My experience with Croydon Classics was great. I purchased an MGB GT from photos and video sent to me by James. Everything went smoothly and he was very helpful, professional and was ready to answer any questions I had. He made me feel at ease about the whole thing. When the MGB was delivered to me, I was pleased to see true to his word the car was as described. Nothing seems to be any problem to this dealer. I would definitely recommend Croydon Classics!

Purchased an MGB GT from Croydon Classics Fantastic sales. I purchased my MGB from Croydon Classics and from viewing the car to picking it up, it was fantastic service. I dealt with James who was friendly, helpful and very polite. When I pointed out something he said would be replaced on the car, but hadn't been, he dealt with it straight away. Very professional and went out of his way to make everything easy for me. Great in every respect!

My brother purchased a car from Croydon Classics on my behalf. Due to me living in Edinburgh I was unable to purchase the car myself. I bought a 1970s MG Midget from James a little while back now. It was sold as a vehicle in excellent condition which was just serviced. I only managed to drive it for 20 miles before it broke down. I had to get the vehicle towed back to my local garage which was 340 miles away. I could not get James to contact me or even pick up the phone, as soon as the money was exchanged I was ignored. My only advise when dealing with this individual is caveat emptor. I had to spend £1500 getting the bonnet, front wings repaired due to covered up corrosion. Mechanically it was just an issue with the coil pack, which was cheap to replace but still was left stranded picking up a recovery bill.

I had a similar experience. I wish I had heeded the poor reviews. Lost thousands on buying a car that was rotten through, filled with fibreglass, bolts missing and clamps. Panels missing and entire underneath rusted and painted over. How James Barton can live with himself I don’t know. Please be careful. I would never recommend going near Croyden Classics

My experience with Classic Automobiles was great, Alan the man i dealt with was brilliant he made my purchase easy , Every thing went smoothly and he was very helpful,professional and was ready to answer any questions i had. I bought an MX5 From Mr James Emerson Barton. It was £2400 and seemed fine on the surface. I took the car to a mechanic who checked it over and found that the rear sills had rotted away and as it was in a structural location it would be deemed a MOT failure. I contacted James and initially he seemed interested and asked for photographic proof and so I sent the photos the mechanic sent me and that was pretty much the last time he seemed interested in helping me out. I had many whatsapp message ignored, even though he had viewed them. He would not pick up the phone when I called him. I even sent letters and he told me I was wasting my time. In the end I went down to his shop to see him and ended up getting most of my money back. ***The vehicle is a RED MAZDA MX5 RG04 EGJ. It has many body work issues. Chassis legs are rotting. Front arches are rotting & have been sprayed over. Rear sills rotted away, Certain parts of the body work have been fiber glassed over*** James, you said to me "I hope you're not going to give me a nasty review" yet you relisted the MX5 instantly claiming it's "In excellent condition throughout! Stunning paintwork and lovely leather interior" so I guess you have repaired all the faults in a day? Very efficient.

Just to say, I was going to give you the benefit of the doubt in regards to leaving a negative review, thinking that maybe you would fix the car properly and be honest about the situation for the next potential buyer.

An enquiry about the car since David's poor experience indicates that the car will be ready for viewing at the end of the week after welding work has been completed. How does this stand with advertising the car for sale now and in excellent condition? Very much a case of buyer beware. A full AA/RAC safety inspection might be money well spent if considering buying the car.

James "I gave a full refund to the customer" You can't even get that right. You offered me £2k because I had used the car!! Even though I only did maybe 300 miles and 120 of them were driving it away from your shop to my house and then returning the car. In the end you gave me £2200, which isn't a full refund, I accepted it to avoid going to court and to get away from the situation. So once again you're either lying or have no idea what actually happened, either way not a good way to fill people with confidence in your abilities as a dealer.
I bought an MGB not so long ago from this MG specialist, and I am really pleased with it. The owner James has been brilliant and I have had no issues with the car at all. I am happy with the value for money and I will be recommending this dealership to my friends.
