If you happen to buy a good car from them you will find they get a high rating , but take the time to read the reviews where problems have risen and make your own conclusion. As for my experience I will just list the facts at leave it to you . We bought a cooper s for 2k it needed a few niggily things sorting and the brakes weren't too much cop ,but I didn't mind this for the price and I felt comfortable with putting these right myself remembering we are buying second hand car. We bought the car and it came with their 28 day engine and gear box warranty. Sadly on the 2hr journey home the clutch started to slip , phoned them up and they said no problem bring it back and we will fit a new clutch. Hired a trailer and returned but when I got there it was the other partner who was in and he said there was not enough profit in the vehicle for them to honour the warranty???? After a 30 min conversation which became heated a few times he agreed to give us 50% in cash of a typical repair.
john from Cleckheaton Motor Sales in response to Warranty not worth a thing
not true .i tried to give you a full refund and you said no .i gave you £350 to fix it .because you refused a refund.car sold mega cheap px to clear with 100k .to put a bad review on after that well.......sold for 2k worth 3k..........you would not take your money back.....no heated conversation between us.you are a telling a made up story.if thats how you deal with things.well i,m the better person and no whats right and wrong...
Donna Gregory in response to Warranty not worth a thing
I am the wife of the the reviewer and was present , he did offer the money back and said " under the trade discription act i do not need to honour the warranty as I can just say the vehicle was not fit for purpose and I can just offer you the sale amount back " the issue is they said they would repair it under warranty on the phone and we returned to the garage towing it on a trailer at our expense they then refused to warranty the repair and just offered us the sale price back . As we said the warranty they offered was worthless if we would of had our money back we would of been out of pocket for the return trip and the hire of a trailer so after a lot of haggling we managed to get them to cough up half the price of the repair and the mileage was 89,000 not 100000 .Nothing in this review is said out of bitterness it is just an honest list of events of a warranty claim. When buying the car the staff were very friendly ,it just changed when something with the car went wrong
Adrian Gregory in response to Warranty not worth a thing
Nothing in the review is false and to say I'm making stuff up and you are a better person than me is not very professional! The point of the review which you seem to gloss over in you defence is , you promised to honour the warranty and repair the clutch ,but when we arrived after a 100 mile journey at our cost ,and the cost of the hire for a trailer you had no intention of doing the repair and just offered the sale price back. If the warranty would of been honoured this would be a totally different review. The car was not sold as a cheap part ex as you imply it was on the for court for 2400 on the screen but advertised in the auto trader for 2000 which apparently was a mistake but we could have it at 2000 as you had made the mistake and sold with your 28 day warranty no mention is was a cheap px to clear. It was a Mini Cooper s with 89000 part history 2005 these go for between 1800 and 2000 on Ebay and would expect to pay between 2400 and 3000 max for a a1 condition from a garage with 12 months mot and warranty, which this was not as bits needed doing and it didn't have a full mot but for the 2000 I didn't mind doing these bits myself trying to be fair. Being honest and revealing all the facts the car needed discs and pads at the front ,a new hand brake cable ,a new thermostat, new lower control arm bushes , as well as a new clutch. It's a second had car things will go wrong it's 12 years old and these things are expected. So was the car worth 3000 in the state it was sold? If the car was sold for 3000 would you of fitted a new clutch costing 700 or addressed the other problems ?The point of this review was all about your warranty and your word , which I will leave up to the potential customers to decide. Next time I buy from a garage I will be checking the reviews concerning warranty as this is one of the reason you pay extra buying from a garage.
Excellent service at Cleckheaton Motor Sales, needed a cheap safe family car v helpful staff and professional no pressure to buy showed me all the cars in my budget and explained everything great car for price and nice knowing the warranty is there and free too.
Payed £3600 for a Vauxhall zafira family car from Cleckheaton Motor Sales, broke down the first week I bought it dpf and her problem had to pay for towing also ,they did repair the car but gave me no paperwork for work carried out,, also picked the car back up with fuel gauge empty, another week passed car back in with electrical faults they repaired again but again no paperwork and fuel tank empty again !! Low and behold same problem returned a lot of time wasted off work backwards and forwards to this place now 3 month on has broke down again this time costing me £1000 in a new clutch flywheel and gearbox recon , would not use this company again nor recommend it I've had nothing but trouble with my " family " car since the day I bought it which I now have £5000 in.
RECENTLY BOUGHT MY DAUGHTER A LITTLE CORSA FOR HER 18th. WENT INTO CLECKHEATON MOTOR SALES AND GOT A GREAT RECEPTION FROM THE LADS THERE. ALL THE CARS I LOOKED AT WAS VERY WELL PRESENTED AND WAS ALL VERY GOOD LOW MILEAGE EXAMPLES. HAVING BEEN TO A FEW DEALERSHIPS IN THE AREA I WAS OVER THE MOON WHEN I FOUND THIS PLACE,.. A VERY GOOD SERVICE AND VERY GOOD QUALITY LOW MILEAGE CARS..... THANKS LADS.
I purchased a Vauxhall corsa this past week. I was really happy about viewing this car the service history and mileage was just something that I was looking for. However I decided to take my sis there with me and when we got there the service wasn't a very warm one. Test drove car was happy the road was busy couldnt fault the vehicle at the time. Purchased it the next day the bat went flat had to get that sorted then the engine was making a loud ticking noise (timing chain) rang up told them they said bring it in. Bought it in I told them the cars not right they said it is they have Aa report I said show me they didn't have it I threatened to call police that's how I got my refund fully back. I suggest everyone who wants to buy any car is to make sure u do all the checks because not everyone will sell u a decent if at least car.
John peters in response to Lucky Escape
I had the same treatment from this company.. i said if anything goes in the warranty how will I get it here...oh don't worry...wel work something out...NO.i had to pay for breakdown recovery...pretended to fix the car...I ended up with a pile of crap..that I had to pay to be repaired properly at a garage closer to home...never ever go there...
Adrian Gregory in response to Lucky Escape
The warranty is what lets this garage down ,they use it as a good selling point but you get no contract stating the terms or conditions and limitations , if the car is faulty they will offer you a refund but that's just because they are required to under trading standards
Bought a low mileage (39k) 07 plate Yaris 2 weeks ago from cleckheaton motor sales. After a week the alternator packed in (not the garages fault) - I called them and without hesitation they told me to simply bring the car back in and they would replace with abrand new one!!! 2 days later I had the car back and it is faultless. No pushy salesmen....you can just browse at your own leisure. Cannot understand where all the negative comments come from? Very helpful staff, cars are reasonably priced and aftersales care was excellent!!!! People have to realise that they are buying 2nd hand cars, hence there will be minor issues.....I did not expect perfection for £2,600, but when I did find fault they were only too happy to rectify the issue. These guys are trying to make a living and pay their bills just like you and I....my £200 repair bill was met with no resistance and this has detracted from their profits! They may be £200 down, but their professional actions have certainly secured me as a repeat customer! Keep up the good work guys! Thank you!!!

I purchased a vehicle from Cleckheaton Motor Sales in Feb 2016, which broke down on the way home. Going through all the documentation they gave me, the first few pages were for the car I bought, however the rest, including the service book etc. were for a car of same make, model and similar registration but not the actual car. Owners were rude and abusive, and really couldn't care less once they have your hard earned money. They dragged it out through mediation and delays for well over a year until it finally went to court. Judge found in my favour within minutes, though they still didnt pay and I had to incur addition costs to get bailiffs involved. However, Cleckheaton Motor Sales used a loop hole in the law and added 'ltd' to their name. Meaning all previous debts are unenforceable. Please don't trust these people, they sell dodgy motors to make a quick buck, knowing they either won't have to fix the problem or if you try go to court, that they can just add/remove bits from their name with ease and void your claim.

I saw a car for my daughter on their website. Only 33k on the clock so rang and left a deposit. Two-hour drive there (i presumed to pick it up and pay balance) but was told there was no MOT on it and I'd have to return another time. First visit also revealed 5 small things which i was promised - both then and later that week on the phone - would ALL be fixed when i returned. Returned a week later - worn tyre had been replaced but other things not touched including one of two very worn wiper blades and the exhaust heat shield which was loose and still flapping. Eventually paid the balance anyway - filled with petrol nearby (£50) - and then broke down 20 MINUTES later. Engine light flashing, no power. sounded awful when I tried to restart. Two hours later, the recovery truck arrived (£90) to take the car back to the garage. To be fair, the owner agreed straight away to give me my money back (but didn't pay for the petrol or the recovery). Daughter gutted, two complete Sundays wasted and a fair bit of money down the drain for nothing (recovery, petrol, tax charge, insurance cancellation charge. Cars look decent on the outside but this episode, and several other reviews i've read since, make you wonder if they're all that they seem.

Not sure whats going on with Cleckheaton Motor Sales but ive been ringing and emailing them for 4 days now and not once have they answered the phone or emailed me back! got £3000 in my pocket to buy my daughter a car. Worried that if they don't even ring back or answer to my voice mails, then what would they be like if I actually got chance to buy a car and it was faulty?? Not impressed at all, don't think I will bother wasting my time again.
