I bought my car 07/08/2025 an Audi A3 with decent service history albeit none in the last eight years but car has only covered 30000 miles in that time. I was told the cambelt had been changed after 45112 miles, but not the fact it was nine years since it was completed. Looking at all the forums and dealer sites it recommends 80000 miles or five years which ever comes first I have since learned Audi recommend 140000 miles (but not for me) . I enquired to Forton about this and was informed it had only done 41000 miles and were adamant that it was ok as far as they were concerned. Their spiel on the back of the sales receipt WE STRONGLY ADVISE CAM BELTS TO BE REPLACED AS WE CANNOT BE CERTAIN WHEN THEY WERE CHANGED. WE DO NOT HOLD OURSELVES RESPONSIBLE FOR FAILURE UNLESS CHANGED BY FORTON MOTORS. So much for the its ok only done 41000 miles who said so ?. FORTON CANNOT GUARANTEE THE MILES. I got the belt changed at a cost of £601 to myself. I also had a diesel core plug error appear on the dash and got this diagnosed cost £50 the results were either Mass Air flow metre or Turbo charger. The garage said either one could clear the other and would recommend changing the cheapest first, Mass Air sensor £250 fitted. The turbo would be £2000 Steve said its strange the error codes had only appeared after the belt change so something could have happened during the change. This is true but the garage checked it out after changing the belt and test drove it no errors. I said to Steve the errors were cleared as none present on the dash now. This is all within three weeks of purchase I have replied to Steve since suggesting the errors are on the cars ECU. but not showing on the dash so how about putting the car on a machine again to diagnose if there are any errors. No reply since, 3 days now, he said I was emailing the wrong email address and I should email aftersales ? but the website email address its the only one I was provided with. So far New cam belt paid for by me £601 Error code diagnosis £50 paid for by me Forton Motors help 0 £0.00 paid. Forton Motors have not offered any recompense or offered to have the car looked at so I cannot recommend this garage at all. I thought the previous reviews were just sour grapes but found out to my cost NOT SO. DO NOT BUY FROM FORTON MOTORS. they sell older model cars and will not help if you have any issues which is all you should expect if you buy or sell older cars. Jeff W.

Still no reply from Steve re mass Air sensor / Turbo issue or the review 07/08/2025. This I can only assume is because he agrees with the review or doesnt want to reply so he doesnt have get involved with anything to do with the timing belt that he advises to change look at the back of the receipt. I wouldnt mind betting he gets in touch after this. The blokes obviously a cowboy who just shuts off to complaints. I would love to know what happened to the reviewers who said they were complaining through Consumer Rights Act 2015. I did consider it but these people are best left alone I just hope my review keeps people at bay and saves them money due to this garages lack of aftercare.
Bought a car form them. Lovely car however 2 days after picking up noticed washers weren't working and rear refeltector was broken and had a slow puncture rang to get sorted just to be told it wasn't covered by warranty this was after 2 days. Was bought with 12months MOT not sure how it passed an MOT with no front washers.

Another brilliant car purchase from this car dealer. Both Steve & Stuart cannot do enough to help. They are not pushy, give excellent advice and sell good quality reasonably priced motors. The cars are very well presented when being handed over and trade in price for your vehicle is very fair and competitive. Great customer service. I would highly recommend this dealer - five stars all round!

We bought my sons first car from here as this place seemed like the standard and condition of cars were prestige. How misled were we?? Within hours the engine light came on so we called to report this. My husband returned it the next day and Stuart put it on the diagnostics machine which immediately showed a code that pointed to an issue with the Catalyst Converter. We took photo evidence of the diagnostic code and left the car to be sorted. Within a short time we received a call to say the car was sorted and ready for collection. My son went to pick up his car and was told a faulty wire had caused this but noticed quite a lot of petrol was missing but carried on home. As he drove further the engine light came on again which he reported to us on his return home. As we were suspicious we had a friend mechanic put it onto his diagnostic machine which still showed a Catalyst Converter issue. My husband rung as we were quite annoyed that the issue had not been sorted and petrol was low and Stuart told us the car had to go to Kendal ( using my sons petrol) to their mechanic and would take it there again. My husband stated that we shouldn't have to foot the bill for the car to be sent all that way, so Stuart said they would put £10 of petrol in. ( Hardly enough to cover this) We then requested that the Catalyst converter be replaced for a new one as the car had obviously been sold with a faulty one. After a huge disagreement over this the car was again sent to be fixed and this time came back with no engine light on. Thinking there would be no more issues, 6 weeks later my son drove to work on the motorway when the car started making a TERRIBLE noise. He had to return home and not make the journey to work yesterday. When taking it to our mechanic he has informed us that where the Catalyst converter had been welded on, it had snapped off and was hanging off with damage to the sensor wiring. We have had to have this repaired as we are through with all the hassle of taking it back to these and their so called mechanic. NEVER BUY A CAR FORM THIS PLACE! They need to be shut down!

FORTON MOTORS from Forton Motors in response to FORTON MOTORS STAY CLEAR
Dear Mrs Jordan Thank you for your review however we must correct certain points that you have raised to more accurately reflect your dealings with our company. It was regretful that the warning light for the catalytic converter came on so soon after sale, however this could have been for any number of reasons, some of which would be outside of our control, however we did request that the vehicle be returned to enable us to investigate this concern for you. Regretfully though when this light is illuminated, the vehicle may start to use more fuel than normal, however this is not something that we can control. We would also like to point out that the vehicle underwent a full 12 month MOT at an independent garage which passed with no advisories immediately prior to sale. After the vehicle was returned we took it to our repairers in Kendal who diagnosed a faulty wire and a build up of carbon (something that is perfectly natural on a used vehicle), so the wiring was corrected and the converter cleaned. The vehicle was then driven back from Kendal to our premises with no further issues and you collected it, however the light returned so we arranged to have the converter replaced. You did not have to argue with us or instruct us to replace it, rather we voluntarily offered to have it replaced at no cost to you. This was done and the vehicle returned successfully. You now state that after a further period of time (some 6 weeks) that the catalytic converter has a broken weld and that you accuse us of using a cheap repair. For the avoidance of doubt, please be informed that your catalytic converter is secured by bolts and clips and does not have any welded joints to secure it to the rest of the car. Therefore we can only conclude that someone may have attempted to steal it for its scrap value - something that is occurring more and more often, these days. We also wish to point out that you have not contacted us to inform us of the "broken weld" and nor have you given us any evidence of the "broken weld", and given your passed experience with us, we would have offered to take the vehicle back and to rectify the issue without any cost to yourself, therefore we are somewhat confused as to why you have followed this course of action. I do apologise that you had a fault with the vehicle so soon after sale, however at all times we have acted both fairly and reasonably and had your vehicle repaired at no cost to you, This is something that not all dealers would have offered to do or replace with new parts, given the fact that you purchased a 9 year old vehicle. Management lights will come on periodically with used vehicles however it is down to the approach of each individual retailing garage how they approach the matter with the customers, Some will not offer any assistance, however we have repaired your vehicle at no cost to the customer. Kind regards FORTON MOTORS
