I have had bad experiences from buying used cars in the past and I normally do not write reviews but this is my second car I have bought from Direct Cars in Peterborough, my son and daughter have also purchased a car each. The sales guys are always a pleasure to deal with and also have bubbly characters which make you feel at ease. Also their after sales has been brilliant every time, I think my last car may have been slightly overpriced but if this is the service I receive from Direct Cars then would happily pay the price.

I bought my first car from Direct Cars In January this year- an experience I anticipated to be an exciting one. This was short-lived as the standard of service was not acceptable. Being obviously inexperienced when buying cars I feel this was greatly taken advantage of. When I realised that a vehicle should have it's cam-belt changed after 100,000 miles it was greatly important I had proof that this had been done. However, once the salesman found no evidence of this we went away to 'think about it' as this would be more costly than the car was worth. On walking back to the car park to leave the salesman runs after us telling us to stop. He then tells us: 'sorry I am a bad salesman, my colleague just told me it has a chain which lasts the lifetime of the car'. And bad he was too. After driving the car for the first few days in the winter, I noticed the heated rear windscreen was failing to clear. Being a less-experienced driver, and not being able to see out of my back windscreen on cold dark nights was petrifying. This wasn't something we would ever have noticed on the test drive as it could only be tested based on the weather. After phoning the garage to notify them of this they agreed to fix this. We arrived two days later to pick up the car with the 'fixed' rear windscreen. However, this was repaired to an unacceptable standard. The only way to explain what this looked like is stripes of tip-ex along the back- in an attempt to reconnect the heating elements. It looks appalling and there is no way we would have bought this vehicle if it looked like that in the first place. However, they already had the money I had saved for years ready purchase my first car so they wasn't at all bothered. They salesman simply said 'there's nothing more we can do' when its pretty obvious that the whole back windscreen can be replaced. Despite this poor excuse of a repair, the heated rear windscreen still fails to work. Therefore making the vehicle not roadworthy and a danger to myself and other drivers. Not only this, but the value of my car has greatly decreased as a result. After a point-blank refusal to do anything else we decided to take them to the trading standards. All letters were received to notify them of this with no response to reach a solution. Therefore we are now in the process of taking them to The small claims court-- whereby it would cost them more in legal fees than to replace their shoddy excuse of a repair. I hope this business is investigated further as after reading the other reviews this is not a one off case. These salesmen are unfit to do their job to a legally expected standard. I would NEVER recommend this dealership to anyone and most certainly will never purchase from them again. I seriously hope other consumers read these reviews in the future and decide against buying off them and don't make the same mistake I did.

If the only problem you got with the car is a rear windscreen that doesn't defrost then you should be thankful you got an amazing car. I agree what they did with the repair is not right and they should do it properly but the issue is so insignificant that you could have just taken it to a local garage and have it sorted. Probably would not have costed more than 20 quid.

This company is a shambles! My car had various damage along with missing parcel shelf. They delivered with a cracked windscreen and told me it would be fine. Refused to pay for it (even though they did it!) - crack got worse and totally unsafe, completely refused to even contribute and I even offered to pay half! Even though it wasn’t my fault. They wanted me to claim through my insurance. They’ve been an absolute s..t box of a company. All they said was “bring the car back if your not happy” to which I said many times, the cars fine - the crack isn’t. If somebody else is looking on reviews for this place with the slightest intention of going, I would run the other way and avoid these like the plague

Bought a s 280 in December off or direct cars ...i asked the rep to check a number of things for me ....he told me a stack of lies and delivered me an unroadworthy car....illegal tyre, head light wipers not working ....wind shield wipers falling off....car not serviced as agreed and very badly cleaned. They also lied about the car having a sunroof ....i have tried sorting this out with them but they are all not trustworthy and just keep fobbing me off.... i am now taking them to court and reporting them to Trading Standards....if you go anywhere near these Direct Cars Peterborough then you are mad. Dear Sir or Madam, The contents of this email are for your perusal without prejudice. Firstly, I would like to thank you for your help in arranging delivery of the car. The vehicle was a gift and although not as described and discussed it was on time. I have a few issues that need to be rectified with the vehicle. Please see attached pictures..The Advert... The advert stipulates the vehicle has a sunroof and according to eBay and trading standards this legally deems the advertisement as being misleading ....the advert stipulates a sunroof and  .... (there is no sunroof) I have no intention of taking this matter any further at this time and I will not be contacting eBay about this either. However, I do expect all the issues below to be rectified or compensation or arrangement of repairs locally. Communication with Direct Cars. I would also like to refer to multiple conversations with members of your team at the garage. I asked a member of the Direct Cars team to check the following items and insure the vehicle was properly valeted. I made this very clear as it was a present for my farther and how important it was and the representative from Direct Cars assured me it would be done. The interior was not detailed as there was dirt around the switches and grubby marks on the wood work. The glass on the car was not polished. The body was not waxed at all. The paint is dry and completely unpolished and any inspection would prove this. The under bonnet was covered in sand and road grime. Visual checks i had specifically requested. Tool kit...reported to be complete....Tools missing First aid kit....reported to be complete....Missing Hand books and glove box contents.....Reported to be complete....Missing service book missing Pen or torch....I asked for a list of the faults with the car and I was told ****Quote*****  “there is nothing wrong with the car as we make sure everything is ok before we sell them” The faults with the vehicle. The wipers were faulty and therefore an MOT failure. The headlight wipers and washes are not working and therefore an MOT failure Nearside alarm sensor mounting broken and missing. Passenger mirror back mounting broken thus causing the mirror to vibrate.... Your delivery driver can confirm the wipers were faulty and the N/S mirror was lose....(I have already fixed the mirror at my own expense). Service indicator reads the cars 730 mile past its service. Conclusion. As the car was a gift I have had the interior properly valeted, I have fixed the N/S mirror. However. I do not want this matter to get out of hand....But these issues must be rectified, so i am prepared at my own expense to bring the car up to your garage for all the items above (with holding the sunroof) to be rectified. This work must be done in a day as i will need to return home the same day. This is to include, Repair of the headlight washers and wipers. Tool kit replaced, Original Mercedes First Aid Kit, Service up-to-date, Service handbook if you have it. Full body Valet.....to include   body wax, windows polished, under bonnet clean. Broken alarm sensor mounting. I look forward to your reply. My kindest regards Peter.

I bought a car from them beginning January 2015 for £2600 (120000 miles) Since I have the car I spend £800 diverse repair and few days ago the camshaft broke with a fuel pump injector problem ...basically the engine is completely off. I spoke with a man over the phone and the guy basically told me "you didn't take the extra warranty , we can't do anything for you " if you reply that you will go to court they don't care . I would recommend to anybody to avoid this dealer , they are very good and nice to take your money and very crap to deal with your problem . I will not let them go away with that so easily

I purchased a car from this dealer in October 2014, I had a trade in car which after a road test and garage inspection agreed an trade in price. The trade in price was lower than I wanted but I did agree, half way in filling out the paper work the in house workshop rang the office and said that the advisory notice on the MOT stating slight wear on N/S & O/S outer track rod ends the workshop told the salesman that the vehicle required a brand new steering rack as you could not replace the track rod ends separately. The salesman then said that he would have to reduce the trade in price by £400, I told salesman that I was sure the track rod ends where available separately and I would look into it. I completed the deal and I contacted a Renault Agent and I was assured that the track rod ends could be purchased separately and the cost was not a lot something like £13 each. Having contacted the car sale garage and told them this they put me through to there workshop manager and he then tried to say that after further inspection the vehicle required not only a steering rack but also the complete steering column. I strongly disagreed with he and asked him to get the salesman to give me a call. Having waited for days I rang again and requested that the salesman contacted me but still they would not. I have also been contacted by the DVLA because as promised the salesman did not notify them of ownership and that also meant that I lost out on the remaining Road fund licence rebate that I was assured they would deal with. I WOULD NEVER DEAL WITH DIRECT CARS SALES PETERBOUGH AGAIN and I would warn anyone else to avoid dealing with them.
