So many customers suffering with the same untrustworthy diabolical service. Customers not getting what they were promised. Appears that sold under misshaprehensions and even lies told. Hyundai must take a portion of this blame when knowing what is happening but still allow them to have the dealership. Not a good reflection.

Alison Armitage in response to A catalogues of diabolical reviews.

EDIT: To add insult to injury, four weeks later I received a call from JC asking how I was enjoying the car!!!! Obviously he was on auto pilot and didn’t check the records first. Won't say how I responded!

Went to look at a particular car. Told the salesman (JC) I had no intention of buying that day as it was first one I'd looked at and wanted to look elsewhere as well. It soon became clear that he wasn't going to give me a price to part exchange until I had almost committed to buy. He asked me if I wanted to test drive the vehicle. I said not today as I wanted to look if my local dealer had anything. He disappeared and brought the car to the front! Eventually persuaded me to take a test drive. Kept telling me they really wanted my car and would offer me a deal I wouldn't get anywhere else. After two hours of being worn down I eventually agreed a deal and paid a deposit - £1,745 to part ex a 2017 i20 for a 2021! I was to collect the car a few days later on the Saturday. On returning home I had time to research the car and Cars2. DVLA Vehicle Check flagged up two outstanding finance agreements (one had been cleared but not taken off website, the other was the dealer - I believe this is how they buy their stock - on finance which is cleared when sold). The car was only 10 months old. I was told it had only one previous registered keeper. DVLA said two. One was the dealer as I believe they can buy vehicles cheaper if they register them but this adds another keeper onto the V5C. As for Cars2, this site says it all. Lots of one star reviews, many of which are for aggressive sales tactics, and many for poor after sales which was another concern. On discovering all this information I rang the salesman and asked for my deposit refunding. He said they don't refund deposits as the deal had been done. I rang a few times with various questions and every time the same salesman (JC) answered the phone. I asked for the Sales Manager. He said "He's not in today". No surprise there! I couldn't get past this same salesman! After a couple of sleepless nights wondering what I could do before Saturday, I got up at 4.15am and typed out a very long email to Customer Service, only to receive an immediate automated response saying they were very busy and it could be up to 28 days to receive a reply! I had also done some homework on Cars2 so forwarded my email straight to the man at the top. I spoke to him the next day. He was very understanding and could see I'd had a bad experience. He apologised for the salesman's selling tactics and refunded my deposit. Needless to say I won't be dealing with Cars2 again, and will stick to my trusted local independent dealer. Must add that I DID get a better deal from my local dealer who I have bought from many times without any problems, and realise that peace of mind is worth an awful lot. An extra star given on issues resolved due to final outcome.

Absolutely terrible customer service. I ordered a new car from here only 12 days ago, for which I have never been given an official delivery date or handover date (as far as I understand it the car hasn't even been manufactured yet) and have since had some news which has affected my situation pretty badly. I rang to request if I could please get my deposit back given my situation and was told in no uncertain terms by their Sales Controller that there was no option to have my deposit returned, I would either have to take delivery of the car or cancel the order and lose all of my deposit. I really don't understand this, Cars2 have not had to endure any costs, the market for this model is extremely strong and I am sure the car could be sold to another customer without a problem. I cannot believe their stance on this matter, what a total lack of customer service. I am looking into my options but it seems I may have to go down the legal route. BUYER BEWARE. Further to this after another phone call, apparently this company will NEVER offer a deposit repayment, regardless of the circumstances. I really wish now I had not been so accommodating when asked for an increased amount for the deposit after my initial payment had already been taken. Nightmare. I left the above review on the Cars2 website and it was removed, pretty much says it all really!

Purchased my 3rd car from this dealer, but will never contemplate purchasing another from them. Took delivery of the car back in July and mud-flaps were supposed to have been fitted. I was told that they were awaiting a delivery and I would be contacted in due course. 4 months later and numerous calls and visits later In still waiting despite paying upfront. James the salesman in question not interested in resolving the issue. Fails to return my phone calls. When I did manage to get hold of him he promised to sort out a refund, but 2 weeks have now passed and no sign of my money being returned. Really disappointed with their after-sales service.. wouldn’t buy from them .

Walked into the dealership (5th September 2021) after calling and being told they had a demo car and was greeted by salesman J who walked over as soon as he spotted me in the forecourt and introduced himself asked what I was looking to buy and sat me down to get some figures etc, all good at this point. I asked to test drive the new i20N and was promptly put into a car and went for a test drive while someone else valued the car I was part exchanging, the test drive went well and I came back, went over some figures based on options and colour I wanted and eventually after some back and forth in regards to a deal agreed (a bit pushy from the salesman side but typical car salesman I suppose) on a Performance Blue i20N with black roof and Bose along with mats and mud flaps, they had a car almost to spec coming in for mid/late October and was told they would arrange for the roof to be wrapped black (at my home address) to match a factory order but I would receive the car earlier than if I waited for a factory order with black roof so agreed this was all fine. I left the dealership happy with my purchase and if the rest of the process was as easy as the purchase they would be getting 5 stars but once they have your money they really don’t care and the after sales process is terrible, the worst I have ever been exposed to and I will explain why below. Firstly a mistake I made had the car I was part exchanging’s settlement figure listed wrongly on the finance agreement so I was actually in more positive equity than the finance agreement showed, I called to get this amended with Salesman J on the following Monday and was told this was wrong and the car would depreciate between now and the collection date for the new car even though the used car market had the value of my part exchange going up every week, I argued the fact and was told he would amend the finance and upon collection could sign the new documents, this is after having to call back as Salesman J who said he would call me never called back and after having to contact him about various other issues has never actually called me back, I have had to chase everything and have between September and today’s date 8th Nov have had to call them over 30 times to never have a call returned. The next issue was in regard to delivery of the new vehicle I was never informed or updated on when it was due and only after calling and chasing did I get some information it was in the country, the only call I ever got from cars2 was Salesman J calling saying the car was ready and could I come and collect it right away, I told him no I couldn’t collect the car the same day and agreed to come the next day which was a Friday at 1:00pm. I arrived on the Friday after asking on the phone the previous day with Salesman J whether the Mats/flaps and roof had been done (I was told yes) and once I arrived (after the hour drive) the car had none of the things fitted, I then sat around in the dealership for 3 hours because and I quote from Salesman J “Hyundai finance has a backlog of 108 finance agreements to approve so it may be tomorrow” why ask me to drive over to collect a car when you knew this was an issue, After speaking to another dealer (Hyundai Stockport) they said this was an actual issue but they were sending agreements out to people to e-sign a couple of days before collection to stop this being an issue, clearly cars2 just don’t care about wasting peoples time. I then go away with no new car after waiting for 3 hours and having to drive an hour back home agreeing to come back the next day (Saturday) at 11:00, by this point I am already sick of the place and just want the car sorted, I call Salesman J on the Saturday morning just before leaving and was told it still hadn’t been done so he would contact me. Hours go by with no phone call so I chase up and am told it’s all done and to come over to collect it, I again ask is the roof done and have the mats and flaps been fitted and again I am told yes it’s all done, I arrive and none of it has been done and the mats and flaps are on back order (still don’t have them) and the roof will be booked in next week (more on this later). I then wait around while they are faffing with the finance agreement which was wrong as they had the original one before they amended the part exchange settlement figure and was told to “just sign it” and make a payment to Hyundai finance to lower the monthly payments to what the updated agreement showed them as otherwise it would take longer to sort a new agreement, they also forgot after asking multiple times about drive away insurance cover and Salesman J had forgot how to set it up on the system, after a colleague helped him over the phone and I had been promised the single day cover would be extended by him to make sure it covered me until Monday when my insurance companies phone lines were back open I had everything sorted but then had to sit in the car at the dealership for 40 minutes as the insurance could only start on the hour. The next morning I chased Salesman J to see if he had amended the insurance cover to cover Monday and was told I needed to phone the number on the email, I phoned this number and the office was closed on Sundays so called Salesman J back and was told he would sort it, I chased this up another 3 times over the space of Sunday afternoon and it took until 15:36 (I made the first call at 10:38) to get it sorted and by sorted he just took out another single day policy to cover the Monday. Monday comes and I see no money in my account from the refund I was owed and no information in regard to getting the roof wrapped so I call in the afternoon and am told it has been done and takes a few days to appear in my account and he would speak to the wrapping people and come back to me with some dates. I wait until Friday still no refund and no information on the roof so I call and again Salesman J tells me it has been done and should appear in my account so I wait until Monday (the day I am writing this review). I call again as I still have no refund more than a week after it was promised and still have no date for the roof to be sorted, the phone is picked up by Salesman H who says Salesman J is “with a customer” and asks if he can help so I explain the situation and am told it takes 5 days for it to appear in my account and it had been done (it’s been 8 days by this point) and also request a refund for the roof as I have found somewhere else cheaper who can do it sooner, he disappears and comes back saying I can’t have a refund because they have booked it (after me specifically telling Salesman J to give me a date before booking it in) and they have already paid the wrapping people, I ask when the date is and am told Monday 15th November and I would have to take the car to them, this was not agreed at any point. I am now waiting after a week after not being refunded, being lied to multiple times and still not receiving what I have paid for waiting again for Salesman J to call me back. TLDR- Lied to multiple times Refund has been held for no reason 8 days after it was due Never once received a call back from anyone at cars2 so had to chase everything multiple times Was made to travel and waste 5 hours of my Friday afternoon for no reason I have never once received an apology from anyone at cars2 Hyundai clearly they just don’t care, I have purchased new and used cars from multiple other dealerships in the past and had great experiences so avoid cars2 like the plague and shop elsewhere. The car it’s self is great but I wish I just ordered from another dealer.

I submit this update in response to Cars2 Customer Service responding via the review avenue to my initial review. Cars2 Are selling new cars and registering it in their name so you become the second keeper. I was not buying the car at a discounted rate. In my case they did not make me aware of this action and when I became aware they refused to return the deposit. They pointed out what in fact was an addition to the order by way of a small rubber stamp in small light blueprint that gave authorisation for this. Yes, it was a foolish mistake to sign and not fully read when told "sign here", how many of us have been guilty of that, certainly never again. They were told at the time of sale that as a disabled person there was an exemption certificate to pay road fund tax, yet they still put a charge on the order for £180 to tax the car in their name. Three weeks later it occurred to me that the exemption certificate had not been requested so the dealership was contacted, and the sales manager answered the phone. It became apparent in the conversation that the car was going to be registered by the dealership and I pay the tax hence the question ensued are you registering the car in Cars2 name which was confirmed to be the case. After a heated telephone discussion with the sales manager, he agreed to register it in the keepers name as first keeper. At collection the car had not got all the correct paperwork to register the car despite two phone calls to the salesman who sold the car. The first occasion he said he had not handled taxation like this before, so it was suggested he investigate. Not having heard and had lost confidence in the dealer, they were rung again the day before collection, and he confirmed all was in order. On arrival and a searching for the documentation by the handover salesman for the documentation that had been supplied he advised the car could not be registered as they did not have the correct exemption certificate for the road tax. When previously requested for the car to be delivered they had refused to deliver the car, with the excuse given "we don’t have the staff" they now when the car could not be registered had staff to run ran the person home collecting the car to find the paperwork they needed, then subsequently collect them later once found and for them to wait for the car to be registered. On returning the sales invoice had to be redone as it was noticed they had got incorrect figures on it as it was still showing a charge of £180 for road tax. The V55 has arrived, and they have registered me as the keeper but with the wrong title. They had the correct title on the order form. I emailed the sales manager to make him aware and enquiring "How do you intend to correct this mistake please"? Weeks have passed and no reply. The handover was made by a different salesman to the one who sold me the car whose treatment was with respect and understanding why displeasure was being expressed. This could not be said of the sales manager who had conducted himself in my opinion in a rude, arrogant unprofessional manner. I was not contacted after the purchase order, and chasing had to be done as to the cars arrival and making a date and time for pick up. I spoke with Hyundai the manufactures customer service to express my dissatisfaction who contacted Cars2, but they advised me that Cars2 would not take ownership and refused to send a letter of apology. I submitted a review on Cars2 Hyundai Wakefield and had a response from Cars2 Customer Service stating I could contact them to discuss the situation. If they are aware and choose not to take ownership when Hyundai contacted them, I see no point in making contact with them now as they have made evident their response? I will leave you to evaluate if you consider this is the correct route to handle unhappy customers. The damage has been done and now nothing other than the V55 title being changed can be done, so I present this review to make customers aware of my experience. Reading these reviews of what you would have anticipated would be a reputable Hyundai dealer there appears to be a pattern in the negative comments which regrettably I didn’t read before purchase - Much more could be said suffice it to say BUYER BEWARE!!!

pauline giles in response to Buyer Beware!

this is the similer experience i had with cars 2, i bought an mg hs phev in july . it had been registered in someone elses name previously. who had done only 20 miles when i asked why they took it back after 20 miles the sales person said he didnt like the colour. i thought that was strange, but so excited to get my new car i shrugged it off. I too had probs registering my as i wanted my private nunber plate put on we dont do that you have to do that yourself , i said WHAT this is the first dealership that dont do that, so i said ok if yiu cant do it i cant have the car, that changed things long story short all this and then i needed a refund of car tax on my old car, what a prob that was, so lets fast forward to take delivery of the car i took it out on 27 july, took it back as it was not doiing anything like the milage it should so after a battle they said bring it back in the mornig we will look at it. that was 28 july it then went back on 17 aug with engin fault on dashboard, back again sept back again oct all the same prob, then on 18 nov back again same fault and it has been with them this time for 7 weeks, in fact they have had the car more than i have, and still not fixed. so now i will be in contact with the media and solicitors if u had read these reviews i would not have entertained this business with a barge pole

Professional and pleasant service. I was interested in buying a new Hyundai I20. Caleb was very helpful and not at all pushy as a lot of salespeople are. I am now waiting for a delivery date on my new purchase. Would definately recommend Cars2 in Wakefield.
