protect, unlimited claims, unlimited miles, with a £2,000 claim limit per claim. You opted for the 12 month Auto protect cover, the terms and conditions were then fully explained to you, including how to make a claim, and the £2,000 per claim warranty limit, you then signed the documentation and you were given a copy, we also keep a signed copy for our records. You then enjoyed nine months of ownership, and travelled circa 6,000 miles until the automatic transmission developed an internal fault, you did contact the office via an e mail in may 2020 asking for help, which unfortunately due to the covid - 19 pandemic went un replied, and we apologise for not replying at that time, you also sent a text message to a member of staff, who promptly and clearly replied and explained that we were unfortunately closed until we were advised by the government that we could safely re open on the 1st June, when we did re opened for business we were contacted by a third party garage that undertook the warranty claim, and repair on your behalf. they asked us for your service book, which we clearly told them that it wasn't in our possession, and that it is always handed over to the new keeper on collection, they informed us that the gearbox repair was authorised by Auto protect, and that they were paying their full liability, which was £2,000 towards the cost of the repair, this then unfortunately left you with the excess £1,000 to pay. This is where our initial advise on hand over comes in to effect, if you had opted for the industry standard six month warranty, it would have expired in February 2020, and the full cost of the repair would have been your responsibility. It is always unfortunate when cars develop mechanical and electrical failure, but it is to be expected at some point within normal ownership. When Nissan UK made the product they gave it a limited warranty until 2015, and the automatic gearbox on your Nissan Juke lasted a further five years before its internal mechanical failure. we do appreciate and understand a customers up set and frustration when presented with an expensive repair bill, but on this occasion our advise for you to opt for the 12 month warranty saved you £2,000. As you would know you have also been called on numerous occasions, with voice mails and text messages left with no response back from your self. we are really sorry that due to circumstances beyond our control, you feel that you have not had the best service from us, and given the opportunity we would like to make a gesture of goodwill towards the situation. If you would like to discuss this further you are more than welcome to call us in the office where we would gladly want to assist you further. Kind Regards Vulcan Motor Company Ltd Edit
I’m only giving Vulcan Motor Company 5 stars, because I’m not allowed to give them 6! Their sales manager goes well beyond the call of duty to make sure you’re completely happy & comfortable with your purchase. I really feel you would be hard pushed to find a more genuine seller of cars than VCM. They offered us a fantastic 12 month free parts & labour guarantee, along with after sales service which is second to none. They even helped me electronically tax & registered my new car so I was good to go straight off the forecourt. All in all, a great experience & would highly recommend giving VMC a visit if you’re looking to buy a vehicle.

After purchasing my car yesterday from the Vulcan Motor Company, I wanted to share my experience with others. From the moment of my first phone call to Matthew I was given outstanding service. Being able to view many photos and read a very informative description of the car was a great bonus. He even offered to collect me from the station if I couldn't get a lift to collect my car! Matthew was so helpful and informative even though I arrived a little late. He then helped me sort the vehicle tax despite it being past closing time! Much appreciated and would not hesitate to buy another car from this company. I highly recommend it to others. Thank you so much Matthew and I love my little car :))
